Why is Corbyn not trying to topple May now?

As a Leaver and a Conservative party voter I am wondering why JC isn't doing something like this. I would hate him in power but is it because he knows it would be another hung parliament or that he doesn't want to actually lead the country. He just wants to protest.

If I was Labour I would want someone like Stammer or Cooper to balance the more drastic views of JC, DA or JM but they don't seem for moving.

Just interested - don't want it to happen btw!

Because he’s a twat who likes to heckle from the other side of the house but actually knows he can’t do any better.

The only thing that unites the Tories is to vote against abour. The DUP would do the same. At the moment he doesn't have the number

Hoppinggreen · 13/12/2018 18:19

Because then he wouid actually have to achieve something
He’s worked in the Public Sector all his life and never had a job where he’s held accountable for anything
Being PM would involve more than sitting down for a chat over a matcha latte and a gluten free Brownie so he wouldn’t know what to do.

HamiltonCork · 13/12/2018 18:20

Because he wants Brexit to happen but doesn’t want to take the blame for it.

missesbiggens · 13/12/2018 18:29

They are probably waiting for the vote on the withdrawal agreement before making their move. It's not an accident the vote was pulled when it was - a no confidence vote was coming straight after it when it inevitably failed. Theresa May foiled the whole plan when she pulled the vote at the last minute.

TeacupDrama · 13/12/2018 18:29

at least Tony Benn was a honest brexiteer he must be spinning in the grave at the shambles of Labour makes the Tories look organised and united

Helmetbymidnight · 13/12/2018 18:31

I can’t understand why brexiteers don’t want another referendum.

missesbiggens · 13/12/2018 18:31

I never liked Jeremy Corbin for his political views. But I liked that he refused to campaign for remain because he didn't believe in it, despite the bullying from his own party. Labour is just as split on Brexit as the Cons. party and I liked that he didn't put on a fake show.

He won't make a move until they know it has a good chance of getting Labour in. Seeing May swerve her fate again must have made them think twice about acting too soon.

missesbiggens · 13/12/2018 18:32

Helmut, another referendum about what?

GreenEggsHamandChips · 13/12/2018 18:37

@Helmetbymidnight because it will give UKIP raison d'etre again. And they just keep getting scarier and scarier

Helmetbymidnight · 13/12/2018 18:40

On the nature of deal, in or no deal.

The leave campaign illegally overspent, they harvested data illegally, they lied. Why not put all that to bed and hold a proper non advisory fair referendum?

billysboy · 13/12/2018 18:47

when are all the leavers going to get in their head that it is highly unlikely that there will be another referendum after the fur lined ocean going fuck up that this one has produced

I expect this to get voted through eventually that Labour etc can then sit and snipe about
Scotland via the SNP will then want another referendum

missesbiggens · 13/12/2018 18:49

You are right, of course. Both sides lied, used dubious funding methods to produce their propaganda and, in the case of Remain, used the full resources of the government to push the message home. Does that not even out the result?

You also couldn't have a three option referendum, with two leave and one remain option. It would split the leave vote, which won last time, and make sure it didn't win again.

missesbiggens · 13/12/2018 18:50

I don't think leavers are pushing for another referendum, billys. Remainers are pushing for a 3-way referendum to split the leave vote between deal or no deal, and remain as the third option.

Helmetbymidnight · 13/12/2018 18:52

It doesn’t even out the result, no. If anything it would make it even less democratic!

( Remain didn’t illegally overspend and weren’t funded by Russian money anywhere)

Why are leavers so afraid of another ref 🤔

missesbiggens · 13/12/2018 18:54

Why are remainers so keen to have another one?

Helmetbymidnight · 13/12/2018 18:57

Because when people realise that Brexit screws the gfa and the economy- for 50 yrs- we think they won’t want to do it.

Isn’t that obvious?

But brexiteers must feel the same- they surely feel our lives will improve post Brexit - so take away the lies, the illegal funding, the Russians, let’s do it.

Jason118 · 13/12/2018 18:57

@missesbiggens
Because all the leave options are worse than what we have now. Is not complicated really.

SO the second referendum is purely to overturn the result of the first. Of course I know this, it isn't complicated. It happens in the EU all the time!

missesbiggens · 13/12/2018 19:03

Please shut up about Russians. It's just so stupid.

Helmetbymidnight · 13/12/2018 19:06

Well jrm and the toffs get another go at choosing a leader, but the public don’t get another go at a vote- that you think was full of lies and illegally funded.

What are you afraid of? Don’t you think Brexiteers would win?

missesbiggens · 13/12/2018 19:12

How should I know what the outcome would be? I would be very afraid of losing, yes. I don't want the result overturned by hook or by crook, and I don't want to do the whole thing again knowing that that is the agenda.

Like I say, whenever a second referendum is held in the EU when the proletariat give the wrong answer the first time, they always somehow give the 'right' one the second time. Weird, huh?

GreenEggsHamandChips · 13/12/2018 19:12

Getting a bit off track Helmet. Make it a principle i dont get into the more agressive Brexit debates. This was about corbyn

Helmetbymidnight · 13/12/2018 19:22

So basically, you don’t think people will vote to make themselves poorer once you take away all the leave campaign lies. And you don’t want to give them the chance? Grin

Well to answer the original question, he doesn’t need to, does he? The nasty privileged brexiteers - who keep revealing themselves to be quite the bunch of cunts - are doing that for him.
