DH's predictions

DH has thoroughly depressed me. This is his view of what will happen. Brexit will happen by hook or by crook (especially the latter) on October 31st. There will then be an immediate general election and the conservatives will win. (Neither of ours preferred option). Then it will be all bets are off. He says we're stuck now - housing market will bomb.

I compared Johnson and his crew to the Nazis. I still stand by it. I don’t compare the majority of the Tories to this, but his autocratic dictatorship approach and use of language is similar. His hard right cabinet have supporters of the death penalty in it, and are determined to do what they want despite having very little mandate to do it.

They aren’t there yet, but with Cummings at the steering wheel it could get to that point.

I lived all through the Thatcher years. She was hated, loathed and despised by many including myself, but she wasn’t in this league.

I don’t feel we live in a democracy anymore, and that ridiculous picture of Bojo in front of the coppers had disturbing undertones.

I studied how the Nazi propaganda machine worked in terms of media and language as part of my degree. There are similarities. History tends to repeat itself

Anyone who watched the recent 3 part series The Rise of the Nazis couldn't help but see the parallels.

As Mark Twain supposedly said, "History doesn't repeat itself, but it rhymes"

The Tory party has been hijacked by the extreme right. I agree with The Emoji and prettybird - we are not there yet, as far as Nazism goes, but we could be. I always wondered why an educated, cultured nation fell for it, but now I understand.
