If you haven't signed yet, but would like to press pause on Brexit please add your name to the this petition. The numbers are large enough for it to really make a difference when MP's vote on different ways forward on Monday.

Foreign, as in people who don't live here. You do understand what foreign means don't you?

sonlypuppyfat · 31/03/2019 14:36

Those who didn't bother to vote lost as well then didn't they

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 31/03/2019 15:59

You do understand that you can be British and live abroad?

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 31/03/2019 16:01

And

Oh man this is going to blow your mind

You can have a foreign sounding name...live in a foreign country AND...wait for it

Still be British

I know!! Incredible

Excellent list, but lets add Preet Kaur Gill to it - MP for Edgbaston and Britains first female Sikh MP.

MockerstheFeManist · 31/03/2019 16:14

Word is that one signature is from a Mrs Elizabeth Saxe-Coburg-Gotha of Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg and Glücksburg.

tenredthings · 31/03/2019 16:22

I signed it cos I'm British but I'm not living in the uk. Brexit has massive impacts for me and my kids yet us British in Europe were barred from voting in the referendum. We Didn't get to have a say Angry we are still waiting to be told what's going to happen to us !

Her DH is an immigrant! Shock

MrsTerryPratchett · 31/03/2019 18:57

Actually that's a good point. Did Phil get citizenship? Because he wouldn't be ordinarily resident, SAHPs aren't. And Greece is EU and we won't be...

sonlypuppyfat · 31/03/2019 19:36

So let me get this right, you choose not to live here, but you think you've got a right to say what happens here?

1tisILeClerc · 31/03/2019 19:39

{So let me get this right, you choose not to live here, but you think you've got a right to say what happens here?}

Only because it's the law, get over it.

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 31/03/2019 19:40

So let me get this right, you choose not to live here, but you think you've got a right to say what happens here?

Not really sure what the problem is

People live abroad for all sorts of reasons, doesn't mean they are not British citizens or that they don't intend returning at some point

Tanith · 31/03/2019 19:46

So let me get this right, you choose not to live here, but you think you've got a right to say what happens here?

You realise that includes members of the British Armed Forces?

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 31/03/2019 19:52

tanith

That's exactly what i was thinking of

And other jobs obviously but i live in a military area so my first thought was for them

MrsTerryPratchett · 31/03/2019 20:08

By that logic anyone who lives in the UK gets a vote, right? Foreign name or not...

mummmy2017 · 31/03/2019 20:11

Hang even on a second ... Friends have husband and all his 250 cows have an email address....linked to their feed...
He says he will get them all too vote for you...

1tisILeClerc · 31/03/2019 20:20

Since cows benefit from improved 'rights' as members of the EU of course they should vote.
Meanwhile it might be a good idea for these sneering 'leave' voters to think of ways to replace the jobs that will be lost when the UK leaves.
i haven't seen any plans to do that so far and you have 2 weeks to sort something out.

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 31/03/2019 20:24

Im just not sure that all the people who voted leave saying they will game the petition are showing themselves in a very good light

At all

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 31/03/2019 20:25

Plus i think its really stupid signing a petition you dont agree with

And thinking its funny

One assumes you all do this with other petitions

Hefzi · 31/03/2019 20:29

Apparently, there's 8000 people who have signed as Jacob Rees-Mog so far - and 700 as Idi Amin. (From Friday's Spectator)

I'm fascinated that 700 people all chose Amin, though somewhat baffled Grin

MrsTerryPratchett · 31/03/2019 20:39

If this is true, I'd argue that the bigger issue is privacy. How does the Spectator know the names and email addresses of signatories? Unless they are going on tenuous Reddit nonsense. Like the Daily Mail does with MN.

MrsTerryPratchett · 31/03/2019 20:39

And why aren't they gaming the Leave petition?
