All coming into view now. Note the (UK) reportage is basically just signposting the UK immigration rules, which sounds good. Well, it has to, since what the Indians are asking for is basically visa free working in the UK. Oh, families too.

I say "asking" - but demanding is more the word. With every indication they will get it (don't tell Pakistan). Because Rish! is really up against the wall on everything.

I can easily see the Indians paying us in moon rock too.

You could print these and make one of those old-fashioned flick-books. A wonderful present for that special Brexiter in your life. ~AA

It's also worth remembering there was a lot of support for Leave from Indians, solely because they know it would result in immigration requirements being scrapped.

As you can imagine, they are rather too smug now, since they conned the racists into supporting them.

Just because - you've got to love Matthew Highton...

I knew before I opened that article that the sticking point would be the UK government refusing to pay. They are an utter embarassment.

However you notice the narrative is very much how it's the nasty EU not letting us in.

Succinctly put on twitter;

Brexit has failed due to the Brits who sold it as an idea, the Brits who voted for it, the Brits who negotiated it, the Brits who implemented it and because it was a really shit idea brought about by hatred. It’s not due to remainers, the EU, COVID or Ukraine. Own it.

having recently met a few recent graduates, I am impressed by the depth of rage they feel at having lost what we had. If Brexiteers had some game plan that it would all go away, I fear they will be disappointed.

If people thought we were cross - you ain't seen nothing yet.

Oh - and they haven't any time for Labour.

You are describing my son and his peers perfectly

Only yesterday I was reading about how Indias successfully space programme (a note to the dim: The UK is not one of the countries that has landed anything on the moon) would increase it's soft power in sciences.

Today, I read that suddenly they are upping the stakes with the UK over this trade deal. (Non morons will notice how the increased number of visas has quietly been accepted ....)

Remember: Indian doesn't need this deal anywhere near as much as a failed Brexit state does.

She was starting to be like the Status Quo of politics, really.

Overheard in the 90s:

Person A. "I saw the Quo on their farewell tour"
Person B. "Which one ?"

Getting Siri/Alexa/Google to red it to you is so much more appropriate.

Thank God. Nadine Dorries is finally going and not to the House of Lords. What a relief.
She should apologise to her constituents and Parliament for her shockingly self serving behaviour

Lots of things "should" happen than won't though.

There's an interesting thread on another part of MN about a schools head pupil policy and the unsavoury behaviour of the male head pupils. Loads of chatter etc etc but no real acknowledgement that in a society that not only tolerates, but celebrates Boris Johnson and his ilk, the behaviour wasn't anything these pupils hadn't seen our politicians do.

However since Mad Nads going full tonto is hardly going to be a recruiting slogan for the Tories, I'm quite happy for her to continue. She will be a useful idiot to the anti-Rish! contingent of deluded Tories who haven't given up on "Truss 2: This time it's personal" as their rallying cry.

SerendipityJane · 29/08/2023 12:24

In the AIBU thread around that, it's interesting how many posters tried to claim it wasn't Brexit related.

And the Gove threw them under a bus.

I have long since deduced that the best way to avoid being labelled thick, is to not act thick. Controversial as it may seem.
