Does anyone openly (or even clandestinely) admit to respecting Boris Johnson?

Someone?

Anyone?

www.telegraph.co.uk/politics/2018/09/27/boris-johnson-plan-better-brexit/ (Behind a paywall, but the content is as we have come to expect - sovereignty blah, take back control blah, proud British nation, vile EU superstate, spineless PM, f**k the country blah ad infinitum for 4,000 words).

A man whose moment has passed, or our next PM? (Could it get any worse?)

The unusually tidy Caesar-look bowl haircut and the "serious stare", set against the backdrop of the union jack, are interesting. What's he staring at I wonder?

Nope, not for a millisecond. My Labrador would make a better politician than him. She is certainly a better person.

RangeRider · 28/09/2018 15:09

Respect a man who can't be loyal to his boss or faithful to his wife? Let me think about that.... Not a bloody chance.

eddiemairswife · 28/09/2018 15:16

All Boris Johnson cares about is Boris Johnson.

1tisILeClerc · 28/09/2018 15:30

{All Boris Johnson cares about is Boris Johnson.}
Does that equate to integrity?

Bombardier25966 · 28/09/2018 15:40

What's he staring at I wonder?

A mirror.

I'm watching the coverage of the Kavanaugh nomination and Johnson reminds me of many of the Republicans. Male white privileged and entitled, and a threat to civilisation. If you're not like them, you don't count.

Bombardier25966 · 28/09/2018 15:44

But we need to remember that many people do respect and even admire him, for (in their words) "telling it like it is".

Telling it like it is, otherwise known to decent people as xenophobia and bigotry.

eddiemairswife · 28/09/2018 15:44

Is there anyone in the conservative party who would make a good, moral Prime Minister?

traceyturnblatt · 28/09/2018 15:45

Nope.

I'd rather trust a slice of bread than that man.

StillSmallVoice · 28/09/2018 15:51

Nope.

bellinisurge · 28/09/2018 15:52

No

lonelyplanetmum · 28/09/2018 16:37

No.

He is profoundly untrustworthy.

Never mind recent stuff. He should never have been an MP again after: 1.His willingness to support GBH in the Darius Guppy affair (the businessman convicted of fraud, theft and false accounting).
2.His lies to direct questions about the paternity of Stephanie McIntyre.Does he even see that child anyway?

Figmentofmyimagination · 28/09/2018 17:06

But we need to remember that many people do respect and even admire him, for (in their words) "telling it like it is".

This is why I think I live in a bubble. There must be many people - beyond the diminishing (and aging) readership of the Telegraph - who do respect him and who will vote for a Conservative Party with him at the helm. Otherwise why would he think it politically sensible to make this leadership pitch (delusional hubris aside) at this point?

TheTrapDoor · 28/09/2018 17:09

Definitely not!

Tanith · 28/09/2018 17:16

He doesn’t “tell it like it is”; he tells lies.

HollyBollyBooBoo · 28/09/2018 17:21

No because I think he's a complete fake. The whole bumbling buffoon is an act and an incredibly irritating one.

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 28/09/2018 17:23

I would have had he laid in front on the bulldozers as promised.

prettybird · 28/09/2018 17:27

Traceyturnblatt - I just read your comment about rather trusting a slice of bread.

He said, "Why wouldn't you trust a slice of bread? At least it would talk the plain truth" Grin Wink

traceyturnblatt · 28/09/2018 18:49

@prettybird god he's like the worst mixture of dad jokes, silver spoons and dodgy socks in the whole world!

prettybird · 28/09/2018 18:52

Missed out the "read your comment to dh " Blush Makes more sense then! Grin

traceyturnblatt · 28/09/2018 18:56

@prettybird and I mean Trump, not your DH!

Grin😂

traceyturnblatt · 28/09/2018 18:56

Good lord! I meant Boris not Trump! 🤦🏼‍♀️

Although the similarities are there...

Butterymuffin · 28/09/2018 18:58

Can't respect someone with a complete lack of any integrity at all. I know Tory voters who think the same about him too (I'm not one). His opportunism is pretty blatant. There are of course always folk who just don't want to see it.

Theknacktoflying · 28/09/2018 19:06

As much respect as you can have for a man who almost single-handedly condemned a woman to an Iraqi jail ..

Even the useless Jerrmy Hunt has managed to do more

HateIsNotGood · 28/09/2018 19:37

No
