I have just restarted after doing it manically three times a week a year or so again. OMG my thighs are KILLING, i can barely walk.

I was delighted though that in the first class back we had one of those men who come in new and WAY over estimate how much they can lift. guilty giggle
Women never do this!

I've seen a couple of blokes look slightly traumatised when they realise how much lifting there is and that their chosen weights might kill them before the class ends Grin.

Love

The best bit about body pump. Well that and it's transformative powers!

Bedsheets4knickers · 14/12/2015 23:09

I love it when the Jonny concretes give it a go and chuck on the weight .. ESP the biceps .. Grin

BrendaandEddie · 15/12/2015 19:35

That was me last Monday Grin My legs were so sore and of course the 3 year old (I'm a nanny) climbed all over me at every opportunity! Loving this latest release, particularly the back track.

MrsMargoLeadbetter · 26/12/2015 22:26

I have just started after years...and love it.

I am at a Virgin gym. They tend to do the same music tracks each time. Teacher mentioned something about new ones in the new year.

Does your class have the same music? Just wondered.

KatoPotato · 26/12/2015 22:28

Genuinely excited about getting back into pump in the new year!

dementedpixie · 26/12/2015 22:29

That's the thing about les mills classes, they have the same routines whichever venue you go to. They run in blocks of 3 months so it changes 4 times a year. The new routine will be released in January.

KatharinaRosalie · 26/12/2015 22:31

In Bodypump, there's a new release every 3 months. We (I'm an instructor) are supposed to teach that for a few weeks, and then introduce some old tracks in the mix, so people don't get bored. Not everybody does that though, in some gyms people ask that we teach only the same tracks for the whole 3 months.

And yes, I always tell the big bulky men that this class is different, they should go easy. If they roll their eyes and ignore me, I do secretly enjoy watching them the last 2 minutes of each track Grin

MrsMargoLeadbetter · 26/12/2015 22:36

Ok thanks. I quite like repetion but not forever etc.

"Les mills" demented?

dementedpixie · 26/12/2015 22:40

Les Mills are the 'inventors' of classes like body pump, body combat, body attack, etc and the centres they are taught in all work to the same choreography so wherever you go it will be the same

Ah thanks. Sorry thought it was an auto text replacment for Virgin gyms!

wonkylampshade · 27/12/2015 08:11

I'm also planning to head back in the new year after having a baby who is one now! Managed to keep going till I was 6mo, then chucked it in. I was going three times a week and loved it! It's totally addictive.

KatharinaRosalie · 27/12/2015 09:23

Oh and if your instructor is doing the same release for the full 3 months, don't be shy to ask them to mix it up. If you go several times per week, you will get quite fed up otherwise.

RubbishChristmasName · 27/12/2015 09:30

Has pump helped anyone to lose weight?
I go to slimming world and I found that I gained weight or stayed the same with pump.
Should I have persevered or do you not lose weight with it?

dementedpixie · 27/12/2015 09:54

I find it helps to tone so you may not lose weight but you do change shape.

KatharinaRosalie · 27/12/2015 12:28

Yes I lost a lot when i first started it, but I was doing a lot of pump as well - if you stick to 1-2 classes per week and don't change eating habits, you probably won't lose that much, as it does not burn as many calories as some other Les Mills classes. Certainly helps to tone up though.

RubbishChristmasName · 27/12/2015 12:58

Well I plan on getting back to it in Jan. I've lost 4stone and now need to lose 2 more and tone up so I'll give pump another go.

I will be going to attack as I used to love that but it's going to kill me the first few weeks!!

bodenbiscuit · 27/12/2015 13:01

I love body pump. Spin is the best sort of thing for weight loss apparently but weight loss is always about diet and exercise.

nbee84 · 27/12/2015 15:09

You should find pump will help to increase your muscle mass and decrease your body fat. So while your weight may stay the same you will be changing shape and toning up. I've been weighed monthly on those scales that measure body fat/water/muscle mass/visceral fat etc and in 3 months I've dropped 4.2% body fat and gained 2.1kg of muscle. I have also dropped 6lb in weight - eating carefully but keeping protein intake up at about 70g a day.

BrendaandEddie · 31/12/2015 16:07

i keep getting a cricked neck

ALSO how does it work at your gym?
do you all put your own stuff up - do they do it for you? Who puts it away - each their own or everyone helps each other

OP posts:
BrendaandEddie · 31/12/2015 16:07

after a year or so break I can tell you that the music quality is WAY better now
now more ' summer of 69'

OP posts:
BrendaandEddie · 31/12/2015 16:10

there is lots of data to show pump is ONLY good for muscle stuff, not aerobic fat burning.

I would THINK you need to do some cardio as well as it
