Brexit

Does anyone still think that Brexit won't result in problems with medication?

King's fund analysis today suggests wa could affect the affordability and supply of drugs. A no deal Brexit could potentially cause significant disruption to medical supplies. I suspect there's a good chance people will die from this. I'm sure they'll comfort themselves with the thought that by 2069 we'll be reaping the benefits.

Sitting back and awaiting the "hysterical" accusations. I hope I'm wrong and the Kings fund are too. They are known for being balanced and quite moderate.

Who's going to reply?

All the Remainers know this.

All the leavers refuse to believe it is true. Even when there are bodies it will be the fault of everyone else in the world but not them. Their vote will not be the cause of this mess.

StealthPolarBear · 22/02/2019 12:04

True . I suppose I am just sick of all the comments about hysteria and the fucking Y2k. I am incredibly angry it's come to this

My drug (propranolol - beta blocker) is on the shortage list - I don't take it for a life threatening reason (migraines) but have been on it daily for 10 years and need a controlled withdrawal (def not cold turkey) if I was to come off them - otherwise cardiac problems including heart attacks/cardiac arrest can occur.

So to say I'm shitting myself is an understatement.

Not surprised by this at all- do you have a link? I can’t seem to find it on BBC news, or google.

StealthPolarBear · 22/02/2019 12:15

I get a King's fund newsletter. Might be on their Web page, I will look in a sec

Is there a list ? I didn't know so would be interested in looking .

HazardGhost · 22/02/2019 12:22

There's a list? Link please?

Been wanting a list for months!

Hotpinkangel19 · 22/02/2019 12:29

Where's the list?

ZenNudist · 22/02/2019 12:31

Think they will have to delay Brexit

SneakyGremlins · 22/02/2019 12:32

I'm on immunosuppressants.

You can't just quit those.

Myusernameismud · 22/02/2019 12:38

Is this the list you're looking at?

www.drugs.com/drug-shortages/

StealthPolarBear · 22/02/2019 12:39

So what's going to happen

My Dad is part of an EU drugs trial for a terminal cancer drug, and also innumerable strong painkillers. His Drs basically hold their hands up and say they don’t know when he has asked how it could affect him.

The real impacts of this shit show won’t affect the people who caused it, they can just fly off to Switzerland or wherever and get whatever they need while the people who built this country are left to suffer.

It’s lower/working/middle class ethnic cleansing at its most vile.

StealthPolarBear · 22/02/2019 13:56

Oh bloody hell I'm so sorry. I could scream.

OP posts:
SneakyGremlins · 22/02/2019 14:09

My immunosuppressants are on that drugs.com list.

StealthPolarBear · 22/02/2019 14:10

I can't believe we're in this situation. I am desperately hoping I am hysterical gremlins and everything is smooth. Has your doctor said anything?

OP posts:
SneakyGremlins · 22/02/2019 14:11

I'm seeing him a week on Friday - I'm going to ask for a three month dose rather than the usual 8 weeks. Not sure what else I can do really.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 22/02/2019 14:54

It makes me so so angry when leavers repeatedly tell me that sure it's going to be tough for a bit but then it will all be great. Tough for many people means death or severe incapacitating illness, or uncontrolled symptoms.

My medication is already affected by something. Brexit? I had to do without them for two weeks while an alternative solution was sound. I'm next due early April. I'm concerned.

Ely I'm really really sorry, I hope that they can continue sourcing the medication for your Dad.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 22/02/2019 15:01

So my medication is on that drugs.com list. Reason for shortage: increased demand. aka stockpiling upstream I suspect.

fuck.

StealthPolarBear · 22/02/2019 15:08

I want to scream and hit someone. Rees mogg probably. And Boris. Fucking Boris and give.
