Brexit

What are you most looking forward to POST-Brexit?

Pumperthepumper · 15/12/2019 17:42

I was a remain voter, and voted tactically against the Tories. I lost.

But onwards and upwards! We’re getting Brexit in January, like it or not, so I was just wondering what everyone was looking forward to the most?

I asked on a different pro-Brexit thread but nobody gave me an answer.

For me it’s the 350 million to the NHS with no trade deals with Trump. Or the continuing Peace in NI with no messing around with the GFA. Or the trade deals we’ve been promised without any reduction in standards.

I’m so ready to be convinced of how brilliant Brexit will be! Let me hear your positives, please Flowers

A new hospital is a hospital that wasn't there before. We won't get any.

CrissmussMockers · 22/12/2019 20:35

No.

There aren't going to be any new hospitals, in the sense of a hospital where there wasn't one before.

None at all.

CherryPavlova · 22/12/2019 20:53

The HIP money is to fund bids created over the next five years to allow trusts to submit feasibility studies. Not exactly new hospitals.

RufusthebewiIderedreindeer · 22/12/2019 21:05

I don’t understand why they are allowed to lie like that

There should be a watchdog looking at ALL political parties (i know there was the fact check one...but it doesnt seem to have been widely published)

Of course there won’t be 40 new hospitals...where the fuck would they put them for a start

Alsohuman · 22/12/2019 21:24

In all the places they’ve closed them?

ListeningQuietly · 22/12/2019 21:25

1st February 2020 will disappoint everybody

1st January 2021 will upset everybody

JingleCatJingle · 22/12/2019 21:26

My new life outside of the UK.

RufusthebewiIderedreindeer · 22/12/2019 21:55

In all the places they’ve closed them

I meant literally...they closed a hospital near my brother a fair few years ago now...and built houses

The space doesn’t exist anymore...there is no space in the town

We had a massive one rebuilt, to be fair its lovely...and always looks empty! Its not, just massive corridors In a maze Grin

RufusthebewiIderedreindeer · 22/12/2019 22:01

Jesus it was completed in 2005 and officially opened by Princess Anne is 2009

Where the fuck has my life gone

jasjas1973 · 22/12/2019 22:03

There isn't the staff, either in this country or abroad, med staff can go where they want.

My DD has been offered a job in Australia before she has even qualified!!! most of the students on her course are going overseas or the private sector.

How Johnson was allowed to get away with this lie without scrutiny is a stain on our so called democracy.

Break up of the EU. Current set up encourages laziness m.

slipperywhensparticus · 23/12/2019 16:21

Silence about Brexit? Never going to happen is it.....

MysteryTripAgain · 23/12/2019 17:27

When Brexit happens there should be some reduction in discussion. Reason discussion has not ended is that remain supporters still can’t work out that even after a referendum in 2016, general elections in 2017 and 2019 the will of the UK is to leave the EU

Parker231 · 23/12/2019 17:39

I have no problem understanding the results of the referendum and election but have a greater understanding of the impact of the leaving the EU particularly now Boris is threatening a no deal exit. The discussions are likely to increase rather than reduce.

Peregrina · 23/12/2019 17:50

I just hope that those who voted Tory this time and then find that Brexit costs them their jobs, remind themselves that this is what they voted for.

Devereux1 · 23/12/2019 17:59

CherryPavlova
I guess I’m assuming the majority of the electorate believed the lies otherwise why would they have voted to leave?

Yes, this seems to be a very common and fundamental error. I suppose such guessing on the part of some such as yu is what has caused so many problems in any reasonable discussion.

Mystery why would there be any reduction in discussion when people like you are openly making xenophobic statements? Why should anyone sit back and think that’s acceptable?

No deal off the table guarantees the worst deal possible. Tell anyone you can’t leave the room without a deal and you will get shafted every time.

MIdgebabe · 23/12/2019 18:21

Strictly speaking the majority of the electorate didn't vote to leave. The majority of those who voted did.

The inference that those who didn't turn up would vote the same way as those who did is regarded as invalid. Which is why our referendum was very unusual. It is commonplace to set the bar for change at something between 60 and 75%.

Parker231 · 23/12/2019 18:26

@Pumperthepumper _ this is the comments I found about the £350m bus lies

“Nearly half of the British public still believe the false claim from the Brexit referendum that the UK sends £350m a week to the EU, despite persistent attempts to debunk the myth.

A new study by King’s College London of attitudes to Brexit found that 42 per cent of people who had heard of the claim still believe it is true, while just 36 per cent thought it was false and 22 per cent were unsure.”

Devereux1 · 23/12/2019 18:27

Did you find those stats you were looking for Devereux1?

Yes I did thanks. It's the Government's White Paper, an annual European Finance statement. Why, did you believe it was less than £350m?

Alsohuman - I believe it was you who originally asked me for this evidence. Here it is.

MIdgebabe · 23/12/2019 18:30

Net or gross?

Devereux1 · 23/12/2019 18:32

CherryPavolva was quoting the gross figure in her 350 post which I was replying to, so that's what I was referring to too.
