You like sovereignty now because it tries to silence our voice

And you hate it because it won't just let you do as you please and there may be some delay in you kicking the immigrants out!

MangoMoon · 06/11/2016 10:52

And you hate it because it won't just let you do as you please and there may be some delay in you kicking the immigrants out!

Almost at Bingo!

We've had:

Leavers = stupid

Now:

Leavers = want to 'kick out' immigrants.

Try as I might, I cannot find a single post on this thread from any Leave voter which has said "I want to kick out immigrants".

But, yeah - don't let the truth get in the way of a good stereotype.....

Bearbehind · 06/11/2016 10:55

mango I've not seen a single leaver tell us why debating the details of Brexit is such a problem.

That then boils down to it being because they wanted immigration to be the priority whatever the consequences which, however fluffily you describe it, results in you wanting some immigrants kicked out/ never let in, whatever the price.

SeekEveryEveryKnownHidingPlace · 06/11/2016 10:56

Erm, on this very thread we have posters confirming that immigration was their main reason for voting leave! Or have I misunderstood: they hoped a leave vote would be good for immigrants?

SeekEveryEveryKnownHidingPlace · 06/11/2016 10:58

Similarly I haven't seen a remain poster saying 'I voted remain because I 'hate sovereignty'', but hey.

It seems to really frustrate you that people think you're stupid, and your only response is 'bingo! They said we're stupid!' It doesn't really help combat the perception.

MangoMoon · 06/11/2016 11:00

Erm, on this very thread we have posters confirming that immigration was their main reason for voting leave!

Well, yes.

But what they didn't ever say was that they 'wanted to kick all immigrants out'.

Completely different sentiments.

It's really not difficult to comprehend the difference, no?

WinchesterWoman · 06/11/2016 11:01

Hate sovereignty? Why would you say that.

We don't need MPs to represent us in this case. We represented ourselves.

Cxc78 · 06/11/2016 11:03

Aaaaaand repeat....

Bitofacow · 06/11/2016 11:04

WW "We don't need MPs to represent us in this case. We represented ourselves."

You keep on saying this - but that is not how UK Parliamentary democracy works. You want it to be different but, long standing precedent and the law don't agree with you.

MangoMoon · 06/11/2016 11:04

Bear, I'm a leaver - I said across several posts that I've no problem at all with the legal ruling; I've no problem at all with the details/model of Brexit being debated in parliament.
Other leave posters agreed with me.

What I do have a problem with is the vocal minority (not necessarily posters on this thread, but on other threads and in rl) who are hailing this as an opportunity to stop Brexit entirely.

Completely different & separate things.

YellowPrimula · 06/11/2016 11:06

Because I don't know what I am saying yes to , or for that matter what I am saying no to .Yes or no is a meaningless choice .

Imagine someone asked me if I wanted a holiday, so I say yes , then it turns out the holiday is in Siberia , I am allowed no warm clothes and it will cost me all my savings.I am going to wish I had asked a few more questions am I not , and possibly If I had I wouldn't have said yes so rapidly.

Honestly people who want a yes no are the sort of people who sign things without reading them and them complain that they don't like the terms they agreed to .

Bitofacow · 06/11/2016 11:07

Mango no one wants leave voters to be stupid, but it they keep on saying stupid things what can we do about it?

Copious explanations about how the UK system of government works and people keep on bleating "but we had a vote".

MangoMoon · 06/11/2016 11:08

It seems to really frustrate you that people think you're stupid, and your only response is 'bingo! They said we're stupid!' It doesn't really help combat the perception.

You really seem to be struggling with basic comprehension today.

My 'only response'?!

I responded in much more detail than just calling 'Bingo', but maybe it's too difficult to deal with more than one word at a time?

YellowPrimula · 06/11/2016 11:08

Sorry that was a reply to WW on why remainders aren't happy with a straight yes/ no

SeekEveryEveryKnownHidingPlace · 06/11/2016 11:08

Mango, winchesterwoman Said below that remain voters voted against sovereignty.

SeekEveryEveryKnownHidingPlace · 06/11/2016 11:11

This!

Mango no one wants leave voters to be stupid, but it they keep on saying stupid things what can we do about it?

Bitofacow · 06/11/2016 11:12

Mango - you are making some good arguments but you are not being helped by your helpers. As quickly as you make a point they pop up and disprove it.

WinchesterWoman · 06/11/2016 11:24

You voted against sovereignty so what are we supposed to think

Your sudden conversion is very suspicious

Understatement

Plus not immigration but freedom of movement
Maybe remainers don't understand the difference - they certainly seem to confuse them a lot

Bearbehind · 06/11/2016 11:27

We don't need MPs to represent us in this case. We represented ourselves.

ww I dont actually believe you are as stupid as this makes you sound I believe you say it to keep the conversation going.

The vote was leave or remain, no one 'represented themselves' any further than that, not even leavers all agree on how to leave,so it therefore follows the details need to be discussed and debated.

That is indisputable but I suspect you'll keep poking your pointy stick on the matter.

YellowPrimula · 06/11/2016 11:28

Freedom of movement in EU terms includes the right to live and work without restriction in any EU country therefore it is the same .

I did not vote against sovereignty , I would suggest that you do some mugging up on what sovreignty means in the context of the British Constitution as I think a lot of the confusion on this thread comes from a misunderstanding of what sovreignty actually is within the legal system of the United Kingdom .

Breadandwine · 06/11/2016 11:35

Mango no one wants leave voters to be stupid, but it they keep on saying stupid things what can we do about it?

Grin
Bitofacow · 06/11/2016 11:36

See mango - there she goes again. All your hard work down the drain.

Voted against sovereignly - my arse.

WinchesterWoman · 06/11/2016 11:36

You actually don't understand the difference. Seriously?

WinchesterWoman · 06/11/2016 11:39

You don't even know what you cited for - and you call leavers stupidGrin
Couldn't make it up

WinchesterWoman · 06/11/2016 11:40

Ww bear there's no talking round this you bunch of fakers
We represented ourselves - all MPs need to do is rubber stamp out decision
