Right, lets find all the park runners we have on here. I did my first park run on sat.

I am very impressed with my time of 33.18 :) I am ridiculously pleased with myself.

So park runners, where are you?

I was in a vile mood yesterday until I went for a run. I considered taking it easy as my knee is still a bit sore but I got into a fast pace and was enjoying the way it felt so much I just couldn't slow back down! I was all out by the time we finished 10k.

Track night tonight and I'm really excited. Bring on the endorphins Grin

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 25/09/2013 20:46

I am running to work tomorrowShock

IsThatTrue · 25/09/2013 20:48

How far is work ohone and can you shower when you get there?! Grin

Work is normally far too far to run, but I am staying with a friend in London so it is 8 miles from her front door to my office, assuming I don't get lostGrin

Yes to showers at workGrin

Just psyching myself upGrin

Blatherskite · 26/09/2013 14:02

Track killed my knee. I'm booked in with a sports therapist on Monday Sad

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 26/09/2013 14:07

Sad Sad Blathers. Hope you feel better soon Thanks Thanks

IsThatTrue · 26/09/2013 16:07

Oh blathers not good re: your knee, I hope it's nothing too serious!

ohone 8 miles is still pretty far to run to work!

I did 3.3 miles with the buggy this morning. 10.30 ish per mile, not bad pace tbh.

Oh no! Sorry to hear that, Blathers Sad What happened?

Blatherskite · 26/09/2013 17:09

My IT band has been sore since just before I did that accidental half marathon. It gets better between runs and I think it's better, then I run and it's sore again.

The limping has made my lower back sore too.

Hoping he'll be able to tell me exactly what's wrong on Monday and I'll be able to get back to normal very soon. Missing tonight's run and having my normal non-run Friday in the hope of being a bit more comfortable for my 44th parkrun this weekend but I can't carry on like this long term and I have a couple of runs looming that I've paid to enter and really want to do. Plus a possible Dirt Half place that I quite fancy.

BIWI · 26/09/2013 17:14

Are you doing lots of stretching?

Blatherskite · 26/09/2013 17:34

I am after runs. I should probably stretch more between times too but it seems to make it sore-er.

I have been icing it after runs too.

holmessweetholmes · 26/09/2013 19:30

Oh I'm envious of running to work! Am having serious trouble fitting runs in atm. Also, where I work is surrounded by beautiful countryside, so it would be fab to run there. Just not doable on my schedule though Sad. Ah well, looking forward to Parkrun on Sat though.

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 26/09/2013 19:49

I'm not sure I'd want to run to work regularly, but it was nice to do it today. I was pretty pleased with my pace, considering I was carrying a small rucksack with some bits and pieces.

Looking forward to Parkrun tomorrow - hoping to persuade DS1 to come with me.

BIWI · 26/09/2013 19:50

Blathers - you shouldn't stretch without being warmed up first. So definitely a good thing to stretch after a run, but be careful between runs if you're not warmed up. Dynamic stretching is better, I have been told. (no idea why!)

this might be helpful

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 26/09/2013 19:50

Erm Blush, Parkrun on Saturday - I've lost a day somewhere this week Grin

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 26/09/2013 19:50

I've read that too BIWI

IsThatTrue · 26/09/2013 19:53

How old is ds1 ohone ? My DS is desperate to come again but he's at his dads for the next 2 weekends so I've promised that he can come the next weekend he is home.

I'm looking forward to this week. Am hoping that doing the buggy runs has helped me get faster. I'm pretty sure I'm getting quicker.

He's a stinky teenager IsThat. He's very sporty and plays tons at school. But not much of a runner Smile. Last time he dropped out with 1K to go because his shoulder hurt

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 26/09/2013 20:07

Oooh, Saturday will be 20 for me! I like round numbers Smile

Blatherskite · 26/09/2013 21:00

Dynamic stretching is definitely the way to go I think. I also read that you should never do static stretched before a run, only after. Static stretches before a run will slow you down.

Blatherskite · 26/09/2013 21:04

Looked at the link now :) I always do a slow jog, high knees, butt kicks and a sort of sideways skip before parkrun, running club has gotten me into good habits.

BIWI · 26/09/2013 21:08

Sorry if I was teaching granny to suck eggs, Blathers!

Blatherskite · 26/09/2013 21:11

No, it was interesting. There are some on there that we don't do that I will try. Thank you

Lizzylou · 26/09/2013 21:30

Hope your knee gets better Blathers.
I will miss Parkrun this weekend as I am going on a boozy weekend away.
I almost feel a bit sad. Last week was first time I had enjoyed running in ages.
Will go for a run tomorrow.

IsThatTrue · 26/09/2013 22:03

Blush I don't do any warm up before a run, I really should shouldn't I?!

Oh lizzy parkrun will miss you too I'm sure, back to it next week :)

ohone 20 :) nearly halfway there. Sat will be 9 for me! :)
