I reckon between 10-15 years, if I narrow that down I reckon 2033

5 years for the full economic impact to be felt, 5 years to get a rejoin majority government, year to do an referendum, 2 years to negotiate to join.

If there is a Referendum to rejoin in the future, wouldn't our rejoining be conditional on taking the Euro, and joining Schengen etc.
Doubt it.
Several other new members are not in the Euro or in Schengen.

@thegirl

Exactly. It is a condition for all members to join the Euro when they have converged to an acceptable point. That is why Scotland if it became independent wouldn't ever be allowed to join as it has the highest public sector deficit of any country in the EU at nearly 3 times the level of the highest EU member. That is unless it went through Austerity that would make it like Zimbabwe !

I dint think there is a cat in hells chance of us ever rejoining. Total career suicide for a politician

Poland ?
Czech Republic ?
Sweden?
Hungary?
Denmark?
Define "acceptable"

We won't join the EU in its current incarnation. But I can see us doing so as it evolves - perhaps with an inner and outer set of membership.

There is no mechanism to force countries to join the euro.

Denmark also has an opt out

I don't think we should start making claims about what the terms would be. Its significantly evident that the claimed terms of leaving, by the leave campaign, were utter bunkum.
