A thread for sharing details of our stashes: what we have, what we need, good hiding places and all sorts of hints and tips to help prepare for shortages in the event of a no deal brexit.

I had a read, mostly it was fine, though theres a couple of screenshots including two people's usernames.

bellinisurge · 08/04/2019 13:42

I read it. So no wasting time with stories about avocado and quinoa - which is what they were doing hitherto. Actual sensible stuff.

mum2jakie · 08/04/2019 13:56

The comments are the usual shit. Not sure why people get so irate about the multipacks of beans I bought back in January??!! And all the comments about the war?? Dicks!!

mum2jakie · 08/04/2019 13:57

It did remind me I need some more olive oil and cheese though! Going top the car up too...

bellinisurge · 08/04/2019 13:58

@mum2jakie , it's a massive improvement on DM's previous stance that only people worried about avocados and quinoa were concerned. And that was apparently funny.

Whatthefoxgoingon · 08/04/2019 14:12

Is it my username?

Fuck off then daily mail!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 08/04/2019 15:07

You are ok Fox, not you.

NoWordForFluffy · 08/04/2019 15:46

I don't recognise either of the posters who they've quoted via screenshot.

And I'd rather trust my own stockpiling than the supermarkets which are likely to be mayhem if it goes tits up.

It's such lazy journalism, though the woman in the article has broken the first rule of stockpiling as she's outed herself as stockpiling!

Oh, and fuck off Daily Mail; I don't want you quoting me either.

SalrycLuxx · 08/04/2019 16:41

Thanks Bellini (a few days late). It is a common yet effective scientific method, I find Grin

BlackeyedGruesome · 08/04/2019 17:30

Just made me want to make another list to see how many different things I have got.

NoWordForFluffy · 08/04/2019 17:38

I certainly don't have 700 things! 😂

BlackeyedGruesome · 08/04/2019 20:10

I don't have 700 different things.

BercowsSilkTie · 08/04/2019 20:15

I've cycled 10 miles and walked 6 miles today so am breaking into the chocolate.

NoWordForFluffy · 08/04/2019 20:42

I don't have 700 things in total or 700 different things. I'm not sure I even have 700 different things in the whole kitchen!

That's good going, Bercow. I've been fell walking so am exhausted. We ate out though, so I'm not onto chocolate (I'm also not in my own house, which means there's no stash to raid!).

BlackeyedGruesome · 08/04/2019 22:52

I have loads of stuff, lots of different sorts of stuff, I know I do not have the same things as other people as I do not have any tinned potatoes or instant mash. some people have got things that are much more expensive than I can afford. (various tinned fruits and tinned meats which we do not eat anyway)

It would be really interesting to see a comprehensive list and how they have categorised different.

BlackeyedGruesome · 08/04/2019 22:53

I have no idea how many things I have got as I have not counted.

NoWordForFluffy · 08/04/2019 22:54

I'm going off the top of my head. I may be underestimating though. 😂

NoWordForFluffy · 08/04/2019 22:56

Oh, no tinned fruit, veg (peas etc) or potatoes here. No instant mash either.

I do have some ham, but that's all the meat and tuna is the only fish.

BlackeyedGruesome · 09/04/2019 07:43

I am pushing four hundred different things if you count each sort of cracker say.

bellinisurge · 09/04/2019 07:50

Hopefully people focus on what they like and what they can afford.

theweeenglishfella · 09/04/2019 09:21

Everyone thinks I'm completely bonkers for stockpiling, but it helps with the brexit anxiety.

BlackeyedGruesome · 09/04/2019 10:42

Yep, we do not have lots of the frozen meats and fish( mainly veggie/vegan meals) or tinned meats or commercially frozen fruit that others have bought.

Nor have I dehydrated various things. (CBA/ can't store/ fussy children) though I am tempted by dehydrated mushrooms.

I do not use many beauty products so that has reduced my list length.

Conversely I have loads of dried/tinned beans and pulses as we eat a lot of those already.

If you are bonkers, so are the rest of us. If we are wrong we can quietly eat our stash over the next few months. If we are right, we can also eat the stash quietly and try not to say I told you so to those who ridiculed us. Those that laughed can be told to fuck off with their requests to share.

NoWordForFluffy · 09/04/2019 16:41

I've been into a small Asda today and no bargain beans. I will go when I get home from holiday and see if I can get them there.

Though maybe by the time I get home I'll be able to eat the stash as we have a nice long extension!

BlackeyedGruesome · 10/04/2019 00:00

Hope you have a good holiday.

NoWordForFluffy · 10/04/2019 07:42

Thank you. We've been cat-sitting in the Lakes but it's our last day today.

And then I'm back to working from home on Monday after 5 weeks off for my shoulder op. That'll be a shock to the system!
