Couch to 5k 2011 Part Four: Post even if you haven't run!

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 19/10/2011 21:42

Yet more space for us to talk about our progress on the Couch to 5K programme, the stuff we wear, the music we listen to, the gadgets we use and our nail varnish.

New runners are warmly welcomed - come and give it a whirl, you know you want to! There has been a lot of success on this thread, both in the UK and internationally, moral support is abundant, and there is always a kick up the arse for anyone who needs one!

Some of us are on our second time round now, so don't worry that you will be behind, just jump in whatever stage you are at.

Oh you're all doing so WELL! [proud mother hen emoticon]

Hope your leg is a bit better Linzer and not a long term thing. We can't have you hobbling around Harvey Nicks nail varnish department now can we? Grin

I've still not been out running this week but am continuing to post here because the thread title says I can - you can't be rid of me that easy, mwahahahaha!

LinzerTorte · 27/10/2011 19:56

Thanks Nell. At least I have an excuse to put my feet up and paint my nails. Smile Such a shame you can't make it to our London varnishfest meet-up. Grin

LinzerTorte · 27/10/2011 19:57

Sorry, that Grin looked rather gleeful. It should in fact have looked like this: Sad

NellVarnish · 28/10/2011 00:10

Hehe Linzer, yep I would have loved to have been there. :(

But I want a FULL REPORT of everything from nails to running techniques as it happens like the BBC News 24 or CNN.

Grin

Night all.

NellVarnish · 28/10/2011 22:37

Heavens, have the zombies got you all? Shock

sweaty I've just been watching the news and weather an it would appear a snowstorm is heading your way. Tis early is it not for your snowboots? Oh and watch out for the mailman ...

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 28/10/2011 22:52

Ha, i'm busy hiding from the zombies whilst MNing on phone and waiting for my hallowe'en nail varnish to dry. No running today though.

A new thread! I really have fallen behind

Well done all you still running I will get back to it - I will. A collective MN kick up the arse is all I need. That and DH to actually want to go running with me.

shreddedandnotatallsmug · 28/10/2011 23:20

Nooooooooooo Nelly, my boys are due to fly home tomorrow night and much as I'd love to keep them for longer, the thought of a travel delay is stressing me out already.

I've done no running (or any other exercise) all week in honour of half term.

NellVarnish · 28/10/2011 23:34

Aww glad you're having a good time with them shredded, it just goes so fast. You can catch up on exercise once they've gone back, and then it won't be that long till you see them again.

Look. Mind you, how reliable that is, is anyone's guess. We had a horrible day on Wednesday, it poured down, then yesterday and today have been glorious.

Oh WhoKnows, what have you got on your nails for Halloween then? I tried to get some of that China Glaze Ghoulish Glow but they were sold out. Twas probably horrid anyway.

Welcome back melancholy, I like your name change. I must go to bed soon or I will be like a zombie tomorrow and if the weather is good, we're planning a nice, brisk, bracing walk through the autumn leaves somewhere if I can get the teenagers out of bed.

Night night :)

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 28/10/2011 23:37

I've gone back to the Double Decker Red Nell, looks like blood......

Morning all

In a PRSP at the moment Grin
W5R2 done and dusted, can't believe that I managed to run for 8 minutes without stopping!! So chuffed. Just not thinking about Monday, and 20 minutes in a row, without stopping! But so many people here have managed - so I am just going to do my best!

My nails need redone, after a week of chocolate brown, I think I am going to try the China Glaze Westside Warrior which is a green. That is the plan for this evening, but given DS is having a birthday sleepover - it may not quite happen, so it may have to wait until tomorrow night.

Ran in the rain this morning, not my intention, but the heavens opened 5 minutes in. I am not liking running with soggy feet, but apart from that it is ok.

Right, must go get organised before DS Friends arrive
Happy running everyone.
Bafana

BsshBossh · 29/10/2011 11:27

Found you all. I haven't run for 3 weeks but I have run out of excuses (holiday, illness, half term) so I repeat week 4 tomorrow morning!

countessbabycham · 29/10/2011 13:54

I started doing the c25k as part of my zombie survival plan....

Really not doing well at getting out with it being half term.I'd like to think I'll get the chance to do Wk6r2 today but if not it's got to be tomorrow.

My nailvarnish is in a shocking stste and to add insult to injury half term stress has reduced me to nibbling the skin at the sides of my nails making them sore...
Looking forward to the kids back at school and a little more running and a little less eating and finger-nibbling.

Have just got 30 Day Shred from the Library.20 lbs in 30 days.I wish!!!

Hope your all doing well whether your exertions be running or nailpainting!
Have asked my Mum to keep her eyes open in her local Lidl's for a running cag...I fancy neon pink.
Tarrah for now!

JelliBelli · 29/10/2011 16:26

well done those of you who have actually managed to get out and run (Nell ? Wink)

Hope you had a fab week with the boys Sweaty. How old(ish) are they? Do they travel alone? I would be very nervous about that (not judgey at all - quite the opposite - just sympathetic to a mum's worries Grin).

Not managed to get out and run myself this week just passed and not quite sure what I shall be able to manage this week coming either. I may have to struggle to get out of bed and run before work. I need to get a grip.

I plan to re do the intervals of C25k but running faster this time. I really am seriously contemplating a Half marathon in the spring now - I am just looking for one near enough and at the right time. I need these plans to keep exercising during the mild winter we are just about to enjoy!!! (fingers very firmly crossed). Thanks for the training plan Sweaty (I think it was you!). I will probably follow the Bupa one as I have had great success with their 5k and 10k plans and if it ain't broke......, but thanks. Are you tempted?

shreddedandnotatallsmug · 29/10/2011 17:14

Hi Jelli. Boys are (1) teenaged and (2) about to enter double figures. This half term was their first ever trip on their own, so a big deal for them and for me Grin. Last week when they were coming out here the train they were on from Yorkshire to London broke down so we had dramas before they even got to the airport - luckily I had built in several hours extra time, but even so they only just made it. It is blizzard-like just now (photos on profile), but apparently not supposed to lie. Airport still open for now, and I've left JFK in worse conditions than this.

Thank you for not judging Grin. I usually name change for the boarding school threads Grin.

Can you link to the BUPA plan? I don't mind which one we follow, but I am tempted - but will need a buddy to keep me going Grin

JelliBelli · 29/10/2011 18:34

Hi Sweaty, I am not sure whether to do the half marathon or not [scared emoticon] and if I do it'll depend on my speed for 5km (after redoing the c25k plan but faster runningShock) whether i follow the beginner half marathon or the intermediate half marathon plan

I can't get to your profile to see your snow - i don't know if I am being dim though [clutz emoticon] but I hope it miraculously melts and the boys get away to plan. UnMNy hugs for when they've gone though.

countessbabycham · 29/10/2011 18:41

Phew! Managed Wk6r2 this pm.Still finding it hard going - perhaps I may have to consider holding back and repeating some.I'll see how the 25 min run goes.

countessbabycham · 29/10/2011 18:42

shredded I think I may be being a bit slow in only just working it out,but are you in The States?

mollycuddles · 29/10/2011 18:50

Hi all. Not been out since wednesday. Dh not feeling well today so didn't go. Definitely going in the morning though. Definitely planning on a half but not sure about plans just yet. Am joining running club and the guy in charge writes running plans for members so will likely follow that but haven't actually properly joined yet (new membership year from 11th november)
Sorry for lack of personals. On phone and meant to be doing dinner.

NeitherShreddedNorSmug · 29/10/2011 21:24

Hello countess, yes I am Grin.

countessbabycham · 29/10/2011 21:44

[very proud of working that one out emoticon]

RatherBeOnThePiste · 29/10/2011 22:29

Good evening x

RatherBeOnThePiste · 29/10/2011 22:30

Snowed in yet Sweaty?!

NeitherShreddedNorSmug · 30/10/2011 03:12

Sadly not pistey. Just back from JFK. Lots of snow due overnight - 4-6 inches apparently, so I may not be running tomorrow Grin.
