As expected he's fucking off and leaving everyone else to pick up the pieces in January. But it does look like he was eventually shown the door and left with a cardboard box. As he should have been months ago.

This has nothing whatsoever to do with Johnson needing an image change, like the shape shifting creep he is, to one that fits more with the incoming Biden Administration. In other words hes got some serious sucking up to do...

... Meanwhile in Brexit land we are going into yet another final week of talks.

Many expect Cummings departure to signal 'the cave in'. The Eu say we havent moved enough and the uk say the EU wants us to do all the moving... Except the EU have done lots of moving. Barnier is still looking for a groundsman to level his field to play. We have yet to work out we aren't Canada and distance is important to trade.

Of course if we don't get a deal, that Pfizer vaccine in Germany that we want, might be hit with delays and extra costs we just can't afford.

Oh, that's better @BoreOfWhabylon

Zixxy · 13/11/2020 22:44

Looking on from afar, I don't think I have EVER seen any disaster like the Brexit gaslighting.

Peregrina · 13/11/2020 23:17

A belated PMK.

DrBlackbird · 13/11/2020 23:27

I'm furious at these cowards who are getting to swan off, having wreaked the country. Where is the accountability?

^^This is exactly how I'm feeling.

wherearemychickens · 13/11/2020 23:31

^^Me too.

wherearemychickens · 13/11/2020 23:32

And Johnson will do exactly the same next year having broken the country.

Peregrina · 13/11/2020 23:41

Like Cameron he will probably be bored sh*tless but will still be making tons and tons of money, while we plebs are managing with meagre crumbs.

HesterThrale · 13/11/2020 23:50

Leavers gonna leave.

baroqueandblue · 14/11/2020 00:08

Tentatively excitable PMK. Thanks as always RTB, and commiserations to Sostenueto Flowers

mathanxiety · 14/11/2020 06:46

So it turns out it's actually Number 10 that's the nest of vipers.

Mistigri · 14/11/2020 07:29

Sos, sending best wishes Thanks. Why do you have to wait so long to be operated? That sounds horrendous!

So busy here that I barely have time to keep up with the news, but I am very concerned about my mum (lives alone, quite isolated) and what happens in January if there's panic buying in the supermarkets.

WorriedMutha · 14/11/2020 07:49

If Cummings isn't going to go quietly, the place to watch will be his blog. I think he may start agitating rather than see a sell out of his beloved Brexit. Popcorn time.

TheElementsOfMedical · 14/11/2020 08:40

Wishing you a speedy recovery @Sostenueto Flowers

It's all theatre and deliberate photo-ops. Scummings could have quietly left by the back door.

ICouldHaveCheckedFirst · 14/11/2020 08:48

Quite, Elements.
He didn't have the look of a man who'd just been sacked unexpectedly.
Plus, he was still wearing his lanyard.
We ain't seen the last of him.

Schonerlebnis · 14/11/2020 09:14

@ElementsOfMedical absolutely agree. I was under the impression he said his work would be done by december and he'd take a backseat after that.

AuldAlliance · 14/11/2020 09:34

Dom will bob up again. The ones like that always do.

In other news, Felixstowe is a bit logjammed:
www.theguardian.com/business/2020/nov/14/shops-warn-of-christmas-stock-shortages-as-ppe-shipments-clog-key-uk-port

Tanith · 14/11/2020 09:42

The timing is interesting. Almost immediately after the US election replaces Trump, those two are out. It's further indication that Trump and Brexit were linked.

While Cummings said he'd go by Christmas, Cain did not. In fact, he was hoping for more influence and power and it was denied.

Did someone make it clear that, for any chance of even a conversation with Biden and his team, Johnson had to get rid of them?

TartrazineCustard · 14/11/2020 10:13

It's very public, isn't it? Dom "was the story," just a few short months ago for breaking lockdown solidarity with the entire country and was strongly defended, but today he's suddenly out in his ear for being mean to the PM's girlfriend? It does seem like there's more here than meets the eye.

pontypridd · 14/11/2020 10:14

I think this is the case Tanith.

I’m really surprised it’s not being commented more on by the press- the link between Trump going and Brexit/Cummings. It was mentioned on Newsnight yesterday but only very briefly and they didn’t expand on that.

squid4 · 14/11/2020 10:38

This is such bullshit.I'm not excited about Cummings going, it's Johnson who needs to go. It's the tories.
I don't understand how this is even news with everything else that's going on.
Hospital is in such an unbelievably bad way. Hundreds of staff off.2 x diverts in 2 weeks. Serious concerns aboutoxygen supply.
I'm struggling, I'm tired and panicky. Doesn't feel like any end in sight. Vaccine rumours encouraging but still early days.
Hancock announced there would be regular covid tests for NHS staff about a week ago now, but not heard anything. Never had a test.
Being asked to work extra shifts every single day. It's exhausting. So many people are off.

OchonAgusOchonO · 14/11/2020 10:47

On the good news front, Farage reckons Cummings going means they are going to cave on brexit and hopefully agree a deal

HoneysuckIejasmine · 14/11/2020 10:49

squid is there anything practical we can do to support our local hospitals? I really want to help but don't know how.

ICouldHaveCheckedFirst · 14/11/2020 11:17

Ochon Similar view floated in this article:

prettybird · 14/11/2020 11:20
