Brexit Arms - Out with the old and in with the new

It’s time again for another Brexit Arms thread to see us into Christmas and beyond.

Well what a week it’s been!!

Boris has now completed his first week and he’s been busy. New conservatives have been sworn in, the Queens Speech yesterday shows promise (aware that the proof of the (Xmas) pudding is in the eating) and Boris’ Deal is going to be voted on today with the results being around 3pm I believe.

Meanwhile, on the other side all four wheels have definitely fallen off the red bus and were very nearly joined by a garden gate and a car door. Oh dear!!

Anyway, I have added a few more Christmas decs to the pub and popped the fairy back on the tree (it took a nasty tumble)

We are now good to go.
Cheers all 🍷🍷

Ps. If anyone wants to volunteer for outside catering that would be👍🏻

“But when someone (seemingly) gleefully says "Are we ready for it?" what does that mean? Rearm? so we are?”

Don’t be fucking ridiculous, she wasn’t gleeful.

DustyDiamond · 03/01/2020 13:20

But when someone (seemingly) gleefully says "Are we ready for it?" what does that mean? Rearm? so we are?

Really struggling to find the implication of 'glee' in Scary's post 🤷🏻‍♀️

It always amazes me how you see the things that others cannot 🙄

I should really have learned to not be shocked by now....
....Le Sigh 😔

jasjas1973 · 03/01/2020 13:24

Many older ex military are only too happy to send others off to war.

I have a v. good understanding on the personal cost of war, thankyou.

TheGhostOfEpicPast · 03/01/2020 13:26

“Many older ex military are only too happy to send others off to war.”

Don’t be fucking ridiculous. No one here, ex military or otherwise want to “send others off to war.”

DustyDiamond · 03/01/2020 13:29

I'm not 'older ex military'

I'm only a couple of years out
I still work within the military

Probs might be a great idea for you to not swoop into a thread, spin the content of a post through the convoluted corkscrew of your mind & confect a complete leap of logic & fantasy to suit your own warped narrative

🤷🏻‍♀️

#JustSaying

Go post your entirely made up nonsense to a crowd that will appreciate it

It's not welcome here 🙄

jasjas1973 · 03/01/2020 13:42

Bully! lol! Random on 'net disagrees with you and you get all precious? my how far have our once proud armed forces fallen....

Apart from myself, no one has criticised Trump for what he has gone and done, so i'll draw my own conclusions on whether you good folk are happy for yet another ME war....instead you go all personal, how dare anyone criticise the UKs savior Trump...pathetic.

TheGhostOfEpicPast · 03/01/2020 13:44

Who mentioned bullying? Confused

Again, you treat us to made up bollocks 🙄

Is there no limit to your imagination?!!!

DustyDiamond · 03/01/2020 13:50

instead you go all personal, how dare anyone criticise the UKs savior Trump...pathetic.

And more made up stuff!!!!

My dear, you are spoiling us today with your flights of fancy 😂😂😂

I’m popping a song on the Jukebox...

DustyDiamond · 03/01/2020 13:53

Perhaps you could start a thread of your own?

"A thread in which I will decide for myself what other posters have written, even though my interpretation bears zero resemblance to their actual words"

Sure it'll go down a storm 🙌

TheGhostOfEpicPast · 03/01/2020 13:54

“Sure it'll go down a storm 🙌”

😱 did you MEAN like a ‘desert storm’?

You dirty war monger.

DustyDiamond · 03/01/2020 13:59

😱😱😱

DustyDiamond · 03/01/2020 14:00

Actual lol at that song about the inner workings of Jas's whirlpoolesque mind 😂😂

TheGhostOfEpicPast · 03/01/2020 14:09

😙 “like a carnival ballooon” 🎶

🤡 🎈 🎪

Coppersulphate · 03/01/2020 14:32

Jas
stop deliberately putting words into posters' mouths, or at least, if you must, make it resemble in some way what was said.
You are just ramping things up to cause trouble.
Off you go back to your usual thread.
It is peaceful in here and we intend to keep it that way.

SingingLily · 03/01/2020 15:24

Well I've just sprinkled lemon juice over Scary's post and nope, still couldn't find the invisible words expressing invisible glee.

It's so hard sometimes trying to live down to other people's expectations. We must be such a disappointment.

AutumnRose1 · 03/01/2020 15:29

I can't link to it right now but Dominic Raab's Tweet made it pretty clear that he's not keen on a war.

yolofish · 03/01/2020 19:23

Do I think the Orange One did the right thing? No I bloody dont, I think he has possibly unleashed a shit storm of mega proportions which will affect the whole world.

Should the General have been assasinated? possibly, but why broadcast that you (the USA) did it?

My fervent hope is that BoJo is too pissed on his lilo to take the call from SCROTUS and therefore someone somewhere buys some time so the grown ups can sort the situation out.

yolofish · 03/01/2020 19:24

Dominic Raab's Tweet made it pretty clear that he's not keen on a war.

well, no one in their right minds would be, but when the USA barks the UK usually jumps to it - cannot see why it would be any different this time?

SingingLily · 03/01/2020 19:31

From the Evening Standard:

"Dominic Raab has urged “all parties to de-escalate” after a US airstrike killed Iran’s top general Qasem Soleimani.
The Foreign Secretary said "further conflict is in none of our interests" after Iranian leaders pledged “severe retaliation” to the airstrike ordered by President Donald Trump."

Sounds to me that he is trying to calm the situation.

AutumnRose1 · 03/01/2020 19:34

yolo I wasn’t planning to put money on it, just saying that was Raab’s view at the mo.

AutumnRose1 · 03/01/2020 19:35

yolo actually this might seem a bit odd but as I don’t want to sour relations with you, and I’m only here as it’s sort of a safe space, hopefully you won’t be offended if I don’t interact with you on this particular thread.

XingMing · 03/01/2020 19:40

No, Trump should not have approved the strike. It's not as if QS is a wanted terrorist with a price on his head; he's a senior general in a sovereign nation's armed forces. He may be an ultra-enemy of the USA, and fomenting guerilla action, but there is no real room in geopolitics for preemptive strikes. Raab's response is measured, and will hopefully calm things. It's frightening, not least because I have close family working in the ME.

Songsofexperience · 03/01/2020 19:53

I'm pretty worried to be honest.
Can't help but think about the assassination of Massoud in Afghanistan. 2 days later, 9/11 happened.
