What's your steps today?

I think I'm just over 11,000.

I'm just asking so I can see what other people are up to.

What the hell are you lot doing to get so many steps into a day?!

I'm a SAHM and mine are rarely over 8,000!

wispaxmas · 14/06/2016 12:53

Spun, I'm a SAHM, too, I just make sure I get a minimum number of steps every hour, so I end up running around the house doing active games with my DD a lot. It used to be much easier as we have a large dog who normally requires a good 2 hours of exercise a day, but she has just had knee surgery after being lame for a few months, so I've just been making sure I am more active around the house and any nice day I take DD for walks to places we go rather than driving or bus. It's not that difficult to work extra steps into my day I've found.

wispaxmas · 14/06/2016 12:54

kirinm, I have a friend who runs to work a few days a week in the city from her house in Greenwich, she ends up with 10k by the time she reaches the office! She then sits all day at her desk and takes the train home, but usually ends up with 15k+ most days.

Angeladelight · 14/06/2016 12:55

New to fitbit, I'm on about 11k a day, I walk to and from work which is about an hour per day. I work a desk job but try to be active during the day. I'm happy with 11 anyway.

gamerchick · 14/06/2016 13:22

Well I 'may' make it, 11,463 now, maybe a thousand for the rest of the housework, 2,000 for school run, 4,000 at work then aldi after and a thousand tonight before bed doing the evening thing.

We'll see.

PirateFairy45 · 14/06/2016 13:32

Meh, I think I'm out today. Just hit 11k but stopping my workouts for the day as I'm in a lot of pain again.

Good luck everyone!

Will still do a thread in this section tonight with my count for the day :)

I love the competition - mainly with myself - the only others that i am linked with are DH and DS (who doesn't wear his as strap not long enough)!

I started with the 10k daily target and after i'd done a number of days above 15k moved my target up to that. Currently i try to get 20k/day (although i've not changed my target). It is quite an effort to do it - but my DC are older now so i can go off for walks! My best effort was 35k in a day which i've done once, and 30k (7 times).

Currently today i'm on 14,254 - but then i managed to do a lunchtime walk. Normally it's hard to get up from my desk during the day so i rely on morning and evening dog walks, lunchtime walk if i can and extra walk in evening if needed. Parking in the overflow car park helps (adds 1000 steps to my day).

spamm · 14/06/2016 14:19

I am on 7,260, at 9.15am (US East Coast). I reckon I will do about 16,000 - days working from home and weekends are much better for me - dog walks, house work, workouts and just general busy days.

I struggle at work, and I try to get at least 10,000, but on bad days, it can be as little as 4,500 (7am - 5pm meetings in video conference rooms with no windows - I hate those days.). I will post later!

GeekLove · 14/06/2016 14:19

Usually around 12000 but have been unwell these couple of days. Managed 25000 last Monday with a morning run and roub the trip to the gym.

Tiredemma · 14/06/2016 16:06

Sorry for 'gatecrashing'. I want a FitBit but dont have much ££ - what is their cheapest model and is it worth it?

PirateFairy45 · 14/06/2016 16:08

Tiredmma I use the cheapest version, the Fitbit flex and it cost me around 30 with a discount

I would say they are worth it totally, makes me competitive and makes me push myself.

Think I'd depends on what you wanna use it for

JasperDamerel · 14/06/2016 16:11

I don't have a Fitbit. I got a Jawbone Up Move whichis very similar to to a Fitbit to (I prefer to use) but was £18 on a special offer on zavvi.com. I'm not sure if the offer is still on.

Tiredemma · 14/06/2016 16:12

Really for steps/calorie count mainly

Tiredemma · 14/06/2016 16:12

Do you link it up to your smartphone?

JasperDamerel · 14/06/2016 16:35

Yes. You can log food and other exercise and it tracks your sleep and you can do duels with other people and the app gives you suggestions and challenges based on what you do (like consistent bedtimes, or drink more water or move more at weekends, or beat your average steps.

Lighteningirll · 14/06/2016 16:41

And mine buzzes when my phone rings......

PseudoBadger · 14/06/2016 17:31
  1. Should be done and dusted with a dog walk later I hope. Get stepping everyone!
PirateFairy45 · 14/06/2016 17:33

Hope we are all doing well!

The competitive part of me took pain killers and ibrupofen so I can kill the pain for one last work out!

I know I know!

  1. Considering I've turned into an old woman who bangs on about her sciatica, I'm doing very well.

(I'm not old btw)

CuntTrollingRs · 14/06/2016 21:11

Well done!

20069 from me, two dog walks and a trip to town, some housework and general faffing.

PseudoBadger · 14/06/2016 21:20

Bloody children took 2 hours to get into bed and I'm only just eating dinner. But I WILL walk the dogs afterwards even if I pass 20k at 11.59pm Halo

gamerchick · 14/06/2016 21:40

22638, I'm happy now Grin and knackered.
