I have just restarted after doing it manically three times a week a year or so again. OMG my thighs are KILLING, i can barely walk.

I was delighted though that in the first class back we had one of those men who come in new and WAY over estimate how much they can lift. guilty giggle
Women never do this!

At our sports centre You set up your own stuff and you put it all away too as not everyone uses the same weights. If there is stuff lying about after I have tidied up then I will sometimes help do theirs too

dementedpixie · 31/12/2015 16:13

I do Zumba and powerhoop too so not just body pump

dementedpixie · 31/12/2015 16:13

Do you need to stand in a more central position if you are getting a crick in your neck?

BrendaandEddie · 31/12/2015 16:15

i googled and I think i need to keep my head down during the back track and squats maybe...
today the right side, the other day the left

Yes get the stuff out & put away yourself.

I went to another instructor's class this week and he used different tracks. He also didn't say much, the other class I go to the teacher talks/shouts all the way through. Wasn't sure what I prefered!

I would imagine one needs cardio too. You heart rate goes up, but it isn't like running etc?

RaeSkywalker · 31/12/2015 16:27

We get our own equipment out and put it away.

I do spin for intense cardio, but pump definitely elevates my heart rate significantly and I sweat a lot!!

My shape has changed so much in the year I've been doing it. My arms are vaguely toned now. I love how much stronger I am too- I had zero upper body strength before.

BrendaandEddie · 31/12/2015 16:32

i did it very intensively for years and the shoulder track was even then still a killer

CHest - got good at. But as I said in the OP, tis the squats that kill when you have had a break

I love pump so much. When I first went I was a bit scared and then was instantly addicted and wondered why I had never done it before

I also love it because there aren't any shirkers in our class, everyone is there to work. Although it doesn't burn as many calories as spin, it's good long term because the more muscle you have, the more calories you'll burn at resting. So a mix of cardio and weights is important.

dementedpixie · 31/12/2015 16:36

That's why I don't like to miss more than a week or 2 without going as its so bloody painful when you go back! I did pump once this week and once last week so won't be too bad going back to my 2 classes a week when schools go back

dementedpixie · 31/12/2015 16:38

I do 2 pump, 2 Zumba and 2 powerhoop classes. The Zumba is not like traditional Zumba as the instructor seems to like incorporating jumping jacks, knee lifts and squats into it too

BrendaandEddie · 31/12/2015 16:41

i find i am wild about something for a couple of years then - flip - off to spin or whatever
