The government is telling pharmacists and drug manufactures to stockpile drugs ahead of the end of transition on 31st December.

In the middle of a pandemic.

What could go wrong?

Oh yes indeed!
Ds1 was up in the night feeling ill...he was OK but I was up til 2.30am
Then mum phoned and woke me at 8.30am to tell me she isn't going to the drs today 🙄🤬😁
So...I'm up. But I'm not happy about it 😬

yoikes · 05/08/2020 09:30

I don't want to go out today
I'm feeling all hermitty

ListeningQuietly · 05/08/2020 09:36

Re Beirut : it looks like those grain silos saved the shock wave travelling right into the other side of the city so probably saved lots of lives.

pussycatinboots · 05/08/2020 09:39

yoikes nothing wrong with that. Sometimes we all need to be a hermit. Unfortunately that won't get you a dishwasher.

yoikes · 05/08/2020 09:40

(Weeps)
(Slopes off to kitchen to do more dishes)
😬

ListeningQuietly · 05/08/2020 09:41

yoikes
Take the Sunak money - go out to eat for every meal today, pick £10.05 deals Grin

Givemeabreakpls · 05/08/2020 09:42

PMK, thanks all

dontcallmelen · 05/08/2020 09:53

PMK as ever thanks to Red & all contributors.

I'm not sure anywhere locally is doing it...

I will investigate!

Peregrina · 05/08/2020 10:05

Loads of places locally are doing the Sunak scheme. We plan to take advantage of it, going to places we would go to anyway.

yoikes · 05/08/2020 10:07

Found 1 place locally but it'll be booked out...

Quite interesting it includes places like Costa and Starbucks...tax payer funded too!

JeSuisPoulet · 05/08/2020 10:11

I also recommend ao dot com for appliances - they can take away old ones too Smile

Emma1962 · 05/08/2020 10:18

I used my stash as things calmed down. I had sort of forgotten about brexit whilst the pandemic has been going on. I must build up my stock again thanks for the reminder!

pussycatinboots · 05/08/2020 10:22

I agree with JeSuis, AO have brought me all my white goods - and in the past I've handed out a pack of biscuits with a brew and they've unpacked and installed for free Wink

Re the "Right to Pie" most of the chains are on there including McDonalds and KFC, but I've found the odd independent foodie pub.

JeSuisPoulet · 05/08/2020 10:22

Loads of places near us too. Skim reading it seems you just rock up and they take £10 off the bill? It's finding the ones with gardens/open air areas that will be the toughie.

DGRossetti · 05/08/2020 10:25

The problem with eating out is it's crap. And has been for years.

DW and I were trying to remember the last time we had a decent meal out (November 2016, thanks to Facebook). Any pub chain is ping'n'fling. And anywhere is isn't accessible.

Luckily we both love cooking, so it's no chore. But that's one reason why we won't be having a Rishi Dish. The other is we (well I) have worked hard to dump a few stone, and frankly modern portions are far too big.

JeSuisPoulet · 05/08/2020 10:26

Out of interest, what is to stop restaurants applying the discount to takeaways to attract custom? I know it isn't in the spirit of things, but...

VAT ?
JeSuisPoulet · 05/08/2020 10:37

Yeah and I guess someone would shop them eventually so not worth the risk.

We are lucky as a park in town has a really nice Southern American shed in the middle with takeaway food and a few pub benches which I presume is there "seating area". I think we might wander down there a bit later on.

yoikes · 05/08/2020 10:58

No great options near me tbh
AO are good but our current one is an ikea model so we are going like for like.
I hope I don't regret it! 😬

Pasghetti · 05/08/2020 11:02

Marking place. I need to up my preps again.

Peregrina · 05/08/2020 11:04

Is AO Appliances Online?

We have used them and they were good. However, when the washing machine packed up recently we went with a Bosch from Curry's. I don't know whether we were lucky or not because I have heard mixed reports, but we couldn't fault their delivery and installation service, including taking away the old machine.

Pasghetti · 05/08/2020 11:04

Annoyingly some of my original Brexit prep stock has gone out of date by up to 9 months. We really need to find a way to organise stuff better rather than shoving it into random corners.

SabrinaThwaite · 05/08/2020 11:18

We have 90 restaurants doing the Eat Out deal within a 5 mile radius, including some pretty posh ones (and some members only ones plus a couple of works canteens). Will make the most of it as eldest DC is here and he can eat two full adult dinners quite easily.
