Why do you need to stock pile things like screwdrivers, hammers, pliers??? Anyone who does any DIY is already going to have these things. Brexit isn’t going to make anyone’s house fall down

I would also suggest duct tape. You can mend lots of things with it. Not pretty but in an emergency...

@Tojigornot no one is stockpiling screwdrivers you muppet. The thread is about non-food essentials. Things people might not have and is a good idea to get.

@BlackeyedGruesome correct on many levels. My late dad (1920s born) insisted I had a toolkit from the moment I left home nearly 40 years ago. I'm still a bit rubbish but I was able to shock my handy neighbour when I said "do you need a Phillips?" when he asked to borrow a screwdriver. No, it wasn't a comedy sketch although it sounds like one

Many of the cheaper cans do not have a ring pull so, yes, you need a tin opener.

A garage full of bits and bobs collected over several decades.... Amazing what you can mend with things from dad's garage.

Mum's back door handle spindle was too short for the door, and it kept not turning locking people in or out. Mended with bits and bobs from dad's garage.

I think I will buy all Christmas presents pre Brexit day.

Assorted baby things - breastpads, lanolish, bottles and sippy cups, sterilising tabs etc.

Plus if you are going to the EU on your summer holidays don't forget to bring stuff back with you! (possibly more relevant for EU citizens - we always ask for medicine and cleaning products from home)

I don't see it as being depressing - think of it as a list of stuff you might need setting up home for the first time.

If Brexit goes swimmingly, absolutely nothing is lost - most stuff will keep, so you won't be buying deodorant or anti freeze for a while.
If it doesn't go swimmingly, you won't need to panic buy in the shops.
