VLM Ballot Entry

Anyone entered the VLM ballot for 2020? If you log onto realbuzz some people have been given bib numbers already. Someone told me that this isn't always a good indicator and that if you have a number already you might not necessarily get in, they have been known to disappear!!

Anyone with any prior experience?

Ive entered. Fingers crossed, but TBH I'm not bothered as Im training for my 3rd marathon and its taking its toll (Snowdonia Marathon in 3 weeks)😂 not sure if i can do another one!

Nothing for me yet.

I may be wrong, but my theory is that those with mags have them today (unless stuck in the post) and anyone with an email will be this week sometime. Therefore, pretty much all the yes people know. Obviously some mags may be delayed in the post, but most will have them.

Another day of constantly checking realbuzz and sneaking looks on my phone for an email.

I did see one person say that the number they had was the same as on Realbuzz last week. Not sure how true it is or whatever. Also is there a number allocated yet or just after they have paid?

Anyway point Im making is Im still waiting, but thinking its even more likely to be a no now. Which Im fine with, looking on the good side. No winter training. No dark early mornings just to run for hours on end etc.

I was at run club this evening and none of those who had entered the ballot had heard. Though 'sorry, no' (with magazine or that top) are coming through - several people knew someone who'd had one.

I didn't even get a mazagine when trying before and IIRC, flat 'no' with no gizzits are the last to appear (members' hub updates before emails arrive, I think)

Nothing from the postie today. I’m fairly certain it’s a no.

VMLM announced on twitter that they would be updating Realbuzz and sending emails from tomorrow.

I think if it was a yes we would have had a magazine already.

Has anyone ran Manchester or Brighton Marathon? Was thinking of one of those as an alternative.

Why the frig don't they just update RealBuzz on 7th?

Or say that publication day is 9th, but some magazines might arrive earlier?

Really irritating isn't it. Still not got anything, I bequeathed my fee so should be getting a magazine one way or another, one with a NO and a running top or a YES!

Because the enjoy torturing us?! It is frustrating, but I guess we'll know soon. I am also waiting on the outcome of 2 interviews, it's a stressful week!

It’s really frustrating and very unfair on the ‘no’s’ who want to pursue the charity option- others get a head start on contacting charities and booking hotels whilst the rest of us are in this awful limbo of being 99.9% certain it’s a no but having that 0.01% of cruel hope kept alive!

I’m ok with not getting in (just a bit sad) it’s a ballot so I know what I’m getting myself in to, I’m not ok with this drawn out process for publicity.

Also frustratingly waiting here too, I'm realistic that I'm expecting my 9th rejection. I have applied to a charity close to my heart, but again so many applicants and only a few spaces so I'm not holding out for it.

I know I could find another marathon to do, but it's London or nothing. I enjoy running half marathons but believe I've only got one full in me so I'll keep trying as long as I'm fit enough and want to run.

Despite hanging out in numerous places (RL and online) that are frequented by runners, you are the first I've heard who is in

(except for one friend who had a charity place for something dear to her heart sorted months ago and who I don't think went near the ballot)

Mine was a no this time, but I have run for charity in 2017 and 18 so I have been very fortunate. Its such an amazing day

I've seen a few "you're in" magazines on facebook, but Im in about 5 different running groups on there and another couple of fitness type groups.

Dont know anyone personally.

I really dont understand why they can't update realbuzz on Monday for everyone to see at once. If you want to wait for the post then you can. As a PP has said its not fair to those of us who want to get on with other options but can't because as yet there is still a very small chance (although it is getting smaller day by day)

Anyway tomorrow we should know one way or another.

My back-up plan is Liverpool R&R. Originally I was going to do the 5K, half marathon and the mile. I have now changed my mind and thinking of the full marathon. I'm doing York marathon a week on Sunday and I am in no way prepared. I'm even less prepared than last year and that didn't go to plan either. So I want to try again with Liverpool as its a different time of year. This year I buggered off to France for 2 weeks during optimal training time.

Anyway good luck to all of us still waiting to hear. Although if Im honest I think we're all no's now. All the magazines should have arrived with only a very small few stuck in the postal system somewhere.
