Good King BBBBaBoris looked out,
on the Port of Dover,
There the shit lay round about,
Deep around the stopover;
Brightly shone the moon that night,
Tho’ the frost was cruel,
When a poor man came in sight,
Delivering stuff for Yule.

“Bugger SAGE and stand by me,
We've all stuff that needs selling,
Yonder peasant, who is he?
Where and what his dwelling?”
“Sire, he lives a good league hence,
The other side the EU;
Though relations maybe tense,
He's trying to get goods through.”

“Oh god I need another wine,
I have many crisis to consider:
We must tell them its all fine,
I must not be seen to dither.”
SAGE and monarch, forth they went,
forth they went together;
Through the nation's sad lament
and really crappy weather.

“Sire, our plight is darker now,
And the covid transmission stronger;
Fails my heart, I know not how;
To keep Tier 2 much longer.”
“Soon we can drop their wage.
And treat them all more coldly
In Britain's new chrony age
A time to rob more boldly.”

In their master’s steps they trod,
On the quest to get minted;
Each and every last sod
Needs to be fingerprinted.
Therefore, Christian men, be sure,
DWP claimants are processing,
Ye who now will bless the poor,
God its all so depressing.

@CendrillonSings

A glorious 521 to 73, majority of 448. Starmer humbled, Boris triumphant.

Merry Brexit, everyone! Smile

Worship, you all, down on your knees at BJ's crotch!
PussyCatInChristmasStockings · 30/12/2020 14:57

@Mistigri

I'm just filling time until Hancock, Williamson and BoJo turn up...

That is so masochistic it's positively kinky Grin

I hope you are playing Brexit bingo at least. Hic!

Hancocks Half Hour about to begin... I may have had a drinkypoos with lunch in preparation for this afternoon 😉
PussyCatInChristmasStockings · 30/12/2020 14:59

Elements there is no need for that. Shock 🤢🤢🤢
😂

SwedishEdith · 30/12/2020 15:02

From that Liz Truss interview:

Re her extramarital affair she’d had with the married Tory MP Mark Field five years earlier. Field’s marriage ended. Liz’s survived.

‘It was a baptism of fire,’ she says now. ‘And it was difficult but… I was so determined to stay selected and I wasn’t going to let… you know, I worked really, really hard and I won that selection fair and square.

‘And, actually, even though it was a really unpleasant thing to go through, it made me stronger afterwards because I had to have that fight.’

Did it make her marriage stronger?

‘I think that’s a separate thing. But I am really happily married.’

She is wearing a long Monica Vinader pendant that was a present from her husband, so things on that front seem to be fine and she says firmly she doesn’t want to discuss it any more. I notice that Liz doesn’t talk about the impact the affair had on her husband or express any regret over the hurt she might have caused. The focus is all on winning the selection process.

bellinisurge · 30/12/2020 15:03

This is such a big wankfest it's embarrassing.

GrinGrinGrin Recognising the poster in question, I just thought I would cut through the window-dressing directly to the underlying message GrinGrinGrin

Fair point well made.

😂

My MP Abstained
votes.parliament.uk/Votes/Commons/Division/931#notrecorded
I am pleased that he has a backbone.

ListeningQuietly · 30/12/2020 15:11

AAgghh
That link was for earlier in the day

What time is the full vote coming up on there ?

ListeningQuietly · 30/12/2020 15:12

Hmmm, it looks like they followed the Whip on the main vote.
NOT IMPRESSED

Mistigri · 30/12/2020 15:17

Starmer voting for the deal. I get the arguments against this, I really do. But to see him struggle with the rock-and-hard-place choice he had to make against those easy answers of those around him was really quite impressive.

LQ: above is from Ian Dunt. I don't necessarily agree with Starmer's choice, but there was no easy answer.

mrslaughan · 30/12/2020 15:18

There is talk down thread about vaccinations abs schools. Can I just say I am really worried the UK is going to fuck up the next phase of the pandemic, like they have everything else.
There is real concern by scientists that having a smallish part of the population vaccinated , while opening up the economy, creates the perfect conditions for a further Mutation to take hold that is resistant to the vaccine. There has been quiet slog of discussion this by scientists ..... however Sunak - who we know doesn't follow. the science is promoting we open the economy at 15% vaccination- which is not enough.

I didn't watch the debate - too soul destroying.

Did have an interesting discussion with my Bro in NZ last night ..... obv he's not very Brexit focused - but did point out there is amused discussion in NZ about how the Brexit meets thing Canada , Australia abs NZ will save them..... given many in NZ remember very well how the UK completely fucked them over in the 70's- driving the country to the brink of economic ruin.....

ListeningQuietly · 30/12/2020 15:25

Mistigri
Johnson has an 80 seat majority.
Labour could do NOTHING to stop the deal going through
but by supporting it
they have removed their right to criticise and oppose the Government on all things Brexit.

UTTERLY, UTTERLY stupid thing to do

the Press and the Tory spin doctors will crucify Starmer for this for years

ListeningQuietly · 30/12/2020 15:32

Votes on the bill now in
votes.parliament.uk/Votes/Commons/Division/932

I am NOT happy with my MP
they are a coward

GhostofFrankGrimes · 30/12/2020 15:38

Now Labour cannot highlight the Brexit fallout in the years ahead with any credibility. They have just endorsed it. Labour are currently irrelevant. The Tories will dine out on their Brexit “victory”. The vaccine, eventual return to normality will create a feel good factor amongst the public.

I see 3 Labour front benchers have resigned so at least Starmer has finally unified the party, will be 20 points ahead in the polls in a couple of days Hmm

52andblue · 30/12/2020 15:45

@PussyCatInChristmasStockings

52 I saw that.😂 Unfortunately, if it looks like a 🤡 and behaves like a 🤡 it's not a 🦆 😉
Grin did you like my comment that my family (used to) own a Circus (true) does that mean it's okay for me to be clown-ist? genuine Qu, not goady Grin

I'm going to have to turn the news off and stick to reading this thread I think. HandCock wittering on about Southend. LIke this is the only area we need to worry about (appreciate its very very high there)

I defo can't stomach The Boy Gav [clown]

52andblue · 30/12/2020 15:45

oh, FFS, why can't I find a clown emoji on the MN list? Grrr...

SwedishEdith · 30/12/2020 15:49

No-one brings up that the Tories backed the Iraq war. I know the press are overwhelmingly Tory-biased but Brexit is overwhelmingly a Tory project. I don't think he could win on this. Abstaining all the time also has cut through on voters. A genuinely horrible dilemma for Labour MPs.

PussyCatInChristmasStockings · 30/12/2020 15:53

52 Gav, Gove, 🤡, Patel, Hancock...we are truly blessed with such a pool of talent... 🤔🤦🏻‍♀️
I did smile at the anti-clownist comments.

PussyCatInChristmasStockings · 30/12/2020 15:56

52 right click and look at the list of emojis, you'll find him there. 🤡

52andblue · 30/12/2020 15:57

but WHERE OH WHERE is the Clown Emoji??? @PussyCatInChristmasStockings

GhostofFrankGrimes · 30/12/2020 15:58

At least Corbyn voted against the deal. Not really the actions of a supposed Brexiteer....

DGRossetti · 30/12/2020 15:59

No-one brings up that the Tories backed the Iraq war.

They do. Just you don't get to hear about it through the BBC etc etc.

I absolutely don't need to check how my MP voted. If they were in prison, he'd be called Johnson's poodle...
