Does anyone want to join me. Its my third attempt started today.

The first time I got pregnant mid way through. Second time was the start of the year and it was too snowy and cold and I was ill.

So psyched myself up again.

I need some company.

It will get better Miranda.

Pip my c25k buddy well done you. I am not sure some of my runs constituted running but I did it anyway.

Just want to pop in here and encourage you all, keep at it even when it's tough-running is so good for you and you'd be surprised how you can train your body to do more and more. 2 years ago I did the ct5k when I was 3 stone overweight, I could barely trot along and needed all my walk breaks!

Now I'm a healthy weight, and tonight I ran 9 miles. Next month I'm running a half marathon. I'm still a slow runner but if you'd have told me a few years ago that my body could do this I would have laughed in your face! I can eat as much as I like because my running burns it all off, I'm happy and stress-free and I have running to thank. Honestly, it might sound a bit twee but ct5k really makes you realise you can pretty much achieve anything.

Thanks Auntfini - fellow Aunt!

I did the last run of week 4 today, on a treadmill at lunchtime. That means in 3 runs time Laura (from the podcast) thinks I will be running for 20 mins?!!!

I can't run on Thursday, so I'm not sure whether to go tomorrow and Friday or Friday and Saturday.

Remus - that sounds great. The 3 different Week 5 runs with the nhs podcast are supposed to be;

  1. 5 mins warm up walk, 5mins running and 3 min walking x3,

  2. 5 mins warm up walk, 8mins running and 5 mins walking x 2,

  3. 5 mins warm up walk, then 20 mins running

Did my run straight after taking dc to school and it was cold and wet! Easier than monnday though - felt I could have gone on a bit longer (well maybe 2 minutes anyway Grin)

I started 5k again this week from week 1, monday was my first run and today will be my second Smile I'm actually looking forward to it in a weird but wary way Hmm

I really want to loose weight and tone up, but I don't want to push myself too much and give up, so for now I'm not dieting just doing the cto5k and pole fitness Smile

Well second run complete Wink I have now downloaded the app for my phone! I really enjoyed my run and felt that my fitness has already improved! But I had a blister which was painful and then burst Confused

I'm just wondering what type of socks everyone wears? As my ankles always seem to rub on my trainers!

Thanks Auntie.

  1. 5 mins warm up walk, 5mins running and 3 min walking x3, Can do this, okay I think

  2. 5 mins warm up walk, 8mins running and 5 mins walking x 2, Yep, that's about what i want to aim for

  3. 5 mins warm up walk, then 20 mins running Oh my gosh - TWENTY MINUTES straight? Not sure about that!

Re socks - I just bought some little Adidas running socks: I like them a lot.

Week 4 day 2 I can now say I have done. The first run was the worst. I did take it relatively easy and was still running at a slow pace at the end. I didn't die. Still in 4 runs time I have to run 20 minutes flat [faints].

So instead of going to the pub - I went for a run - in the rain. LOSER!

Week one run two completed. Felt better than last time but my legs are feeling tied up already (only been home half an hour). I did extra stretches too... Oh well. I know it's only the second run but I'm quite proud of myself - running isn't my thang. I've lost a bit of baby weight this year doing 30DS so my fitness levels aren't too bad & moved onto Jillian Michaels' longer work outs, but if I can run 3 times a week (a bit of me time) and do a DVD a couple of times a week I'll be happy that I'm going in the right direction!

Has anyone tried workout shorts? They claim to make you work harder probably because of swearing!!!

I have failed. Had a couple of exhausting days at work and didn't go running last night on the promise I'd go tonight. Tonight I came home with a stonking headache, so didn't go - and have just eaten takeaway curry, followed by a bar of chocolate. Please can you give me a good talking to? Will try harder tomorrow.

HalleLouja · 14/09/2012 20:49

You didn't fail. Just took a well deserved break (see what I did there). I have cooked a curry but as DS isn't asleep (he might be now) its not been eaten - yet.

Go out tomorrow morning and then you will be forgiven.

I went out tonight for the first time since Monday. It was tough for the first run but then was okay. Having a 10 year old on his bike telling me to go faster helped, plus the time went quicker.

I went out today, still doing the same run, a teeny bit easier but not easier enough to go up to the next level.

Feel good about going out in this heat though and glad that's another under my training belt Smile

Good luck with week 5 Halle - hope it goes smoothly.
Remus - did you make it out today? There are bound to be times when a session or two gets missed and RL gets in the way, I suppose the trick is to not to let missing sessions become a habit. Good luck with your next run.
invicta - your DS sounds like a hard task master, do you hire him out?
I very impressed that everyone else are sticking to their runs, it's good to know I'm not the only fool determined individual puffing my way through the weeks.

I finished week 4 today and am not looking forward to week 5 at all. What's the saying? Feel the fear and do it anyway?
