Today is the day I get my body back!!!
I used to be an 8 /10 and in the last two years I have put on 2 1/2 stone and now a good 14.

Here's what I love doing exercise wise
mountain biking - treks
some road biking
gym
some classes
archery
caving
swim
I have promised a friend I will go running with him
I occassionly rock climb.

Any ideas how I can make a programme that will get me slim again? - of course i am addressing food and drink intake.
At the moment it all seems daunting, as if I'm an impossible challenge.

I want to be a good deal fitter for when I go to Spain in October.

and another bad food day ystdy :(

upahill · 20/08/2011 21:54

My last couple of days haven't been brilliant!!
Meant to go on a bike ride today but that didn't happen (see the cycle thread!!)

Thursday was Ds birthday and that was just driving round and eating tbh!

NOW tomorrow is going to be different. I just know it!

How did you get on with your PT MABS?

OP posts:
Joby1970 · 23/08/2011 12:51

I think the key is really to plan exercise into the week - so book those classes for the week etc - it makes me feel I HAVE to go.

it's all about making time for yourself - as L'Oreal says "you're worth it"!

upahill · 23/08/2011 13:20

Hi Joby
I am very good at making time for myself. In fact I often have a lot of time on my hands. I had lost my way with motivation and had gone from being a gym bunny to finding time to do anything else but go!!!

I used to book in advance but my life a t m is in a state of change and I will be starting a new job soon that will involve shifts.

Saying all that I am getting my mojo back and have enjoyed classes, gym and getting some good rides on my bike in.

upahill · 23/08/2011 17:34

only the odd tomato and lettuce on the salad bar I'm afraid MABS Grin

You could ask for a salad pizza maybe without the crust?

upahill · 24/08/2011 16:42

I've been out on my mountain bike this morning and out on my road bike last night.

It's getting nearer to 6 o'clock and I'm thinking about Kettlebell trainging again.

It bloody well killed me last week but I'm going away for a few days from Friday so thinking 'mmmm better had!'

Your're pt sounds good.

At my gym there are loads of classes but you can pay £20 for a one to one where they make you work and I have seem people really sweat!!'

MABS · 25/08/2011 21:34

upahill · 25/08/2011 23:51

Well there isn't going to be much news from me over the next 5 days.
i'm off to the Edinburgh fringe and leaving the gym and bikes for a while.

I'm a bit Sad at that to be honest even though I love the Fringe!

Well done your DD. My lad is next year with his although I can predict the results now (not good!)

MABS · 30/08/2011 16:51

PT going well thanks, but i have no willpower re the food :( i will be better when kids back thurs!

KatieScarlett2833 · 30/08/2011 18:54

Can I join in?

Have never seen the inside of a gym in my life till last week, have been doing 30 mins cardio and 10 mins weights every day since. I need to lose a stone before mid October, will the gym get any easier?

Have food willpower but no stamina, please tell me it'll get easier soon....

MABS · 30/08/2011 21:40

It will! Welcome Katie, you are doing so very well.

Joby1970 · 31/08/2011 12:43

Katie - it will - promise!

What sort of cardio do you do? interval training is the best for weight loss.

MABS · 31/08/2011 14:34

i doing a pt session again tomorrow :( gonna hurt!!

KatieScarlett2833 · 31/08/2011 15:56

Treadmill, bikes for 30 mins gradually increasing difficulty levels. What is interval training Joby? Blush

I'm exactly one week in and got into a skirt today that I'd written off so it's working at least. Off to gym tonight at 6, went for a brisk walk in my lunch hour and ate a very healthy lunch.

Also dear ladies (may be gents too, sorry) how much water should I be drinking? Am getting through about 2 litres per day without much effort, should I be drinking more?

The only classes I have ever done since 1986 have been Yoga, which I love. Should I start this again or do something new?

So many questions, thank goodness for Mumsnet.

TIA

KatieScarlett2833 · 31/08/2011 16:01

Upahill

My babies are 16 (next week) and 14 and like you used to be size 8/10 without the slightest effort. For the last 3 years I have been working and studying every night, hence the fat ass weight increase.

I'm off on holiday in October too and want to get into my posh frocks again, sorry for hijack it's just you sound just like me!

upahill · 31/08/2011 17:07

Hiya Katie,
You haven't hijacked!!

Everyone welcome.

I haven't tried hard enough over the past week with being away in Edinburgh for the Fringe but trying to get back to a routine.
i'm going to Kettlebell training tonight and I'm mountain biking in the morning.
I keep telling myself I mustn't give up!

I cycled to work today but as it is only 1.5 miles away it hardly seemed the effort and my new job in a couple of weeks is even nearer!!

OP posts:
MABS · 31/08/2011 17:39

and me, I was a size ten easily til a year ago , now a size 12 and 18lbs heavier. I am tallish so can carry it but i HATE it so it has to go!!

Brilliant re kettlebell tonight Upahill, i out to dinner :( as kids back to school tomorrow :) :) :)

I doing pt tmro am then a spin class later so will probably die..

KatieScarlett2833 · 31/08/2011 20:17

Hello fellow potential skinnie minnies, just back from the gym and managed 30 mins hard level on treadmill. Have discovered that playing mah jong while running makes the time go faster..... Also managed 10 mins on bike and another 15 on crunches, leg weights, etc.

Am on exercise high, beginning to see how addictive this could become.

Upahill You guys are seriously inspirational, thanks so much for letting me join in.

MABS 2 classes in one day? I'd need medical help afterwards Smile

upahill · 31/08/2011 20:25

Hmm Kettlebell was cancelled tonight so I made do with 20 min on crosstrainer. I worked so hard that sweat was pouring and then some sqats with heavy (for me) weights and rows, lunges and the like.

Me and Dh going to the pub now but I'm sticking to lime and soda as I'm biking tomorrow.
