For those saying reform the EU, it's almost impossible for that to happen... It is highly resistant to change.

RevokeRemainReform · 04/01/2019 16:16

I wasn't aware of this until you mentioned it, almost 500 people have signed it in the last hour and it stands at 291,485!

Russian bots. And my FiL.

themueslicamel · 04/01/2019 16:31

For a thread in support of an E-Petition, there are several comments on how easy it is to forge one, and the validity and nationality of the people/bots signing it!!!!!

ScreamingValenta · 04/01/2019 16:38

With you all the way.

1tisILeClerc · 04/01/2019 16:58

{Nope, I am in the I voted to get out of a club, that is not what it purported to be.... Trade...
No deal will be done, and will work.}
OK, please humour us and suggest HOW it might work.
Given that the ERG and many in the 'no deal' faction in the Tories haven't suggested what they are going to do STARTING ON 29MAARCH that is going to replace the industry that has already been lost.
Any figure within a couple of Billion will do.

1tisILeClerc · 04/01/2019 17:03

{For those saying reform the EU, it's almost impossible for that to happen... It is highly resistant to change.}
It is certainly slow to change but then it is trying to be as fair as possible to 500 Million people with rather different outlooks on life.
Actually a similar to America but of course only a fraction of the likes of China, Russia and India, who are not well known for swift changes to satisfy all their citizens.

Ragaroo · 04/01/2019 18:23

I'd be gutted if we voted again and the results turned, just because the govt are screwing the "deal" up doesn't mean it's the wrong outcome overall. The EU won't give us a deal right now because there is still a chance we might change our mind. Once we are out and it's a certaintity, of course they will want to trade with us. It's just going to take time to build up those negotiations, but I'm doing this for my children, and their children. It's not going to be overnight success.

I wrote to my MP and she said that most letters to her are still in support of Brexit and are worried that it's not going to happen! I think we need to get our voices heard now!

Mistigri · 04/01/2019 18:30

Once we are out

we will be in the worst possible negotiating position.

UK's leverage was highest after the referendum but before A50 was triggered. That leverage was squandered. No one to blame but fellow leavers.

1tisILeClerc · 04/01/2019 18:41

{UK's leverage was highest after the referendum but before A50 was triggered. That leverage was squandered. }
Fully agree with this. The main mistake that was made was the UK DELIBERATELY setting 'red lines' that everyone KNEW would be impossible. There are 4 main 'pillars' for the proper functioning of the EU. To deliberately 'demand' that they be changed to suit the UK was the most stupid idea ever because without them the whole functioning of the EU falls apart. The only country that really wants the EU to fail is Russia although the USA would like to give the EU a bloody nose because it stands up to American bullying tactics.

Quietrebel · 04/01/2019 18:49

I honestly think brexit is the one thing the US and Russia completely agree on.

thecatfromjapan · 04/01/2019 18:51

I'm with you, too, OP.

My MP is Remain and I keep sending her supportive emails.

Yaralie · 04/01/2019 19:24

So true Quietrebel The only foreign politicians who supported the leave campaign were Putin, Trump and the French fascist Marine le Pen.

Although the Russian economy is a basket case, Putin is a very successful politician. He wants to de-stabilise the West and has manipulated a US presidential election and a British referendum to achieve his ends.

It’s v quick and easy to sign it - it still needs more people for it to go live.

CraicMammy · 04/01/2019 20:52

ThelmaRB the epetition has the initial 5 signatures thanks, I’m just waiting for the gov website to sign off and then it goes live.

Hi all,

Here is a google drive link to a Word version of the letter I have sent to my MP.

You are welcome to copy it, or use it as a basis to create your own letter to your MP.

If you do send a letter, I’d be really grateful if you could pm me and let me know! You’re also welcome to share the link far and wide.

Many thanks
