It looks like a December General Election is on.

The EU have officially extended A50 until 31st January. We have to name an EU Commissioner though.

All that seems left to do is decide between the 9th and 12th December.

The difference between the two is about whether there is any possibility that the WAB can be passed before Parliament dissolves.

A pre-brexit GE is thought to favour the LDs at the expense of Labour and the Conservatives. What the Brexit Party decide to do and where they decide to stand will also be crucial.

For the sad day that's in it. My socks.

Mr. Bercow you will be missed Sad

Basilpots · 31/10/2019 11:55

I tend to agree that Boris is his own worst enemy. It depends how effective his campaign team are at keeping him away from danger while avoiding the impression that he is running scared.

Every political advisor must have sleepless nights about Trumps ‘stadium’ moment happening. Grin

This is what I’m worried about: www.prospectmagazine.co.uk/politics/could-boris-johnson-lose-his-seat-uxbridge-general-election-prime-minister

I’m in Uxbridge. How do I know if I should vote Labour or Lib Dem?

ArseDarkly · 31/10/2019 12:04

I will always feel a debt of gratitude to Bercow for keeping strong and using all the rules in the book to stop the country from trashing itself -cometh the hour, cometh the speaker!

It's a big loss but I just hope to god he has steered Parliament through the worst of Brexit. I don't care how much he pops up in the media now, he'll always be welcome on my tv, cheers! Wine

BlueGingerale · 31/10/2019 12:07

God I hope Lib Dem don’t stand in Uxbridge. That would be the best way to oust Boris

Basilpots · 31/10/2019 12:08

Blue wait until nearer the time. It should become clearer. If you are going off 2017 figures you would go Labour and their candidate is an ex Uxbridge student I believe.

Play the long game.Wink

@Derxa For Jeremy there are only 3 countries in the UK. England Wales and Scotland. According to his launch speech

Labour (and Conservatives and LD) don't campaign in NI. Hence only speaks to electorate of GB. UK is GB & NI. My understanding anyway.

FadingStar · 31/10/2019 12:11

There are some Conservatives in NI..they never do well.

I realised that after I posted the message Blush
On the other hand he would be the UK Prime Minister if he won.

@prettybird and @AthelstaneTheWhoooOOOooo - I'm also based in Scotland - Edinburgh - thankfully all the constituencies in Edinburgh have Remain representatives so want to do some voter registration at local colleges (Borders / Stirlingshire) - any tips or want to DM me?

Oakenbeach · 31/10/2019 13:10

Ummmmm - Churchill also lost an election he expected to win - the first actual election he had to fight

Mad he lost by a landslide too... Just goes to show how little Mummmy knows!

Ellie56 · 31/10/2019 13:11

Boris is a Star and people will follow him. Hmm

Don't you mean Boris is a lying twat?

DadDadDad · 31/10/2019 13:21

Wise men only followed the star up to the point they found the true Saviour. Grin

CendrillonSings · 31/10/2019 13:24

While almost everyone here is either cheering on or at least condoning a government of the far left, today's polls show the British public to be - how can I put it? - slightly less enthusiastic:

I know, I know, second time's always the charm for clapped-out socialist losers like Corbyn. Well, we shall see! Smile

dreichsky · 31/10/2019 13:24

Boris is a self serving liar and I say this as someone who has voted Tory in the past (added to explain I am not a naturally left leaning voter, I don't go further than the Lib Dems )

ArseDarkly · 31/10/2019 13:25

And his name was JC! Star

Ellie56 · 31/10/2019 13:25

Maybe the wise men will follow the "star" to Uxbridge only to find he has done a runner to a safe seat. Grin

Basilpots · 31/10/2019 13:26

And the don’t knows ???

No poll on here cuts it on here without those.

Plus the demographics please.

ArseDarkly · 31/10/2019 13:26

That was to DadDadDad..

PotterHead1985 · 31/10/2019 13:27

I've missed a lot both here and on telly this morning - poor Bercow is close to tears.

I had to go to the shops.

My tip - particularly for my Irish friends (since it's a much bigger deal here than in the U.K. I think) DONT GO OUT IF YOU DONT HAVE TO. It's raining and the shops are FULL of people stocking up for tonight. It's hell on earth.

As you were Grin

Alsohuman · 31/10/2019 13:28

James Melville
@JamesMelville
Apparently Boris Johnson is ditching Uxbridge and South Ruislip (majority of 5,034) and scarpering off to stand in Rutland & Melton (majority of 23,104).

#generalelection2019

Anyone know if this is true? It’s not a great look if it is. Poor bloody Rutland.

Hoooo · 31/10/2019 13:29

A liar AND a coward!

BigChocFrenzy · 31/10/2019 13:32

Weasel running away from Uxbridge ?

TreesSandSea · 31/10/2019 13:33

I expect this has been posted but been working today and no time to catch up. Thought you might like it ....
