Brexit Arms: Election Night Lock-In

Welcome to the Brexit Arms - it's going to be a stormy old night! We're about to be buffeted from right to left and back again with no real idea what the landscape will finally look like in the morning. All are welcome to weather the storm in the warmth and safety of the Arms - but please remember this a hospitable establishment so let's try and keep it that way.

We're kicking off the evening with our Back to the 70's theme night while we wait for the big main event to unfold. The juke box is loaded with all your 70's favourites. Feel free to dance round your handbags but please, no dancing on the tables…. this could be seen as having too much fun.

As always, we've got a nice big pot of PG Tips on the brew and Camp coffee by the mugfuls in addition to our usual alcoholic beverages.

On a serious note, we know that tonight's events are going to cause some upsets. With this in mind, the mint imperial bowls on the bar have been filled with Diocalms and we urge all our customers to make use of these. There should be enough to go round as long as nobody starts trying to stockpile. We simply cannot risk the need for plumbers to unblock our loos on Friday morning, as they could have been called out on strike by then.

Landladies on duty tonight will be:

20:00-22:00 Greenish (with Babychams, Cherry B's and vol au vents)
2200-midnight Twattage (with Classic Dmitris and cheeseboard)
Midnight-0200 Singing (with stiff brandies to calm the nerves, plus a selection of fresh nuts)
0200-0400 Hate (possibly with Albanian delicacies and a hangover cure)

We'd like to get the glitter ball turning with this absolute classic:

….fingers crossed similar scenes will abound in the Arms by the end of tonight. Enjoy!

P.s. When ordering drinks between 8pm and 10pm please supply your own drinks emojis. Thankyou!

I have to admit I am stunned. I thought it would be McDonnell et al. What a landslide! What a relief!

RaiseaGlasstoFreedom · 13/12/2019 06:50

I've just woken up to chukka whimpering out some words about loosing and his message I think he lost his seat?.. I'm hoping Anna Sourberry is also booted out..... And jess Phillips...

dirtyrottenscoundrel · 13/12/2019 06:56

Well at least the remainers will STFU now.

They wanted a 2nd referendum / people’s vote because ‘we didn’t know what we were voting for’

Well they just had it - and they got hammered! Grin ( again )

Tippexy · 13/12/2019 06:56

Apparently Jo Swinson still identifies as an MP

RaiseaGlasstoFreedom · 13/12/2019 06:56

On a previous thread someone said something like, those nasty, divisive bastards telling us... Boris couldn't get brexit through, he's a liar... Brexit isn't wanted anymore everyone has changed their minds and someone said we would actually.... All be roaring back

'' NO! It's YOU lot.... ''

I'm so glad, its an embarrassingly huge loss.....

They can all bugger off now, patronising bastards, we've had 3 1/2 years of hijack.

Agree singing the tories need to blast it through now.

Has anyone seen Tony Blair interviewed??? Grin I haven't but I'd almost like to see his horrid mug again just to see !!

dirtyrottenscoundrel · 13/12/2019 06:58

And Jo Swinson lost her seat.
It’s brilliant! Wine

RaiseaGlasstoFreedom · 13/12/2019 06:58

Yy dirty!!
Grin

I don't want to gloat but it feels Good what a relief!!

dirtyrottenscoundrel · 13/12/2019 06:59

apparently Jo Swinson still identifies as an MP

😂😂😂😂

RaiseaGlasstoFreedom · 13/12/2019 07:00

Did she!! Lovely!

So glad Piers Morgan has slammed Steve Coogan.. He's just said, Coogan telling Northern brexiters they are too stupid, like his Alan partridge character etc.. Probably got a few more votes for Boris.

RaiseaGlasstoFreedom · 13/12/2019 07:00

😂😂😂

RaiseaGlasstoFreedom · 13/12/2019 07:04

I've just scrolled back and see sour has gone.. Thank the heavens YES!!!!!!

Andrew marr hates him 😂.... He's got lots of interviews to look forward too!
What a night and morning!!

Songsofexperience · 13/12/2019 07:06

No, that REALLY isn't what democracy is about.
Clearly, brexit is on the way.
But I will never stop arguing in favour of values I hold dear and that Remain represented for me.

Songsofexperience · 13/12/2019 07:07

We want freedom of expression. That includes respecting one's opposition.

Songsofexperience · 13/12/2019 07:10

Well they just had it - and they got hammered! grin ( again )

It wasn't as much a yes to brexit as a no to Corbyn.
At least he's gone now.

Saucery · 13/12/2019 07:11

I don’t expect Remain voters to shut up. If you lose an ideal then you’re going to be sad and angry and do everything you can to try and convince others why you think you’re right.

Where this election has been fought and won is on the streets of places like Workington, Blackpool, Burnley. You can’t ignore large sections of voters because they’re People first, before Voters and they also have their ideals and hopes. So Remainers are free to complain, but it might be an idea to stop getting so personal about the people on the other side of the argument.

BovaryX · 13/12/2019 07:12

Good grief. I have been on another thread and it’s just full of people calling voters racist. Labour has been decimated and instead of examining why, it’s just doubling down on the ‘voters really are racist and stupid’ Incapable of any self criticism!

Songsofexperience · 13/12/2019 07:12

.. all the whinging , dripping , bed wetting remainers can now just fuck right off.

That's insulting.

DustyDiamond · 13/12/2019 07:13

I'm still awake!!

Going cross eyed now 😂😂

Watching Gove

wonkylegs · 13/12/2019 07:16

I suspect there are going to be lots of people who going to have a realisation on 1st of Feb when Brexit is still rumbling on and dominating the news cycle and political landscape, that 'getting brexit done' is possibly more complicated than a few sound bites and there is no magic answer that keeps everyone happy.

Songsofexperience · 13/12/2019 07:19

My concern lies more with what the massive US trade deal might entail.
As clearly the country made a choice to turn its back on Europe.

BovaryX · 13/12/2019 07:22

Well said. Labour have been decimated. If their response is to call Brexit voters stupid racists? They deserve to languish in the political wilderness for decades

RaiseaGlasstoFreedom · 13/12/2019 07:22

There's a huge difference between fighting for what you believe in, and then getting in people's faces and telling them, over and over that they have changed their mind and didn't know what they were voting for....

RaiseaGlasstoFreedom · 13/12/2019 07:24

Songs I disagree.
I don't know any leaver who turns back on eu.
I'm very happy with trade deals and anything else but I don't want any political ties to the eu at all.

I want total automny and the right to control our borders and everything else.

RaiseaGlasstoFreedom · 13/12/2019 07:26

They are a total irrelevance now and thank goodness.

Bearbehind · 13/12/2019 07:27

Well it’s not the result I wanted at the beginning of all of this but it is result that is now needed.

Boris has no more excuses and needs to get on with it now.

I do hope there’s some very tough questions asked of Labour and their supporters - they through this away by focusing on moaning about the Tories and not offering a positive alternative choice

And fucking Corbyn, apparently he’s said he won’t lead the party into the next election! The man has skin thicker than elephants hide. If he had any integrity at all he’d resign this morning
