English teacher, just wondering if you can recommend a good website with stretching info? my left calf in particular can feel tight.
I've just done w2r1 in the sunshine and it was fab (still hard)
I think ive got my foot problem sorted, I have got lovely trainer's for pronation from a running shop. being a bit of a numpty I was using my orthotics as well and it was too much. Feet are much improved tonight after removing the insole and just having orthotics in.Smile

nearlyreadytopop · 04/06/2013 20:39

wizzler, well done on 5mins without stopping. Thats like a far off dream to meGrin

cinnamongreyhound · 04/06/2013 20:52

Glad your Sunday run was good pennygallops!

If you use the podcast LIZS it has music on it, otherwise with apps you need to start music first.

Hope you're feeling better now NamelessMcNally!

Yay for your knee eminemmerdale!

Well done nearlyreadytopop, fruitpastille, wizzler and sallysparrow157!

Well done on the 20mins travellingwilbury and sorry to hear about your toe :(

So much is mental invicta, sounds like the 12 mins is a barrier in your mind as I'm sure you can do more Grin. Can you perhaps make a list of songs you need to get to the end of?

Hope you're feelin better soon chopstheduck!

Welcome Pollydon, Lynca, totatola and mrsbob :) there is a c210k mrsbob check out how long that is maybe? I see that was already suggested, but behind the last few days!

Had to laugh watchingout, you still managed half of it with shorter recoveries so I'm are you'll be fine!

I'd say just take it easy on the hilly bits amigababy. Laura is on the nhs podcast not an app.

I had the same route nextphase when doing the c25k but now I like to vary it. I personally don't stretch but I'm sure there are plenty of people to tell me off for that!!

Sorry to hear that dementedma, I prefer spring time running. Last year in the week of summer we had I went running at 9pm for cooler time. We still have quite a breeze at the moment.

Finally got through all posts, its been a busy few days on here! Been busy with managing Billy, cats and working! Nightmare with my minded kids eating, playing with balls in the garden and answering the door not to mention that he follows us everywhere and is not happy at night :(. He's such a softy and considering he's never been in a house before is doing sooooo well but its just logistics of it all. My cats all came home last night after dh went up to bed with Billy so that's a relief!

I haven't been able to run yesterday or today but my friend and I are going to our committee meeting in running clothes and hoping its a short one and we can go afterwards. Dh is off Thursday so we can spend some time together (with ds2), would it be wrong for me to go for a run just for 40-60mins out of that day while I have him to look after ds2?

I have entered a half marathon in November Shock slightly terrified now! Was 1198 out of 1200 entrants, so almost missed it. Now do I go for the July one as well!!'

Wow, what a lot of new people! Hello everyone Smile waves

Am feeling a little put out and deprived tonight - got home from work to find lovely DH had made supper... he'd forgotten I had planned to run and it was all ready - and it was a stir fry so the odds of keeping it hot successfully were nil. So I didn't run... I would never have thought, a few months ago, I would feel disappointed if I couldn't run Shock Can't manage tomorrow either as I'm going out so I won't run till Thursday now Sad

watchingout · 04/06/2013 23:19

That's quite inspiring wizzler - I'm still very much and the redfaced and wheezing sage in w1. Off to do the longer version of r3 tomorrow first thing - with podcast speed checked at 1x!

Pollydon · 05/06/2013 06:57

Mornin all ! Ive just completed W1R3, but I'm off away for the weekend & will not manage a run whilst away ( on a boat), would I be ok to do one more w1 when I return, then go on to w2, or should I just crack on to w2 ?

watchingout · 05/06/2013 07:08

me too! Shins are hurting this morning - any advice?
I'm away this weekend too in a shepherds hut. Might be able to run but not sure if theres a shower yet - I have visions of a bucket strung up in a tree!

englishteacher78 · 05/06/2013 07:09

It's entirely up to you whether or not you do week 1 again, it's a training plan - not a training schedule. Plans can change Grin
As for stretching websites; google Run England or try the websites for the major running magazines. Women's Running, Runner's World etc.
Btw my husband is in this Mother's Runner's World beams with pride

pennygallops · 05/06/2013 07:39

Ooooh, lots of posts. Can't read in detail now. But it will something to look forward to tonight (whilst report writing). Please don't laugh at my sad little running-obsessed life.

Happy running today, for those of you going out.

Pollydon · 05/06/2013 07:43

No pain in my shins, but Ive been doing first half on road, then 2nd half on local recreation ground & its much nicer running on grass Smile
Thanks Englishteacher, I think I will just wait & see how I feel on Monday

eminemmerdale · 05/06/2013 10:23

Ok, did third run last night and my 'buddy' and I are going to give wk two a go on Thurs (gulp..)

yetanotherworry · 05/06/2013 10:56

Just completed W6R1 and now enjoying coffee and a cream cake :) It was very warm out there this morning and couldn't wait to get back home for a drink.

Travellingwilbury, I hope your toe gets better soon.

Cinammon, have you done a half marathon before. Is the training any different?

JH1967 · 05/06/2013 11:17

Can now say I have finished C25K WooHoo.

Went out for 5k run this morning and did it in 35 minutes! no posh phones and analog watch so give or take. Grin

mamageekchic · 05/06/2013 12:32

Can I join you all? Just completed wk1 run 1, I downloaded the app weeks ago so I'm chuffed with myself just for getting my trainers on and getting started. I covered just over 3.5k so 5k now doesn't seem such a stretch. I so want to be able to run, the few people I know who really seem to be at peace with themselves are runners, I think that time with my own thoughts and confidence in the strength of my own body might be the key to happiness for me. Unfortunately I find breathing while jogging a real challenge so it may a while getting there. Looking forward to day 2, am I supposed to alternate days?

cinnamongreyhound · 05/06/2013 17:04

Furthest I've run is 10k in a race. I think the training is the same just building up longer distance runs.

wizzler · 05/06/2013 19:08

Well done JH1967.... How long did it take you from getting off the couch.. did you do it in 9 weeks ?

UmBongo · 05/06/2013 21:13

I've FINISHED! Well I did another 4.11 run in the allotted 30 minutes of w9r3, but I could have gone a teeny bit further in the time as I had to get through/over 4 gates and walk a little bit as there were cows strolling back to the field and I didn't want to encourage them to run too! [not brave with cows]

Well done JH1967 I too will have to keep on running to see how long it takes me to run the full 5k, but I was very pleased to stop when she said stop!

I don't have a posh phone either, I use map my run.com so I will have to map a route out as 5k then time myself to run it. I may treat myself to a cheap digital watch with a stopwatch on it.

wizzler yes I did the lot in 9 weeks, didn't repeat any weeks, but that may be why I am soooo sloooooow. BUT it still counts as running Grin

mamageekchic, yes, give yourself a rest day, and well done for starting - you've done the hardest bit, and you have to keep going now cos you've told us!

pennygallops - how's the report writing going?!

wizzler · 05/06/2013 21:32

Umbongo.. congratulations. Well done for doing it in 9 weeks too. I too am very very slow.... at what point will I speed up like those gazelle like creatures who float past me as I plod along? Is the transformation a gradual one ?!

jchocchip · 05/06/2013 21:37

Well done JH1967Flowers Flowers and Umbongo Flowers Flowers for finishing and mamageekchick for starting :) and Cinnamon you are way out in front entering a half Grin

cinnamongreyhound · 05/06/2013 22:18

Congratulations JH1967 and UmBongo!!

Welcome mamageekchick, 3.5k for week 1 is great :)

Just back from 9k in 53mins. To enter July half or not?!? That's 5 weeks to go from 6 miles max to 13 miles max, perhaps asking too much!

OP posts:
Chopstheduck · 06/06/2013 09:09

hmm, that does sound a bit of a quick increase! Maybe see how next couple of weeks go?

My leg is still hurting :( God knows what I have done to it. Not run in nearly a week now. Been cycling miles instead, and that is fine, though it hurts when I walk fast. All down the outside side of my knee, top of calf and some pain in outside of hip and ankle too. I want to RUNNNN!

Well done UmBongo!

Chopstheduck · 06/06/2013 09:10

And to JH1967!! Congrats x

nextphase · 06/06/2013 10:23

Mamageek - was that 3.5 km covered in warmup, jog/walk section and cool down, or excluding the warm up/cool down period?

Can I just say thank-you to you all - you've got me off my (large) backside, and moving, and it is already cutting my sugar cravings - presumably extra excerise is helping me regulate my blood sugar Flowers

nearlyreadytopop · 06/06/2013 15:33

nextphase im about to start low carbing as the amount of sugar I eat and the cravings I get are crazy. Hoping running and low carbs will reduce my arse sizeGrin

BIWI · 06/06/2013 18:17

Oooh - you need to come and join my Bootcamp, nearlyready!

I went out and did Week 1/Run 2 this morning, and it was absolutely glorious outside. Shins seem OK so far, and I'm stretching every time I think about it. I'm a bit impatient to get going though. Going back to only running for a minute at a time is frustrating!
