In a post-religious age there is no consensus on which way moral compasses point (not that there ever was but we now live in an age of acknowledged relativity.)

My MP voted Remain in a 75% Remain area. Should she follow her constituents, her country or her cabinet? (She's in it)

surferjet · 05/11/2016 17:38

Natch.
Everything will be wonderful if we stop Brexit. No more wars, famine, racism or poverty- the sun will constantly shine & everyone will happily skip off to their well paid job.

There would be 51.9% of pissed off people rather than 48.1% of pissed off people?

RufusTheSpartacusReindeer · 05/11/2016 17:39

Although i agree with you winchester

How much of a majority?

So when i did my figures earlier i put between 48-52% as being very close

Do you want any majority at all?

GloriaGaynor · 05/11/2016 17:40

Which is another way of saying that co-opting a simplistic view of morality to justify anti-democratic views isn't convincing.

RufusTheSpartacusReindeer · 05/11/2016 17:40

What has happened to the big bottles of marmite?

GloriaGaynor · 05/11/2016 17:42

There would be 51.9% of pissed off people rather than 48.1% of pissed off people?

This.

RufusTheSpartacusReindeer · 05/11/2016 17:44

Looks like the mp for one of our local areas which voted to leave by 63% did indeed vote to remain

surferjet · 05/11/2016 17:46

The UK will unite like never before.
Scotland will love England, racism will be unheard of, cheap labour from the EU will be welcomed with open arms because we all want the rich to get richer don't we guys! YES! We want our wages driven down because we love a race to the bottom.
No brexit? Bring it on!

I do wonder if some people genuinely think that if brexit stopped tomorrow, those who genuinely did vote Leave due to racism will revise their view.

RufusTheSpartacusReindeer · 05/11/2016 17:47

The one for the other local area which was 55% leave also voted leave

So it will be dead easy for her

She was paracuted in to the very safe tory seat

surferjet · 05/11/2016 17:50

But they won't just be pissed off though will they, they'll be angry & bitter & resentful - are you happy living in a country like that?
As it stands now leave won. I understand some of you are pissed off but plenty remainers accept the result.
If Brexit is stopped it's a totally different thing, & you just can't understand that.

BoredofBrexit · 05/11/2016 17:52

So. 48.1% will be happy to subvert the democratically declared majority vote?

Fuck off.

And I think you have just declared that the whole a50 shit is indeed, as we know, an attempt by the catsarse folk to derail Brexit.

Shame on you all. Surf, serve their drinks from the drip trays.

InformalRoman · 05/11/2016 17:52

But they won't just be pissed off though will they, they'll be angry & bitter & resentful - are you happy living in a country like that?

I already feel like I'm living in a country like that.

InformalRoman · 05/11/2016 17:53

And I think you have just declared that the whole a50 shit is indeed, as we know, an attempt by the catsarse folk to derail Brexit.

Nope, didn't say that at all. Surfer asked what would happen if Brexit didn't go ahead. Don't go making shit up.

RufusTheSpartacusReindeer · 05/11/2016 18:02

Evenin' all. Just checking in and having a look around. Interesting thread. Will be back in earnest after Tuesday. Must say though - quite pleased that Gina Miller thing happened now. Shows very clearly that democracy can be bought.

RufusTheSpartacusReindeer · 05/11/2016 18:10

Whether Brexit does or doesn't happen those people will still be racist. I'm not sure what your point is.

surferjet · 05/11/2016 18:32

Of course,
would you like some pork scratchings with it?
