Honestly. Do they actually help it just a bit of a gimmick.

I have about 3 stone to lose but haven't quite got round to starting yet. Hmm

I have the blue one.

TheBlessedCheesemaker · 12/01/2015 21:13

I was just a few steps shy of my steps target today, until two foraging trips to the wine fridge brought me over the line.

It's a mystery why my weight isn't coming down...

ireallydontlikemonday · 12/01/2015 21:15

I use the pacer app on my iphone 4

FullOfChoc · 12/01/2015 21:47

Blessed, if only the fitbit had a function to remove our liking for wine and chocolate. Now that would sell!

grumblepuss · 13/01/2015 07:43

Stats - they've released it this morning. Can you cancel and save £30?

StatisticallyChallenged · 13/01/2015 08:52

Thanks for the heads up. Their notification system clearly not so great! It's showing as shipping in 1-2 weeks....Argh not sure what to do now

StatisticallyChallenged · 13/01/2015 08:57

Emailed to see if I can cancel, placed order with fitbit in the meantime. If I can't cancel the first one I'll cancel fitbit

ReverseTheTrend · 13/01/2015 09:05

I have a misfit, I lost 2 stone in 3 months with it,however I was very overweight to begin with

grumblepuss · 13/01/2015 09:30

Their notification system is rubbish.
Email people who want to know first... Then put it on Facebook.
I've ordered mine. I reckon I'll have it on my wrist by Feb.

StatisticallyChallenged · 13/01/2015 09:55

Fingers crossed, I'm getting impatient now Grin

FullOfChoc · 13/01/2015 21:20

Reverse the trend - thats good going!

I think I need a fitbit!

Bumbiscuits · 14/01/2015 11:24

I got one last week. I already think it's great. I haven't yet got the hang of merging it with my fitness pal ( I'm a lapsed user of MFP). I burst my steps target yesterday.

RandomFriend · 14/01/2015 11:29

I got DS one for Christmas. He is building up to a fitness goal but doesn't track his activites and I thought a Fitbit would help.

It doesn't. He doesn't use it. It was a waste of money. You don't need one - just start your walking/running and don't worry about tracking everything.

StatisticallyChallenged · 14/01/2015 12:57

Surely whether it does help or not depends on your personality, what you are trying to achieve and whether you would find it motivating? I would never have walked as much as I am now without the little counter on my wrist taunting me.

For some people tracking doesn't help but for others it gives them a swift kick!

StatisticallyChallenged · 14/01/2015 18:43

I was too late to cancel my US order - it's already in the UK and cleared customs so I might even get it tomorrow, or maybe Friday.

grumblepuss · 14/01/2015 19:25

Ooh Stats that's exciting!
I expect a full report when it arrives.
Will you be my fitbit friend when mine arrives?

StatisticallyChallenged · 14/01/2015 19:34

Definitely on all fronts!

CruCru · 14/01/2015 19:35

I went out for three walks today, so determined am I to have all four goals turn green. Yesterday I hit 17.5k steps (it was a running day though).

MajesticWhine · 14/01/2015 19:46

I have a fitbit flex and I really like it. It gives me motivation to be more active. I also have it talking to MFP to adjust my calorie allowance. It's still a bit of a novelty because it's new, hopefully I won't get bored of it though.
I have learnt a few things - that I am quite lazy at the weekends. I easily hit 10000 steps on a weekday so should probably aim higher. And I definitely don't get enough sleep.

TheEnduringMoment · 14/01/2015 19:52

I also use Pacer on my iPhone 4 - it's not sophisticated, but it counts my steps just fine.

nbee84 · 14/01/2015 20:25

I've had mine since Saturday. It's already made me go for several walks that I wouldn't have done otherwise. I have one friend on there and that also helps me to be more active as I don't want her thinking I'm a lardarse Grin I've linked it to mfp as I'm trying to lose the 9lb(!) that I put on over christmas.

Let's see how long the novelty lasts!

AngelDreams · 14/01/2015 20:30

i want a heart rate monitor watch thingy that doesnt need a chest strap - not too expensive....

BiscuitsAreMyDownfall · 14/01/2015 20:46

Is it just a fancy pedometer or can it tell if you have been doing any exercise and how many calories you have burned? For example, I enjoy doing exercise classes at my gym, but have no idea how many calories Im burning during 30 mins of metafit so would love something that could give me that information, but a fancy pedometer Im not all that fussed about.

StatisticallyChallenged · 14/01/2015 21:01

ANgelDreams, there aren't that many. The Fitbit charge hr and surge, there is the epson pulsense too. There are a few others which seem to have an on demand heart rate, but these are both continuous

Biscuits, the ChargeHR and Surge measure your heart rate - so they will count your footsteps too but they calculate your calorie burn for any activity.

BiscuitsAreMyDownfall · 14/01/2015 21:51

Thanks Statistically
