You're twisting my melons man!

YorkshireTeaDrinker · 01/02/2017 21:31

I'm a remainer, and very sad about tonight's vote, so probably unlikely to have a drink lined up on your bar, but am genuinely interested to know why the bulk of posters here think that leaving the EU is a cause for celebration. I am seeing lots of adverse effects. What are to positive consequences that you can see happening already and expect to see in the future?

Genuinely interested in a non-goady, trying to understand the opposite point of view kind of way.

RufusTheSpartacusReindeer · 01/02/2017 21:32

tucker

I shouldnt bother with them any further...when they say everyone is welcome they only mean if you agree with them

Otherwise you are a traitor and an enemy of the people

'Step On' Semi Smile

DebbieDownersGiveItARest · 01/02/2017 21:35

In our post truth world goading is now re defined as simply stating an opinion.

WrongTrouser · 01/02/2017 21:37

Rufus I don't think that and I don't think most of us do. I don't know if surfer was joking or not, hard to tell. But no-one can speak for anyone else.

DebbieDownersGiveItARest · 01/02/2017 21:37

For one escaping people being in charge of us with the kind of mentality seen on the other thread Grin

TuckersBadLuck · 01/02/2017 21:38

There will be table thumping later Tucker so if you're feeling a bit snowflakey best wrap up

Snowflakey? I understand that's meant to be some sort of an insult, I've never understood it though so I'm afraid it's gone right over my head. Maybe you should try using normal English rather than UKIP doublespeak?

Do you really not understand what 'twisted' means?

Tryingtosaveup · 01/02/2017 21:39

Can I come in please? Crowded in here tonight. Thought I pop over to the remoaners thread and ask them to share my bottle of champagne. Funnily they weren't interested and called me a fuckwit. I was only being friendly😀😀😀😀🎉🎉🎉
I know it's only the first hurdle but still.
I am very happy.
Large JD please. Got to support our American friends. Think I may be a bit pissed.

DebbieDownersGiveItARest · 01/02/2017 21:43

You would think they are happy that things are starting to come together, all we have heard for months is - where is the plan, well now we can get moving on it all and get one. Smile yah, champagne all round I would say.

SemiPermanent · 01/02/2017 21:43

Yorkshire, I've been Eurosceptic for a long time, not just the last few years.
The Lisbon Treaty was the final nail for me.

Positive effects for me are much like those listed numerous times - but mainly the ability to have complete control over our own affairs.

SemiPermanent · 01/02/2017 21:45

WHAT'S THE PLAAAAAAAAAN???!!!!

SemiPermanent · 01/02/2017 21:48

Next Monday to Wednesday is the next nail biter, then over to the Lords.

Budget on 9th March, then (fingers crossed the Lords will have passed it by that point) TM can trigger A50.

JamieXeed74 · 01/02/2017 21:52

I see a lot of adverse effects too, but they will all be overcome, we are not helpless children, we can cope without the EU nanny.

The positive outcomes are that we will be the author of our own future and wont be stuck in a protectionist club of 28 holding us back.

Missswatch · 01/02/2017 21:56

I wish Claig were here to celebrate

SemiPermanent · 01/02/2017 21:57

If wanting fair treatment for women, refugees, LGBT and ethnic minorities makes me a bleeding heart liberal (?) than I shall wear that badge with pride

From the WM thread.

For the record, I can unequivocally state that I, too am passionate about these things.

I can vote to leave the EU, not buy into hysteria etc & still care massively about & fight for fairness & equity.

DebbieDownersGiveItARest · 01/02/2017 22:03

YY Jaime, I look at the EU and I do not see a success story at all. I see chaos, failure, stifling bureaucracy, misery, hardship etc etc etc.

"Scary teacher" over on thread in chat I think had some excellent posts on EU today. I think ossified was a word that was used to described EU Grin

The sinking ship is funny though. Remember when the limousine libs were saying Trump was going to lose? Then he was going to be arrested, Then the electoral college wasn't going to vote him in, Then he was going to be impeached. Look where we are now?

Keep holding onto your false hope if it keeps you going

DebbieDownersGiveItARest · 01/02/2017 22:04

YY semi....Its not easy being a Leaver and also caring about all those things but I manage to do it Smile

DebbieDownersGiveItARest · 01/02/2017 22:04

Wine for claig and Winchester Woman Wine run off here by a PBP.

Missswatch · 01/02/2017 22:06

Wine for claig - wherever she may be

Banned it seems. But I get the feeling she's lurking, maybe posting under a different name

SemiPermanent · 01/02/2017 22:08

Hi Claig & Wine wherever you may be - you kept the faith for a looong time!

Shame the self-proclaimed caring, inclusive posters chased you off.

SemiPermanent · 01/02/2017 22:12
