A thread for those of us on the march today :)

Weather still looking good, (perhaps, possibly, even some sunshine?) temps around 12-14, a little gusty at times, cooling off in the evening, so bring an extra jumper if you haven't set off.

Travel safely and see you at the march!

Well done, everyone. True democracy in action.

NoWordForFluffy · 23/03/2019 15:05

I'm surprised it's less than October when twice the coaches went. Almost like it's being underestimated on purpose. 🤔🤔

wherearemychickens · 23/03/2019 15:10

If October was 700,000, an estimate of 670k is too low, having been on both marches - loads more people this time!

Tensixtysix · 23/03/2019 15:10

And in the meantime the leavers are doing it the proper way by marching South from Sunderland to arrive for the 29th...
Of course, that won't be reported.

SparklySneakers · 23/03/2019 15:11

@Tensixtysix it's been reported but not much to actually report as the numbers aren't newsworthy.

Tomtontom · 23/03/2019 15:12

@Tensixtysix It has been reported. But a small group doing a small walk (much of the distance is being done by bus) doesn't make for much of a story.

IceRebel · 23/03/2019 15:16

And in the meantime the leavers are doing it the proper way... Of course, that won't be reported.

Why is their way the proper way? A March is a march, or does it only count when leavers do it? Also it has been reported, widely so, but don't let facts get in the way of your story.

CardinalSin · 23/03/2019 15:17

Can't get any closer to Parliament Square! Time to head off...

HazardGhost · 23/03/2019 15:21

Can we not taint this beautiful day filled with beautiful marchers with a reminder of the Sunderland to London march? We all know about it because it's dragged on for so long with such small numbers, its depressing how little leavers care. We also all know about the go slow protest yesterday because that to was reported.

I'm sending all my love to central London filled with remainers and leavers alike marching for democracy.

Dumdedumdedum · 23/03/2019 15:26

Thank you for marching on our behalves. I've seen an estimate of over one million marchers, by the way.

DioneTheDiabolist · 23/03/2019 15:36

It certainly felt bigger than the last one, and that was fucking big! Entirely peaceful, obviously, without the gammon...

I can well believe it was over 1 million. To me it felt bigger than the anti Iraq war march. I’m a Londoner so it was minimal effort for me to go (in fact the route went past my office..) but big thanks to all of you who came from further afield. Safe journey home.

TwigTheWonderKid · 23/03/2019 16:06

We couldn't get anywhere near Parliament Square this time. Definitely much bigger than last 2 marches. Looking to seeing some aerial footage.

BercowsSilkTie · 23/03/2019 16:15

@TwigTheWonderKid search People’s march on YouTube and there's a few with aerial footage.

cherin · 23/03/2019 16:16

We got stuck along Pall Mall, almost 1/2h to get back to embankment ....amazing placards (sensible grannies love eu? With a granny walking with her 6-7 yo?)

euaremissed · 23/03/2019 16:20

We got there early to parliament square - people couldn't be nicer as I was just with my young child.

So glad I made it there - loved hearing Sadiq Khan and David Lammy.

Bythebeach · 23/03/2019 16:22

DH & eldest DS only just reached Trafalgar sq....they were at Park Lane before 12 but got stuck by Dorchester hotel for ages. I’m at home with DS2 & 3 but marching in spirit and we all made the placard they’re carrying. DH says numbers are amazing.
