So leaving on WTO terms looks like a very sound choice. Germany props up the entire EU superstate pretty much.

I for one am feeling much more optimistic by the day.

Have a view by all means. But don't except to avoid questions and, if your posts are foolish, repeated ridicule.

Justaboutdone · 26/07/2019 08:32

Not one single person here would say the EU is perfect.

I for one think it needs reformed. And I don’t necessarily want further integration than we have already got.

I am all for Leavers wanting to leave the EU but I lose all respect when they spout incorrect facts as there reason for leaving the EU.

And take note. This country as we know it is in its dying years. There is absolutely no way Scotland will remain in the UK if we leave with WTO.

It may be though that the damage has already been done.

We are entering yet another global slump/crash/whatever. Meh. It’s that time in the cycle. Germany will be absolutely fine, they’ll weather the storm as usual, as will the rest of the R27.

BrienneofTarthILoveYou · 26/07/2019 08:35

I agree with you on this Op

'The EU Commission has turned Europe into a federalist state, complete with parliament, flags, anthem, fiscal union, and now an army.

The UK public, and much of Europe I may add, feel deeply uncomfortable about this. There is no accountability or transparency in the EU Commission and yet they are running the entire area.

It is nothing to do with the conservatives, nor the 'lies' you allude to.

It is to do with independence, we don't want the UK to join the superstate led by Germany.'

urbanlife · 26/07/2019 08:35

mother Mrs May did not deserve to be treated with utter disrespect. Where is your loyalty? Your sense of doing right for your country? Unless you are not from the UK, there is no excuse not to get behind the country and support the efforts being made to find a deal.

We are leaving either way, so you are somewhat shooting yourself in the foot! If you want some kind of relationship in the future with the EU then I suggest you get behind the UK team. This is surely is basics for anyone with average intelligence.

OP posts:
SalrycLuxx · 26/07/2019 08:36

And May’s trips to Brussels were orchestrated by her for domestic consumption. She had nothing new to say and refused to change any of her stupid red lines. The EU had no reason to send anyone to sit in a room with her while she attempted to play games with the media and public opinion.

urbanlife · 26/07/2019 08:37

The whole issue is exactly this!

The EU won't reform.

You can continue trying for another hundred years and they still won't.

You have got to ask yourself why the Scottish would ever think their referendum will be honoured, and it will most likely to end up being totally ignored or rerun for a better answer, given this seems to be the new 'democracy' that we live in.

Scotland have zero chance of leaving now that referendums are ignored is my best guess.

As I am a democrat, I support Scotland doing whatever it wishes to do including leaving the UK. However, as we now appear to be a post democracy there seems very little chance that any vote will be respected going forward.

There's tonnes of accountability & transparency with the Commission. We just had a week of intense coverage (transparency) about how the appointments were made which involves input from dozens of elected officials (democracy) who had to find a consensus decision (multi-compromise, no one railroaded). What Commissioners do after that becomes public acts (transparency). They can be removed from their positions (accountability).

bellinisurge · 26/07/2019 08:41

I did get behind Mrs May and supported WA. But it was trashed by ERG disaster capitalists. If they had got behind her we would be out by now. If Mrs May had accepted the EU's suggestion of a border in the sea, we would be out by now because the WA wouldn't have tied us all to the single market, just NI. This fake love for the DUP (who didn't get NI on its side in the referendum) is as transparent as glass.

urbanlife · 26/07/2019 08:42

We are entering yet another global slump/crash/whatever. Meh. It’s that time in the cycle. Germany will be absolutely fine, they’ll weather the storm as usual, as will the rest of the R27

You are literally the only one who thinks this, even the Germans disagree with you.

OP posts:
bellinisurge · 26/07/2019 08:43

And so you think this is a great time to trash our economy (and stick it to the Germans - which you appear obsessed with doing)?

urbanlife · 26/07/2019 08:44

about how the appointments were made which involves input from dozens of elected officials (democracy)

How can you possibly call this democracy?
The appointment of such importance, decided by a few officials in your own words. It beggars belief!

Can you not see that you have not described a democratic process by any measure. You have described an authoritarian state along the lines of Russia.

tomtom1999xx · 26/07/2019 08:46

So true urbanlife
People talk about Scotland leaving the UK with such certainty ( assuming enough people vote to leave in the 1st place ) when every obstacle possible has been put in the way of us leaving the EU.

Hmm

bellinisurge · 26/07/2019 08:46

I lived and worked in the Soviet Union. You clearly have no idea of the difference. Aren't you embarrassed by trotting out such nonsense?
Obviously not.

urbanlife · 26/07/2019 08:47

There's tonnes of accountability & transparency with the Commission. We just had a week of intense coverage (transparency)

Did we witness the inner workings of the wheeling and dealing by the commission, no. Did we have any input whatsoever? No, it was decided between France and Germany. There is no legitimacy in any form.

It was a stitch up behind closed doors, and we all know it llj

OP posts:
bellinisurge · 26/07/2019 08:48

@tomtom1999xx we could have left the EU on March 29 if those ERG twats had supported their government. We could have had a better WA if TM has accepted a border in the sea.
This is on BeLeavers, not the EU.

urbanlife · 26/07/2019 08:48

tom

It really has not dawned on the scots yet what a huge problem they have. No democracy - no departure. Not even a chance of one it appears now.

urbanlife · 26/07/2019 08:50

Thanks brie part of me thinks the remainers MUST know all of this, but they choose not to share it in public.

Many of my remainer friends have quietly said they are now looking forward to leaving.
