This morning Jeremy Hunt declared that, 'With vision on both sides we can find a way through that has the support of Parliament and also works for the EU'

Of course this is 18th February 2019 and the UK has yet to demostrate they understand the problem, much less have the vision to solve it. And we leave the EU next month.

It needs to be stressed at this point: DON'T FORGET TO FOCUS ON WHAT REALLY MATTERS

Everything else is a tactic to make you close your eyes and miss what is really going on. Everything. Brexit looks increasingly like a hypnotist making their subject do ever increasing acts of ridiculousness on stage. Except I do not know if the public or the politicians are that poor sod. It is the magician who uses tricks of slight of hand to make you look the wrong way, whilst they makes all the big moves out of your vision.

There are so many stories that are coming out to try and make you miss what the government are failing to do. Stay focused. We can't ignore all these stories, but understand whether they are really important to the end game too.

A labour split, a march on the 23rd March, talk of a PV, the Brady amendment, the Malthouse Compromise, Cooper-Boles halting no deal?

No we need more than that.

The time for fantasies are gone. Its time to face reality and be pragmatic. The only thing that matters is the approaching cliff. Which we will go over not on the 29th March but in the next couple of weeks. We might not realise the ground disappearing beneath our feet at first. Our momentum as we go forward will carry for a short while before gravity kicks in.

But we can not defy the laws of physics and suddenly be able to fly because we develop magic superhuman powers of vision.

And no one will come to save us either.

Our national humilation will be total, if we don't acknowledge what is coming and stop.

poster When someone has a series of actions like this, excusing or defending anti-semitism,
then he is not fit to be party leader.

Concentrate on his actions and see a common theme

Doesn't matter if you think he is just v v dim - he is unfit

Labour would be doing so much better under a normal left of centre leader
and we wouldn't be heading for a No Deal Brexit, maybe not for a Brexit at all, with a hung Parliament and such an incompetent govt

TatianaLarina · 18/02/2019 16:55

And?...

And it’s one of the most anti-Semitic depictions I’ve ever seen.

Incidentally, it alludes to the Jewish financial-globalist consipracy theory I referred to above.

JustAnotherPoster00 · 18/02/2019 16:55

anti neoliberalists see finance as a Jewish conspiracy - Rothschild, Soros, influencing ‘global’ events to their advantage - a form of economic anti-semitism.

Isnt it normally the kipper and trump types that go after the soros link?

JustAnotherPoster00 · 18/02/2019 16:56

Sorry westminstenders I've hogged the thread for too long I shall retreat back to lurking

They tried he also lost

Any "Grand Tour" fans in ?

The most recent serving saw "the Team" in China. I can't recommend it enough - not necessarily for the cars. Just watch and learn - the scenery and stats will leave your jaw on the floor. It will also give you a reason that a court of law would uphold for calling Gavin Williamson a vacuous moron.

They were in "the biggest city you've never heard of" (pop. 30,000,000) - it's about half the size of England

China made 24,000,000 cars last year - treble their nearest rival Japan.

In 1988 there were 0 miles of motorway. Now there are 84,000 and increasing at 3,000 miles a year. So fast they can't build the service stations fast enough.

Even Clarkson gets it, and simply says without any histrionics: "We're doomed".

I think Japan is angry with us (although they don't outwardly show it obvs) and they are making a point that they are lacking faith in a deal. They are possibly attempting to spur other businesses to leave, as I am sure many will do, by making it clear they see no future in UK.

Re the Corbyn/Labour/Ind Group - there has been a political vacuum since it has been abundantly clear Labour was not going to appose Brexit. Half of the country feel let down as "citizens of nowhere" and not just on Brexit but the very binary options (as just mentioned) which mean any kind of debate with substance is glossed over for clickbait titles and incomplete 'spin'. Career politicians with soundbite policies has got us into this mess.

RedToothBrush · 18/02/2019 17:02

This series of Grand Tour has been very enlightening. Clarkson and Co have been firmly pro remain, with hints of feminism (the proper type where they believe in biology) as well as the regular deliberately offensive moments.

DGRossetti · 18/02/2019 17:06

I'd be surprised if they are "angry" ... they are almost the poster child for "stoic".

I'd be thinking they are - like the Germans as a country - very pragmatic and practical and will simply be doing whatever is necessary to progress their particular agendas. Both countries have invested heavily in developing an Anglophone capability, so can take advantage of the UKs woeful monolinguism and do business elsewhere.

HazardGhost · 18/02/2019 17:07

Shock @ Clarkson and co.... ffs whats happening to us?! Clarkson used to be a right fucker... has he improved or has everyone else on tv/politics got THAT bad?

TatianaLarina · 18/02/2019 17:07

Isnt it normally the kipper and trump types that go after the soros link?
It’s both left and right. To some on the left, Soros is part of the cosmopolitan globalist neoliberal elite. An evil capitalist.

dreichuplands · 18/02/2019 17:07

We've noticed the remain comments in the grand tour as well. Initially DH was a little concerned about what the presenters views would be but a quick google put his mind at rest!

AutumnCrow · 18/02/2019 17:08

What have we become.

LonelyandTiredandLow · 18/02/2019 17:09

Yes DG, when I said they don't show it I was referring to the stoicism. However I would be surprised if they aren't annoyed that they have been led to believe a deal would happen, they've had pay outs and NDA for example and have trusted us. I see this as them saying "we've had enough". It will be hard for us to coax them back after all of this.

Icantreachthepretzels · 18/02/2019 17:11

Yes I always assumed Clarkson would be about as leave as they come ... then I came across a video on you tube he and James May had made before the ref telling people to vote remain because they liked Europe (and because Top Gear, as was, would be a complete pain to film if they couldn't just drive their cars, cameras and equipment across the channel) ... I felt rather guilty for assuming, after that.

DGRossetti · 18/02/2019 17:11

It will be hard for us to coax them back after all of this

Within a timeframe that would be of note to us, I'd say impossible.

LonelyandTiredandLow · 18/02/2019 17:14

I haven't watched Top Gear since it was, well Top Gear Blush I did know Clarkson was remain. I think because he comes across as chauvinistic and brash much of the time it is easy to assume he doesn't like facts Hmm
The only other thing I randomly know about him is that he has a spitfire (?) or some plane in his garden.

TatianaLarina · 18/02/2019 17:15

I worry that the rhetoric today is very similar.

I agree, the narrative has never died, and it’s very much on the rise.

TalkinPeece · 18/02/2019 17:24

Yup, the Grand Tour / Top Gear boys are VERY pro EU
remember who Clarkson's father in law was after all ....

I haven't seen this posted here yet - Britons stocking up on Euro's as Brexit looms.

Reminded me of the advice to some posters on here to have cash and the concerns about 6th April. I need to get onto that over the next couple of weeks.

RedToothBrush · 18/02/2019 17:30

ffs whats happening to us?! Clarkson used to be a right fucker... has he improved or has everyone else on tv/politics got THAT bad?

Clarkson and Co have genuinely said lots of feminist stuff this series. Whilst deliberately trolling and being offensive at times.

But they seem like just jokers now. And nothing that anyone should have ever got too upset at.
