Couch to 5k 2011 Part Four: Post even if you haven't run!

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 19/10/2011 21:42

Yet more space for us to talk about our progress on the Couch to 5K programme, the stuff we wear, the music we listen to, the gadgets we use and our nail varnish.

New runners are warmly welcomed - come and give it a whirl, you know you want to! There has been a lot of success on this thread, both in the UK and internationally, moral support is abundant, and there is always a kick up the arse for anyone who needs one!

Some of us are on our second time round now, so don't worry that you will be behind, just jump in whatever stage you are at.

Hi Ladies,

Just a quickie as I'm going to the airport! Off to sunny Spain for a few days.

I'll confess to not running for a week or so - hopeless - so I hope to get back into the swing of things a bit better without snow/ice and darkness to help me wimp out hinder me.

I may be able to get online to say hello but if not have a fab few days, don't eat too much (ha ha) and remember how good it feels in PRSP!

Merry Christmas, JB

JingleNells · 22/12/2011 20:00

Merry Christmas to you too jelli! Have fun! I am just off to sodding sainsburys EnvyEnvyEnvyEnvyEnvyEnvy

Grin
WhoKnowsWhereTheMistletoes · 22/12/2011 20:09

Merry Christmas Jelli and everyone else too.

Enjoy Sainsburys Nell

Red spotty nails looked awful BTW, so I just painted the red all over the silver, and am now the proud owner of metallic red nails (with little blobs in them).

RatherBeOnTheMulledWine · 23/12/2011 09:19

Morning everyone and Happy Christmas in case I don't catch up with you all before. Am planning to go running again today! Then after Christmas can we talk music again? I think I need to add in some new stuff to my running classics Wine Cheers!

NeitherShreddedNorSmug · 24/12/2011 01:40

Thanks to Jelli I have had going round my head all day Grin. I couldn't believe it was from 1974 Grin. Hope you have a fab time and get back to the running in the New Year.

Nell hope you are not STILL in Sainsbos! DH has done all our shopping Grin

Merry Christmas to you too WhoKnows, and welcome back to the fold pistey! I have been running as slowly as ever to some new toons. I made a playlist using the genius jobby on itunes but my library is so old and rubbish it is full of Dire Straits, Rolling Stones and Waterboys.

I'm in PRSP, I walked/ran 9.5 miles this afternoon Shock, so am less terrified of my half maraton --though I still don't know why I signed up for it or this - there aren't even any bells on offer Grin.

Happy Christmas to one and all, an looking forward to next year's chat about nail varnish our achievements Grin

NeitherShreddedNorSmug · 24/12/2011 03:23

My PRSP has gone away now that I've realised that I have PRBR

bra rash

JingleNells · 24/12/2011 09:16

Shredded I was almost afraid to click that last link for fear of what I might find Xmas Grin, but I see what you mean even though I've not been running. Cannot believe you have signed up for yet another run, you are a true runner now for sure, well done - you do deserve the PRSP, rashy norks or no rashy norks.

All is quiet Chez Nell at the moment, but then I am the only one up so far. And my nails are bare nekkid! That's not an OPI colour btw so don't go searching for it Xmas Grin. This will have to be remedied asap as it is Christmas Eve and it is illegal to have no glitter on your nails.

Hope everyone has a lovely, lovely Christmas and great runs (not from the turkey) if you venture out. Here's to a happy, healthy, PRSP filled 2012 for us all! Wine

WhoKnowsWhereTheMistletoes · 24/12/2011 09:20

I've been listening to my Christmas playlist on the odd occasion that I've managed to get out, has been lovely. Think I've got another cold though Sad, so officially given up till after Christmas.

Just wanted to say well done for all your achievements this year everyone, It was late Jan when I started out, so nearly a year, longer than I usually stick any exercise regime, and that's all thanks to you lot!

LinzerTinsel · 24/12/2011 17:18

Just popping in to wish you all a wonderful Christmas from wet and windy Wales. I've been getting into the festive spirit with this on my nails, which I got free at Boots today for buying two products that I may well not have bought otherwise.

Sorry to hear about your cold, WhoKnows. I thought I was coming down with one just before we came away, but managed to stave it off with echinacea and Vicks First Defence.

Nell I am very Envy of you being able to go to Sainsbury's. There are no decent supermarkets in Austria and only Morrison's where my parents live. Glad to hear I'm not breaking the law thanks to my glittery nails btw. Xmas Grin

Shredded 9.5 miles! Xmas Shock Well done, you are a true runner and my inspiration. Even though I suspect I will never be able to compete with talk of half-marathons and the like.

Winey Running? Again? So soon? Are you sure it's wise? Xmas Wink Because now everyone's overtaking me.

Jelli Enjoy sunny Spain. Xmas Envy

I have no more excuses - my knee/leg has been fine for weeks - so I'm going to go running as soon as I get home if only to work off all the Christmas food I've overindulged in.

WhoKnowsWhereTheMistletoes · 24/12/2011 17:55

Ooh, that's nice Linzer, subtle but festive.

LinzerTinsel · 24/12/2011 19:10

I do like it, I must admit. It's probably not one I'd have bought normally, but it's definitely more tasteful/less metallic than it looks from the bottle.

JingleNells · 24/12/2011 19:18

Good girl Linzer, glittericious! Am not sure about mine tonight. They are the least festive they have been all month. I look like I've been operating on someone, however gold glitter over the top should do the trick.

Hope all your Christmas prep is going to plan, I've just watched carols at Kings, was lovely.

Think some Wine might be in order ....

WhoKnowsWhereTheMistletoes · 24/12/2011 23:51

Waaaaah, ten to midnight, exhausted and remembered that my nails are a state! All chipped and manky. To do them again or to go to sleep?

NeitherShreddedNorSmug · 25/12/2011 00:05

Do them, do them, do them

WhoKnowsWhereTheMistletoes · 25/12/2011 08:56

I did them, and am glad now, it only took 10 mins. Glittery purple again!

Merry Christmas everyone.

JingleNells · 25/12/2011 13:04

That's my girl! Well done WhoKnows!

Happy Christmas everyone, just off to massacre a turkey Xmas Grin, hope you're all having a lovely day!

Kristingle · 25/12/2011 21:45

Christmas wishes to you all.

I did my first park run yesterday. And i wasnt last [boast].in fact there were 100 people after me.

Almost enjoyed it. And will defo do it again

Off to watch downton

NeitherShreddedNorSmug · 25/12/2011 23:27

Well done Kristingle! Hope you've had a lovely day.

WhoKnows, glad to see you've been keeping up the standards Grin

Nell - hope you won against the bird. We always have beef on Christmas Day tradition from when DH and I were too poor to have meat very often unless someone else is cooking

Kristingle · 26/12/2011 10:04

PRSP here. Am starting early on my new years resolution, which is to be fitter on my BIG birthday in march than i was a decade ago.

Hope you all had a lovely christmas

NeitherShreddedNorSmug · 26/12/2011 15:29

Brilliant Kristingle. Sunny here, so I may go out later.

LinzerTinsel · 26/12/2011 20:29

Well done on the park run, Kristingle.

Envy of your sunshine, Shredded. I think we saw the sun for about two minutes this afternoon, but wouldn't swear to it.

Nells Did you go for the gold glitter over the top in the end? I'm still loving my silvery glitter and wish I'd discovered it earlier.

WhoKnows I bought some of that Sally Hansen top coat you recommended and it seems to work well, although this Barry M polish is pretty forgiving - the real test will come when I use it on top of something like Vivid Violet. But if it means I can have my nails done in 10 minutes, it will revolutionise my life.

I really wish I could get out as I'm feeling so bloated after the indulgences of the last few days. I'm also feeling flabbier since I stopped running regularly, although it's probably more psychological than anything. Ah well, only five days until we're back in Austria - although we'll probably be at my ILs (where I shall still be running shoe-less) for one or two days. I shall definitely get out next week, however.

ILOUminatedXmasTree · 27/12/2011 21:38

Did my first run today.

I have started before but stopped as I got pregnant. But need to start again. Got to running 20 minutes which was amazing.

Kristingle · 27/12/2011 22:13

Well done louSmile

NeitherShreddedNorSmug · 27/12/2011 22:51

Well done Lou!

No sunshine here today - blowing a hooly outside.

DS1 and DH went to see Mission Impossible today, DS2 and I went for War Horse instead. I emerged a red-eyed snotty-nosed wreck - and I don't even like animals!

ILOUminatedXmasTree · 28/12/2011 11:01

Am aching today. Ouchy but am going running tomorrow.
