This week has seen reports of the government editing footage of Johnson to avoid embarrassing questions about the early government response.

We've been asked to accept that the rules were different to what we were told to excuse the law breaking behaviour of a senior government advisor. As Johnson said he was being a responsible father (as if Johnson knows what this is) and it wasn't as if he was visiting a lover (this Johnson would know all about). Let's be honest Johnson is the master of brazening out controversy.

We also have the ERG complaining they were lied to by Gove about the new Withdrawal Agreement and the border in the Irish Sea which surprises precisely no one else.

They appear to be a little upset by the Cummings debarkable too.

Appropriate Music:

Well I would drive five hundred* miles
And I would drive five hundred* more
Just to be the man who brings the Covid-19
Right down at your door.

*....and twenty.

yoikes · 25/05/2020 14:11

I think the imperial March from star wars would be appropriate....

LouiseCollins28 · 25/05/2020 14:15

Indeed yoikes I beat you to it I think. 😂

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 25/05/2020 14:22

Is not providing a time just another way of fucking with us all? Just to show he’s still in control.

DGRossetti · 25/05/2020 14:27

Is not providing a time just another way of fucking with us all? Just to show he’s still in control.

We're subjects not citizens, and you would be well advised to bear that in mind ....

mrslaughan · 25/05/2020 14:31

I am so angry , pissed off, fucked off .
I didn't watch BJ statement last night as we have just bought a new telly and can't afford to replace that.....

And then this thing about "Goings" statement- I am outraged about that - who the fuck does he, and everyone around him think he is...... he is answerable to the police, a judge and his Boss. He is not a fucking elected official - or the King..... it is just wrong.

As for his son being autistic- big fucking deal - I know, personally two families really struggling with lockdown with there autistic kids - both who have had to fight tooth and nail (with v expensive lawyers) just to try and get them some sort of education. It's fucking outrageous........

mrslaughan · 25/05/2020 14:35

I should say expensive lawyers that they could barely afford.....
one now volunteers at a charity to help families with SEN children - and those who can't afford lawyers are fucked, completely fucked - and that the situation the tories have created. (I know not this government- but they have all been around like a bad smell haven't they)

To try and garner sympathy from people over having a SEN child - when there polices are so fucking obstructive......

JeSuisPoulet · 25/05/2020 14:36

I wonder if it will be a better version of what he said to the press yesterday "It's not about what YOU think that matters, is it?" Hmm

Telling that no one else will stand in to deflect any more though.
I guess they are worried enough about threats to his life not to set a time/place.

WrinklesShminkles · 25/05/2020 14:37

Anyone remember this story from about a week ago that the North East had a higher R value than most of the country?

www.theguardian.com/world/2020/may/15/regional-differences-in-covid-19-transmission-rate-emerge-in-england

I wondered why at the time Hmm

DGRossetti · 25/05/2020 14:40

Back in the day, Dom was all for "accountability", and "a culture of
openness and facing errors"

www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/donald-macintyres-sketch-the-mekon-dominic-cummings-thinks-dan-dare-tactics-would-knock-the-civil-9883122.html

'Contrasting the extraordinary effectiveness of the airline industry with
what he sees as the chronic record of failure in Whitehall, Dominic
Cummings has painted a striking picture of the sort of accountability
culture he would like to see imposed on civil servants.

"Because the pilot goes down with the plane... he’s very strongly
incentivised to develop a culture of openness and facing errors. If you
don’t face reality, then you die. In the Department for Education if you
don’t face reality, you get promoted just the same."

pussycatinboots · 25/05/2020 14:41

Wrinkles linking that to Dominant is beyond worrying.
Where else has the bastard been?

Calyx72 · 25/05/2020 14:54

Apparently Cummings statement at 4pm (originally 3pm but moved)

Smartcasual · 25/05/2020 14:56

So, Cummings sister is a director of Idox, the company given the contract for track and trace app. She lives in Durham.

This is very interesting indeed. What is your source please DGRossetti?

Glaxo Smithkleine, the company sharing the contract to develop a covid vaccine are based in Barnard Castle

I think GSK have 10 UK sites. Is it confirmed that the Barnard Castle site is associated with the development of the covid vaccine, does anyone know?

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 25/05/2020 14:57

In the Rose garden in Downing Street apparently.

pussycatinboots · 25/05/2020 14:57

He's not doing the briefing too, surely?

OhLookHeKickedTheBall · 25/05/2020 14:58

I've just come in for some cool air and to watch and now it's moved back to 4pm. dammit

HesterThrale · 25/05/2020 14:59

Isn’t the autism story an unsubstantiated twitter rumour?

Gotta love Gary Lineker:

Piggy
there's a note on the PHE website re: yesterdays figures:

"The daily count under the new deaths measure (deaths in all settings) is 53 lower than the old measure (deaths in hospital). This is because some hospital deaths in the hospital-only data will include individuals who have already been included in the composite all settings count. Individual deaths that have already been reported in the all settings figures on previous days are not counted again."

Deaths in Hospitals = 171
Deaths in All settings = 118

that might explain why both of us saw different figures being reported before the BoZo show.

DGRossetti · 25/05/2020 15:01

Starting to get a sneak preview of some press questions for Dom:

Laura Kuenssberg: Dominic, what is your favourite colour?

prettybird · 25/05/2020 15:04

I do think BJ has found out too late that the job he's always wanted is actually a teensy bit more time-consuming and requires just a little bit more attention than he is willing to give.

If you recall, his real original ambition was to be "King of the World" - which wouldn't have involved the amount of work required by a PM Wink

Smartcasual · 25/05/2020 15:05

Thank you for those sources DGRossetti.

How very murky...are these facts being discussed in uk press? Has anyone raised concerns?

MockersxxxxxxxSocialDistancing · 25/05/2020 15:14

Dom at 16.00 and BJ at 17.00?

Are they really this dim?

"Right, so you've had all your questions answered, so let's talk about trams and getting back to school...."

MockersxxxxxxxSocialDistancing · 25/05/2020 15:35

Atty General Cruella Braverman says Dom has broken no rules.

(Thus ending any prospect of a prosecution.)

NewAccountForCorona · 25/05/2020 15:46

How does she know he hasn't broken any rules? Is it because he says he hasn't?
