How come you've overtaken me nextphase?! We were at the same point, now you're a run ahead!

Still refusing to check out what comes next, but I happily accepted Laura telling me 3x 5 min runs this morning Grin and last week I was having sleepless nights about the thought of one

Can't believe that it works BUT IT DOES and I'm still here. Got up early on a day off from work! Even waved cheerily and sweatily at a neighbour this morning.

watchingout · 01/07/2013 18:05

OK, this is my first attempt at linking so don't laugh...

I just read this and was inspired in my W5 wobbles.. so thought it should be shared Smile

nextphase · 01/07/2013 19:43

Where are you Watching I did w5r2 this morning (unusual - normally run in the evenings). Not sure when r3 is going to happen tho - I can get out wed PM, but there is an abs and cardio class that evening, and I try and swim on a fri (all dependant on DH working in the area, if hes working away, nothing gets done). Dare I fit in a 20 min run on thurs???

Interesting link, thankyou.

blizy · 01/07/2013 19:51

After serious doubts that I would manage w2r1 as I am just recovering from D&V, I did it. And dare I say it, I found it ok! I am loving this so far.

NigellaEllaElla · 01/07/2013 20:53

Right, you've all convinced me. From Wednesday I'm on it. Will report back then, if I'm still breathing...........

NigellaEllaElla · 01/07/2013 21:52

Just downloaded an App. That means its serious ..............

Dingle · 01/07/2013 22:05

Whoop, whoop! I did W4R1 ok'ish, although I must look like a nuclear reactive beetroot now!

Took it slower again, walking at 4.2 and plodding at 4.8mph. Clocked up 2.5 miles and burnt off 300 calories. For the first time I am well under MFP calorie goal of 1200....I was rushing around and didn't have a proper lunch Blush so I am rewarding myself with a pack of quavers.

EeTraceyluv · 01/07/2013 22:17

Ouch, that was a bit tricky - di w4 r3 again and struggled a bit - mustn't take three days off again Grin. However, by the final 5 minute run, was, again, amazed to hear matey saying 'cool down' so quickly! Starting w5 on weds.....

gingerpinz · 02/07/2013 00:52

I've been slacking a bit and not been out since my rubbish run last Saturday but am determined to finish the programme before we go away in a couple of weeks so ran to my bodybalance class this evening. Went ok until about half way then started to struggle a bit and decided I was going to stop at 20 mins but then said to myself I was just going to carry on to the end of the row of trees and by that point I'd done 21 mins so gave myself a talking to and pushed on for the full 25,including a slight increase in pace right at the end! Bit of a plod overall but still really pleased with myself and it has given me my confidence back a bit so am ready to tackle week 8 on Wednesday.

hairtwiddler · 02/07/2013 08:21

Setting off on first run of week 9 after the school run. I'm really not feeling up to it - calves a bit stiff, no energy but I have some new running gear from Sainsbury's (great bum covering tops there just now, and sports legging things) so I'm forcing myself out.
I'll report back....

gingerpinz · 02/07/2013 08:37

Good luck hairtwiddler!

Thanks for mentioning the sainsbury's stuff, will go and have a look.

hairtwiddler · 02/07/2013 09:42

I'm back! Managed the 30mins of running no problem once I got into my stride. I was all excited because I thought I did the 5k circular route I mapped out from my house and got home after 30mins 30 secs. Sadly it seems I missed a bit so only covered 4k.

On the bright side though, I felt like I could have run for longer. So I'm slow but I should work up to running 5k in about 37mins.

Off to look at improver podcasts for next week. My phone is on the blink though so need to get that looked at before I can use it seriously for running.

gingerpinz · 02/07/2013 09:59

Great stuff, well done!

I am a week behind you and don't think I will be anywhere near 5k in 30 mins but that can be worked on. Just running for that length of time is an achievement...I can still vividly remember when 3 mins was a struggle!!

hairtwiddler · 02/07/2013 10:04

I know! Can hardly believe how much I've improved. Tried the programme before but didn't get further than week 3. This time I'm motivated by turning 40 and some health issues so I need to be fitter. It's so ace to be running along in the park, thinking, 'get me, I'm a runner!'.

EeTraceyluv · 02/07/2013 11:01

It's so ace to be running along in the park, thinking, 'get me, I'm a runner!'. This Grin

sarahandduck · 02/07/2013 12:46

Well done hairtwiddler..and everyone else too. It's def getting easier...I did W8r2 just now...28 mins and I covered 5.4k! Am so chuffed with myself. There's no going back now. :)

yetanotherworry · 02/07/2013 14:58

hairtwiddler, I did w9r yesterday and only (!) managed 4.1 km in the 30 mins.

Wow, sarahamdduck, that's a fantastic distance... have you got really long legs? Is that 5.4km including your warm up/cool down walks?

hairtwiddler · 02/07/2013 15:48

We could virtually run together then yetanotherworry! Have you decided what you will do when you finish? I'm going to put some intervals back in to try and increase speed.

sarahandduck · 02/07/2013 15:56

Lol yetanother....I wish I did have long legs. I'm 5'4". No, the distance was purely running. I am so fired up with it all I just want to get out there again...next run on Thursday. Bring it on!!

jellybrain · 02/07/2013 17:10

Eeek have pulled my calf muscle- anyone got any tips for sorting it out?

TwasBrillig · 02/07/2013 18:12

Wow to those of you now proper runners!

I think my ankle has stopped aching so will try 4 run 1. I still think 3 minutes is a long time so will see how I go tomorrow!

travellingwilbury · 02/07/2013 19:00

Wk 5 r 2 done today . It was hard but doable . I am really pleased as I had got to the end of Wk 5 before I broke my two so next week I will be in new territory .

It looks like everyone is doing really well ! I am still struggling imagining myself being a proper runner and getting to Wk 9 .

BIWI · 02/07/2013 19:03

Did week 4/run 2 today. On holiday, running up and down hills in hot sunshine. It was bloody hard work! But I did it, and - all being well with the shins/weather - will be going again on Thursday ....

hairtwiddler · 02/07/2013 19:21

Well done all! Eek jelly, I don't know, sorry. Sounds sore. Hope it's not too bad.

Bakingtins · 02/07/2013 21:08

Yay! Did W3R1 and it was ok. I cheated a bit by staying at the park until I'd done all the running as it's uphill all the way home, so I had a long warm down walk, but no matter. 3 weeks ago I though 60s was never going to end and today I ran 3 mins and felt like I could have kept going. It is working....
