30 day Ab challenge - anyone else!?

Littlehouseinthebigcity · 24/07/2020 09:47

I have just completed day one of the 30 day Ab challenge. I have started it lots of times and never completed it, so mostly started this thread for a bit of accountability but also hopefully some company!
I have had 2 caesareans in the last 3 years so my stomach muscles could definitely do with some help! I am also disabled following an accident and therefore am fairly limited in what exercise is available to me!! So really want to achieve this

I can only do the sit ups by lodging my feet under toddler DDs little bed 🤣 Just done day 6! Determined to get back on track and not use missing a day as a reason to give up!

Hear hear littlehouse. There's no reason why the 30 days can't just be expanded out a few days, just don't stop all together.

Day 3 for me today. I might try jamming my feet under something and actually get a couple of proper sit-ups done!

TooMinty · 30/07/2020 13:25

I'm glad I'm not alone on the sit up thing! I'm away on holiday next week so that will be a test to see if I keep it up every/most days.

Littlehouseinthebigcity · 31/07/2020 08:57

Just done day 7. Quite concerned by the escalation and wonder how many I'll be doing by day 30!? But guess that's why the app won't let you peek ahead 😂 I'm going away in a week or so, will be interesting to see if I can keep it up!!

SlantyBaws · 02/08/2020 21:58

That's day six done. No kidding about the escalation, ooft!

TooMinty · 02/08/2020 22:38

I have gone on holiday and fallen off the wagon... Will restart when I get home, will need it as eating seems to be a holiday theme!

Littlehouseinthebigcity · 04/08/2020 16:23

Missed a couple 🙈 but back on track today with day 9. How are others getting on?

Day 10 just squeezed in before bed. 🙈

I am still on track but no way can I keep up with the reps required. I can manage 20 of each with good form, but anything over that and I'm all over the place! Can hold a plank though 👍

20 reps, what day are you up to now? I'm going to start again on Monday when I get back from holiday, hope my stomach can take it!

SlantyBaws · 09/08/2020 09:19

I did day 10 on Friday and it was looking for over 40 reps! I am taking the weekend off as it's too hot haha.

TooMinty · 09/08/2020 09:27

Wow, that escalated fast! I'm going to start again on Monday. Have you seen the Joe Wickes video where he is working out on the roof of a hotel in Dubai? First thing in the morning and it's already 30 degrees. I would melt into a greasy pool of sweat...

TooMinty · 11/08/2020 07:54

I'm back on again! Just did day 3, actually managed some sit ups too... I might skip the rest day to try and catch up a bit. Has anyone noticed a difference in tummy flatness yet?

Littlehouseinthebigcity · 11/08/2020 10:04

Just did day 11, away at my parents so have got a bit behind. Haven't noticed any difference yet but similarly haven't been overly reliable with it!!

OP posts:
TooMinty · 11/08/2020 21:01

I'm very impatient. I've done 2 days of work outs and calorie counting and immediately expect to have a flat stomach 😂

MorbidMuch · 12/08/2020 17:28

I downloaded the app a few days ago and have finally opened it up to do Beginners Day 1. It was so much quicker than I thought it would be. Hopefully I'll remember to stick with it.

TooMinty · 14/08/2020 14:18

Day 7 today - do the number of sit ups keep going up?!

Or do you get new exercises added as it goes along?

Littlehouseinthebigcity · 23/08/2020 17:49

Just done day 13! We've had my inlaws here and I let it drop but am now firmly back on the wagon. Alongside trying to get my 10000 steps every day.
I think the numbers of each exercise just go up and then each level new exercises are introduced

AmICrazyorWhat2 · 23/08/2020 17:57

Does anyone know whether it’s effective for abdominal separation ( a PP mentioned they have it as well)?

TooMinty · 23/08/2020 20:29

Oh I'm on day 14 so I've caught up. Might have seen some improvement in muscle tone but not sure if it's my imagination! Does anyone know if any new exercises will be introduced? I'm not sure I fancy more and more sit up reps!

doadeer · 23/08/2020 20:33

Sorry to hijack but those of you with abdominal seperation should follow guidelines specifically for that following physio consultation otherwise you can make it much worse. Please be careful! 💐

Littlehouseinthebigcity · 23/08/2020 21:22

@TooMinty I don't think there's new exercises until the next level (so after the first 30 days) - might be wrong though! I find it a bit frustrating that you can't look ahead!

OP posts:
TooMinty · 23/08/2020 21:48

Oh, ok. Would prefer if it mixed it up a bit but will stick with it now I'm halfway there.

How would I know if I have separated abdominals? It would be obvious right?

doadeer · 23/08/2020 21:56

@TooMinty you can feel yourself here's a how to video m.youtube.com/watch?v=Ln1omr1yWNI

When did you give birth?

If you do have it you need to work on the deep core muscles, and avoid anything that bulges your stomach such as situps, planks etc.

Instead build up to toe taps but remember the movement needs to come from your hip joint and thigh, not your knee (that's cheating) initially you may just find that lying in table top position is enough.

doadeer · 23/08/2020 21:57

Sorry to derail! But it's an important issue!!
