Still a week until Stoke and Copeland. (Labour Hold/Con Gain unless something strange happens) QT is from Stoke next week.

A50 hits the Lords next week. Melania is being lined up to do something for the women. (God help us all).

Will UKIP survive? Will Nuttall survive? Will Labour survive? Will Trump survive? Will CNN survive? Will the Lords survive? Will Theresa May survive a class room of children?

All these questions and more

I wonder if the best thing would be to stock pile those high calorie drinks they make for people with depressed appetites (e.g. cancer sufferers) Wink

lalalonglegs · 20/02/2017 19:16

It isn't so much getting together large quantities of food, it's storing it that is the problem: damp/fungus/mice/insects all do untold harm to your supplies. Ideally, you need everything to be wrapped in plastic or canned. (This is all theoretical, I don't think any of us will need to become survivalists but, if we do, we'd be much better off learning to shoot squirrels and forage greens than store grain.)

Astonishment as Tory MP Sir Edward Leigh says: "Who has NOT made some sexual comment in our past?"

Tory MP Sir Edward Leigh faced howls of derision in the Parliamentary debate for his comments on Trumps ‘p*y-grabbing’ boasts.

“Of course what he said, what he is reported to have said in a private conversation is absolutely horrible and ridiculous and I hope none of us would make it,” he said.

“But which one of us has not made some ridiculous sexual comment some time in our past? Well, in private, you know.

“Let he without sin cast the first stone. He’s apologised! That’s not really a reason to withdraw...”

But he petered out as he was howled down by protests from those around him.

Does that mean we would have twin towns in North Korea?

Feels like the country's been pimped to the Atlantic Bridge.

lalalonglegs · 20/02/2017 19:28

Fire-lighting skills and the ability to identify poisonous fungi - I can see why you married him, in that case Smile.

woman12345 · 20/02/2017 19:29

Check out Anne Main's contribution red.

Survivalist courses could be a good money spinner atm.

woman12345 · 20/02/2017 19:33

Back to food, even before this shitstorm, word was that food was already becoming a very valuable commodity. Tesco will have to have more than friendly security guards.

Do you mean irn bru BigChoc? It's made from girders.

Irn bru and squirrels it is then.
Bake Off is going to be good in 2 years.Grin

Wasn't he one of the leading and upstandingly Christian proponents of "Faith, Flag and Family - a call for a Conservatism that backed traditional values..."? I guess misogyny and sexual assault are pretty traditional values.

Badders123 · 20/02/2017 19:39

Anyone remember the sketch from "that mitchell and webb look" tv show?

It was a post apocalyptic game show after something called "the event"

I think brexit might be "the event"

😥

RedAndYellowStripe · 20/02/2017 19:42

We have what 5 or 7 days worth of food available in the country. Nothing else.

I suspect we will eat much more cabbage and sprouts. But no courgettes or lettuce for us.... unless you are happy to pay over the odds for it .
Hmm... I think we need to ask the Polish people about it. When I lived there 15+ years ago (before the eu and all that), they knew very well how to live on 'traditional home grown foods' rather than the western diet. I'm sure they could teach us a few tricks.
Oh no we won't be able to do that. They will all have moved back home....

RedAndYellowStripe · 20/02/2017 19:43

Element :(:(

Supermarkets, Brexit and your shrinking Shop 8pm Channel 4 tonight.

Peregrina · 20/02/2017 19:50

Come on people - dig out those wartime recipes and as for clothes - make do and mend.

Seriously, I wonder whether the situation could get so bad that they would have to introduce rationing?

woman12345 · 20/02/2017 19:53

Greek people have in part been surviving their 'event' by their knowledge of cooking, preserving and growing on family plots.

BigChocFrenzy · 20/02/2017 19:57

I vividly remember the 3-day week, which is what happened the last time a Tory government decided on machismo as a substitute for economic strategy and sensible negotiations.

BigChocFrenzy · 20/02/2017 19:59

There was a Tory govt minister - I think Patrick Jenkins ? - who broadcast that we should brush our teeth in the dark, because of the power cuts

woman12345 · 20/02/2017 20:04

Share baths? Was that that one too? And there was a sugar shortage in Glasgow in the 1960s.

So many have never experienced this before, and after a long period of stacked shelves and lights on.

Badders123 · 20/02/2017 20:09

I remember sharing baths and only having the one gas fire on for an hour in the morning and evening.
It was the 70s...But we were poor so it might have just been coincidence

PattyPenguin · 20/02/2017 20:09

I still have my mother's immediately post-war cookbook, whalemeat, dried egg and all. It'll need rebinding. Also need to channel my grandfather's sharp-shooting skills for use on the local squirrels. Gosh, won't we just be going back to past glories?

Ooh, I sort of know a bloke who grows mushrooms in old shipping containers. Need to get some tips.

RedToothBrush · 20/02/2017 20:13

Large bags of rice will be put in those plastic tubs with a security tag in Tesco.

Look on the bright side Brexit gives an opportunity. It might help tackle the obesity crisis. Portion control to the population through shrinking pack sizes.

Loving Bulmers who switched from an imperial size to a metric size.

I'll have to dig Mom's recipes out and plant a few fruit bushes and trees.

I have just read the review of Jon Oliver's next show www.theguardian.com/tv-and-radio/2017/feb/20/john-oliver-on-trump-he-dominates-the-news-like-a-fart-dominates-a-car and this stood out for me:

Trump’s notorious news conference on Thursday was described as “batshit crazy” by Oliver, who said: “A presidential press conference elicited the same reaction you get from people who have just seen someone shoot fireworks out of his arse.”

'The president’s exchange with the reporter April Ryan, who he asked to set up a meeting with the Congressional Black Caucus after she asked Trump a question about the group, was also picked apart.

“The man is incredible because what hits you first there is the racism of assuming that all black people are friends,” Oliver said. “But then it’s not until later that you really appreciate the sexism of thinking that all women are there to perform secretarial tasks for you.”

Badders123 · 20/02/2017 20:15

But we will have pounds and ounces back!!!!
That's what MATTERS

woman12345 · 20/02/2017 20:18

Vegetables will be at a premium, maybe the illegal drugs trade will switch to illicit sprouts and mange tout. Grin Quiche will obviously be illegal. Please don't let them ban immigrant food too, I couldn't bear it.

ElenaGreco123 · 20/02/2017 20:19

I hope tikka massala is not considered to be immigrant food.
