Westminsterenders: Talent or Colour

FishesaPlenty · 06/12/2019 16:49

RTB and BCF are presumably busy with more important things. I'm clearly not qualified to start a Westminsterenders thread - but somebody has to take control and collect the waifs and strays.

The party of no talent want to introduce no colour into our lives.

6 days to the election.

Johnson is still a liar.

Corbyn is still apparently loved by Labour members and hated by everyone else.

Swinson is still a charming PTA chair.

I counted 13 “Get Brexit Done” from Johnson. It’s almost as if his handlers are giving him a bonus every time he can shoehorn it in somewhere.

He gets to shag a different research assistant for each mention.

MaudBaileysGreenTurban · 06/12/2019 21:36

Surely you vote for policies, gottagetbetter? It's not a Presidential race.

yolofish · 06/12/2019 21:38

ah jesus, that 'debate'. I am not a Corbyn fan but I found him articulate and sensible.

The BlondJob? why cant he actually speak properly? why is he such an absolute KNOB? answers on a postcard please to Disgusted of Kent.

Just utterly revolted by that stupid BJ.

DGRossetti · 06/12/2019 21:38

It would never happen, but imagine Tuesday, Jeremy Corbyn was suddenly taken ill (not to ill, just on Thursdays Grin) and Keir Starmer had to take over as interim leader ?

yolofish · 06/12/2019 21:40

And as for 'politicians who lie should have to crawl on their hands and knees through the HoC' I mean, honestly FFS? it's clearly not serious to him, or to the millions who are deluded enough to vote Tory.

Tanith · 06/12/2019 21:40

I am really shocked at the bias shown in that photo. It is blatant.

The dominance of the Conservative background;
The Conservative logo shown 3 times (Labour's doesn't appear at all - in fact, there's scarcely room for the Labour background);
Johnson shown full face, looking as though he's lecturing the other two;
Corbyn and Robinson shown with their backs to camera;
Corbyn has a thick black division separating him from Robinson and Johnson, Johnson is looking in the opposite direction...

How can they possibly deny bias with a photo like that??

gottagetbetter7 · 06/12/2019 21:40

Well that is where the conflict lies of course Maud, I promise you I am in a very sad place with this at the moment, but I do believe the Labour party will get a decent moderate leader again soon.

tobee · 06/12/2019 21:43

So Sky News says the YouGov poll after that debate had Johnson 52% and Corbyn 48%. Closer than I'd have predicted.

boatyardblues · 06/12/2019 21:43

We’re watching on chase play, about 25 min behind the broadcast. Boris is just piffling on and bullshitting. There’s no substance to his replies. Corbyn is doing a lot better.

MockersFactCheckMN · 06/12/2019 21:43

I do believe the Labour party will get a decent moderate leader again soon.

I think it has already been decided that the droning foghorn Long-Bailey is the heir apparent.

boatyardblues · 06/12/2019 21:46

So Sky News says the YouGov poll after that debate had Johnson 52% and Corbyn 48%.

Somewhat poetic too, given the other 52:48 split that got us into this split.

boatyardblues · 06/12/2019 21:46

Split = mess

MaudBaileysGreenTurban · 06/12/2019 21:47

Sorry, gotta I just don't understand.

You agree with the policies, and you support the local MP. Your Green vote will be utterly pointless - it won't be a 'protest', no one will know about it. All you will do is reduce the Labour majority in your constituency. Because you can't see past one individual who will probably not be leader within 12 months.

BMW6 · 06/12/2019 21:49

Sad to say gottage but I don't think Corbyn will step down even if Tories win by a landslide.
I don't think Labour will win an election until Militant Momentum are ousted from the Party.

thecatfromjapan · 06/12/2019 21:50

gottagetbetter

Given that the main area of threat is supposedly 'safe' Labour seats, I wouldn't do that if I were you.

ContinuityError · 06/12/2019 21:52

So Sky News says the YouGov poll after that debate had Johnson 52% and Corbyn 48%. Closer than I'd have predicted

If that’s the one that is done via the YouDirect app then I’d take it with a pinch of salt - the app always claims it’s not a representative sample, plus you get paid for answering. The fact that they had to ask “who is standing on the left of the screen” might suggest that respondents might be thick not give much thought to the answers.

thecatfromjapan · 06/12/2019 21:52

Corbyn will be stepping down. I think he'll step down if there's a hung Parliament. There's already a leadership race brewing.

gottagetbetter7 · 06/12/2019 21:52

Well if you can give me 100% guarantee of that Maud, I could be swayed. Sadly my MP stood on my doorstep in 2017 and said if I voted for him, he and many of his peers would boot out JC. He lied, tried, failed, whatever. JC is still there and I will not be voting Labour whilst he still is leader.

Dont see why he should or would in that circumstance

I will not be voting Labour whilst he still is leader.

Why?

What is your issue with Corbyn that, as a Labour supporter, means that you would prefer to subject the country to another 5 years of the Tories and a hard Brexit?

Outsomnia · 06/12/2019 21:55

Keir Starmer. Oh yes.....

But it ain't going to happen now is it? What a waste of an election for Labour, unless they are happy to see the Tories being filleted in their lies about getting Brexit done or something.

Only a few days to go now...

ChristmassySpice · 06/12/2019 21:56

As I keep telling people, unless Corbyn is your local MP, you aren't actually voting for him.

mrslaughan · 06/12/2019 21:56

I think @JustAnotherPoster00 you at some stage will hopefully accept - that not everyone in the Labour Party or indeed whose politics are left of centre agree with you vision.
Accusing everyone who doesn't agree with you of being a Tory is a little tiresome.....
