Westminstenders: The Brexit Apprentice

Theresa May is increasing looking like she is running an episode of the Apprentice with two teams trying to compete in their plan for Brexit. Complete with the obligatory reprehensible contestants.

On one side we have Team Creationists intent on hard Brexit and on the other we have Team Sensibles desperate to get a softer deal.
May herself has been held hostage by seasoned expert negotiators the DUP. Once No 10 has reported the deal was done, only for the DUP to say it wasn’t. Then it said, it would be settled today. But the DUP disagreed and said ‘the weekend’. Now its 'next week'.

Meanwhile the Queen has been messed about with a scapegoat over when her Queen’s Speech will be. It’s likely to be a week on Monday.
Meanwhile the Brexit department is also in chaos.

The Number two in the department was sacked and replaced by a Remainer, and the number three quit amongst reports that he no longer thought Brexit was achievable and that there was no way that the Great Repeal Act could pass through the Lords. He has been replaced by the Head of the infamous Arch-Brexit Whatsapp group.

Oh and Gove got hired. Nuff said on that one.

After some slight back tracking from David Davis, Hard Brexit is still on in all its glory. Negotiations are going ahead next week. Well that’s what we are saying. The EU, on the other hand, don’t won’t to go ahead until we have an officially sworn in government. Which seems pretty fair enough.

Tune in to find out which Team wins this week’ The Brexit Apprentice

Thank you, a lot of effort required to keep up to these threads at the rate they are being consumed Flowers

Cllr John Edwards @JohnEdwards33

Tory MPs who were booted out of Parliament on 8th June will get TWICE as much statutory redundancy money that everyone else gets.
WHY?

Nigella Lawson @Nigella_Lawson
So they've found the Magic Money Tree.....

PinkPeppers · 14/06/2017 17:47

Oh dear, students who dare going to vote....

PinkPeppers · 14/06/2017 17:48

Im Shock about the idea that owners do not have to make houses for human habitation.
I mean I was convinced this was a requirement already....

HashiAsLarry · 14/06/2017 17:49

There have been students voting in their studying constituencies for decades, but it's only a problem when they don't vote Tory.
Also they don't have to go home at the end of a school year. Uni isn't boarding school. You can stay in your uni town for as long as you like.

Peregrina · 14/06/2017 17:51

It's also taking them longer to stitch together a coalition than Cameron and Clegg did. That election took place on 7th May, and after talks between Labour, LibDems, SNP and Conservatives, a deal was finally announced just after midnight on 12th May, so 5 days after the result. There hasn't had to be time spent with cross party talks, May promised us that the deal was going to happen on 9th at lunchtime when she went to the Palace. 6 days on we don't seem to be much nearer. Now, after the 'goat has eaten my Queen's speech' excuse, a tragedy has occurred at which May was nowhere to be seen, and has put a spanner in the works. Plus the Queen must not miss Royal Ascot, which she has no doubt been looking forward too. Bet Theresa May is not very popular at the moment up at the Palace.

PinkPeppers · 14/06/2017 17:51

I want to know WHEN will the newspapers, the opposition make a HUGE deal out of these laws as well as thge actuall results of the Tories policies.

Real wage has gone down, not just this year but over the last few years since 2008. Unheard in most other european countries
Its the law about making houses foot for habitation.
H&S regulations etc etc
When will someone actually say loud and clear what this government doing to the overall population??

At the moment, it feels like people still just get a feel for what has been happening wo having a clear understanding on how much their rights have been eroded and how much their lives have or will be affected.

I really long for a proper opposition.

Out-fucking-rageous. Getting the boot on election night is a pretty well known hazard of the bloody job. If they've failed to plan for that well tough titty.

TheElementsSong · 14/06/2017 17:57

Peregrina The best part is, I'm still seeing Leavers posting that they trust the Tories to negotiate a stinking Brexit deal and make Brexit a success Confused.

So do the Brexit negotiations have to wait until after the Queen's Speech?

LurkingHusband · 14/06/2017 18:19

So do the Brexit negotiations have to wait until after the Queen's Speech?

The EU won't start until they can deal a team that has a mandate.

With every passing hour, the chances of the UK government changing in the next few weeks increases.

DumbledoresApprentice · 14/06/2017 18:21

I think so. I think Barnier said they won't start negotiations until TM has secured a parliamentary majority. Seems sensible to me. Until she shows that she's cobbled together a majority she doesn't actually have any real authority.
