Couch to 5k 2011 Part Four: Post even if you haven't run!

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 19/10/2011 21:42

Yet more space for us to talk about our progress on the Couch to 5K programme, the stuff we wear, the music we listen to, the gadgets we use and our nail varnish.

New runners are warmly welcomed - come and give it a whirl, you know you want to! There has been a lot of success on this thread, both in the UK and internationally, moral support is abundant, and there is always a kick up the arse for anyone who needs one!

Some of us are on our second time round now, so don't worry that you will be behind, just jump in whatever stage you are at.

OP posts:
RatherBeOnTheMulledWine · 15/12/2011 18:01

Nelly love, I think you need to get out more...

JingleNells · 15/12/2011 18:01

We need photos Pistey - of the manicure, not of the pervy shoe. And how does Knotty know there's a market?!

JingleNells · 15/12/2011 18:07

They made me press them. Wink

RatherBeOnTheMulledWine · 15/12/2011 18:08

facebook

I certainly will do photos Nelly!!
And re the market for single shoes - tis a worry Grin

LinzerTinsel · 15/12/2011 18:50

Loving the Christmas name, Pistey. Or should I call you Wine? Yes, photos tomorrow please. FB is fine by me. Xmas Wink But we wouldn't want Nell to feel left out particularly if she can arrange to send me an OPI manicurist throught the post.

Ooh, do you get all the smileys lined up on your iPhone Nell? I cannot wait for mine to arrive, particularly as my phone died on me today - fortunately I was able to revive it, but it's definitely on its last legs which is hardly surprising considering the number of times I've dropped it.

I've decided that CGFA can hold out one more day, as a) DH is out tonight so I don't want to sit around painting my nails, and b) I'm going out Xmas Shock on Saturday night, so want my nails to be perfect for such a rare occasion.

I did look out for you and Eddie, Nell, but think I must have been putting the DC to bed out doing my nightly marathon. Do call in for Kaffee und Kuchen on your way back, though; I've just whipped up four dozen cupcakes and a Sacher Torte and have pressed a few grapes to make my own Glühwein, so there's plenty for any additional friends you'd like to bring along. Xmas Grin

RatherBeOnTheMulledWine · 15/12/2011 19:05

"Wine-y"
Then I can moan a lot Grin
And Nelly's on an iPhone. Like me. Got your opi app yet?!

LinzerTinsel · 15/12/2011 19:23

I have had my OPI app for months, thank you very much. Xmas Grin And it's even working again now that I've updated it.

Do feel free to rub in the fact that both you and Nell already have iPhones. Xmas Wink I probably won't get mine until the New Year as it's due to arrive when we're in the UK. Xmas Sad

WhoKnowsWhereTheMistletoes · 15/12/2011 19:26

Iphone - check
OPI purple glittery nails - check

JingleNells · 15/12/2011 19:31

whiny, my iPhone is only a 3 but I still love it just the same and yes indeed I do have the opi app. Tis a thing of wonder.

The little smilies are sitting in a row looking at me Linzer so it would be a shame not to use themSmileGrinSadWinkAngryEnvypBlush

Shame eddie and I couldn't stop for tea and cake but we wanted to get back to Calais before it got dark so we could swim back.

Facebook schmacebook.

LinzerTinsel · 15/12/2011 19:43

Apologies Winey, I thought your OPI question was addressed to me. But of course Nell is the nail guru and nouvelle iPhoniste.

So where are the smilies on my iPod then? Is it a special iPhone app? I want to produce smilies at the press of a finger!

I have eaten all the cake now in sheer frustration. How shall I work it off? So many possibilities...

LinzerTinsel · 15/12/2011 19:47

On Facebook - check
Babyliss Big Hair - check

That's all I need. Xmas Grin

JingleNells · 15/12/2011 19:58

Mine are all in a row just above the keyboard but below where you write iyswim. Tres handy. Paint your nails, that's exercise surely.

WhoKnowsWhereTheMistletoes · 15/12/2011 19:59

BBH - check
slow cooker - check
30 Day shred - haha
Flylady - check

Ahem, I know it says post even if you haven't run BUT:

Has ANYONE been for a run today? I'm still too poorly

LinzerTinsel · 15/12/2011 20:09

Nope, they're definitely not there Nell. Hurry up, iPhone!

Umm, no WhoKnows. I am taking your and everyone else's advice apart from Nell's and not running until the New Year so I shall continue to hijack the thread post about polish and apps without feeling overly guilty. Much as I would love to join in the running talk.
You've left off MN book swap club btw. Well, we tried... Did you manage to get through Star of the Sea in the end?

JingleNells · 15/12/2011 20:35

Oh I tried star of the sea once, it was dire. On a par with the godawful Cloud Atlas.

I've got DD2 sitting beside me on the sofa barking like a seal. Tres annoying. [unfit mother emoticon]

BBH - sadly not
Shred - check (still in cellophane)
Shiny sink - check ( but that's as far as ive got)

Can I still post please miss? about trivia?

JingleNells · 15/12/2011 20:37

WhoKnows are you barking like a seal? Or just barking?

Grin
WhoKnowsWhereTheMistletoes · 15/12/2011 20:44

I didn't mean you Linzer - you have submitted a vaiid sicknote unlike some. I like the chat, makes me feel all cosy and nice. Just felt it would be nice to mention running, maybe once in a while?

I am still only on abut the second chapter of Star of the Sea, having not looked at it for at least a fortnight, I will be posting it on after Christmas finished or not (and it will be not).

Some would say just barking Nell....

Anyway, DH is out, I have the telly to myself, Masterchef and The Slap await me, along with my crochet and a big glass of something medicinal (not Lemsip).

LinzerTinsel · 15/12/2011 20:56

I like the chat too. And I like all the talk of 10k runs and breaking whatever-minute barriers even if it makes me feel Envy as I'm itching to get back out there again. Even though it's also quite nice to have an excuse in this chilly weather.

Oh, I'm glad it's not just me Nell. It's had rave reviews on Amazon and someone on our Fly thread said it was fantastic, so I felt like I must be missing something. Btw I have masochistically bought Black Swan Green after struggling through and hating number9dream. Are you a secret flyer with your shiny sink?

Your evening plans sound good, WhoKnows. DH is out too; no TV here because it's rubbish but I was planning on having an early night with Atonement. If I go now, it will still be at a decent hour if not early...

JingleNells · 15/12/2011 21:35

No I popped in the shiny sink thread for a look Linzer, clicked the link to the colourtastic site and promptly did a runner. Grin But I do like a shiny sink.

I too like the chat, and love to hear about all your running achievements, Atlantic swims and mountain climbing. And one day when I can get my arse into gear, I will be back posting W5R3 DONE, instead of showing you pretty pictures of Eddie Izzard my nails.

Promise.

I quite like Black Swan Green, compared to Cloud Atlas it is fab. I'm still reading the Caitlin Moran one, too tired and cba with the huffing and harrumphing about having the light on. Grrr.

WhoKnowsWhereTheMistletoes · 15/12/2011 21:39

Just downloaded the OPI app........

JingleNells · 15/12/2011 22:03

Good girl. Smile

RatherBeOnTheMulledWine · 15/12/2011 22:05

wot she said

LinzerTinsel · 16/12/2011 18:29

I too like having a shiny sink Nell but unfortunately that doesn't necessarily mean I have one. The site is indeed rather garish, isn't it? In her defence, I seem to remember that she's a fan of purple.

What's Caitlin Moran's book like? I've read a lot of good things about her on MN. Although I'm not really sure I need another book to add to my wish list as I already have around 30 on my to-read shelf.

Hope you're having fun with the OPI app, WhoKnows. I've just removed Audrey so my nails are looking very dull. I think I may be daring and go for red for the first time ever.

NeitherShreddedNorSmug · 17/12/2011 01:14

Since I have been burning so many calories this week with my Atlantic swim and, runs up and down Everest, Kilimanjaro and Mont Blanc and cross continent jog (without breaking sweat of course), I ate a small box of Ferraro Rocher this afternoon (also without breaking sweat). I'll leave you to guess which of those statements is true Grin.
