Clearly Boris didn't get the memo, on when to quit the power games, even after Gove schooled him in the dark arts of the Tory Leadership....

So the Tory Smackdown rolls on whilst Corbyn STILL clings on. UKIP has now entered the race to make a challenge for who can make the biggest leadership contest shambles.

In The Blue Corner
May strikes fear into the hearts of EU citizens as she counts her bargaining chips.
Gove strikes fear into the hearts of humans, with his Martian twitch.
Loathsom strikes fear in the hearts of Britains by talking about babies brains.
Crabb strikes fear into the hearts of Torys by suggesting a plan that Corbyn might like. (and that beard doesn't help).
And Fox.
Well he just turned up.

Johnson is still waiting in the wings to stab Gove. He'd quite fancy a seat at the cabinet table too.
Osborne has gone quite again and we wait with baited breathe to see if he is the 'Charlie off Casualty' of the Tory Party (y'know whatever happens he somehow survives like a cockroach).

In The Red Corner
Corbyn apologies. So we know he's getting a bit desperate.
Will the Unions figure out something else to do other than sit with their head in hands.
Angela Eagle is still doing jellyfish impressions and hasn't found that backbone.
We STILL don't know who the fuck Owen Smith is?
Will Bliar's chicken's finally come home to roost?
The Cult of Momentum, rumbles on. We aren't quite sure who they actually vote for, but they seem to like their Dear Leader.
When will this country next have an opposition party?

Its kinda getting boring guys, we need some action now. End the Chicken Coup! The Tories are definitely out doing in the high drama stakes.

In the Purple Corner
Farage has gone! Hurrah. We hope only that he stays under that rock.
(Don't count on it. They'll wheel him out when they need publicity)
Will Leadsom be elected leader? Oh sorry, wrong party. I was getting confused for a second there.
Will they throw the cuckoo Carswell out? [:)]
Will they be able to find a less offensive leader than Farage who can unite them in their common goal of errrr..... yeah. That.
How long before one of their candidates has to apologise for something?

And I suppose I should ask, when will a50 be triggered....? And by whom?

All these questions and more.
Sense of humour compulsory. No experience necessary though

Yes - we may have just taken one for the team

TheBathroomSink · 05/07/2016 14:30

Clarke also said May was difficult, but so was Thatcher, and he'd probably vote for her. He isn't convinced Leadsome actually wants to leave and has said some 'extremely stupid things'.

GingerIvy · 05/07/2016 14:31

Am I understanding this correctly? Not content to fight with JC, reports are now that AE and OS are in a stand off between the two of them over who gets to be the challenger?? You couldn't make this up!!

Are there actually two people in the government that are still getting along? Confused

RedToothBrush · 05/07/2016 14:32

Maybe it will also work against Trump too?

NO CHANCE.

If only because there is an alarming number of Americas who think London is the whole Uk and would never get beyond Fox.

It never fails to amaze me just how inward looking the US is. The EU is much more aware of things outside its own insular borders (even though it is still Europe centric).

Any Americans who do have awareness are likely to much less likely to vote Trump in the first place.

But yes, I do think we have taken on for the team. I think that's the best way I can view it. If it all goes tits up here, at least its contained. Well provided Gove gets no where near those nukes.

Clarke: The idea of Boris as PM is ridiculous. He doesn't know Crabb's view on most things.
He was talking to Sir Malcolm Rifkind off air at Sky, but the mics were still live.
Rifkind said anyone but Gove.

Apparently Fox isn't even worth bitching about behind his back!!

Well this is what I have just read on the BBC website.

Can we put them all on the 350million pound bus and drop it off the metaphorical white cliffs of dover, along with the pound and all our much wanted and loved EU nationals?

They are a bunch of muppets.

OP posts:
GingerIvy · 05/07/2016 14:35

Red I agree with the bus suggestion. Let's start a petition. Grin

Chalalala · 05/07/2016 14:37

Sadly probably a fair assessment of American awareness of European politics

In fairness to them they're not that much smaller than the entire EU, population-wise, and they have more than enough problems of their own.

DoinItFine · 05/07/2016 14:38

Peter Foster in the Telegraph on hoe Europe can prevent us from delaying article 50 for too long:

www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2016/07/05/the-eu-wont-let-britain-dither-around-forever--heres-how-it-coul/

I agree with him that article 7 is pie in the sky stuff.

Chalalala · 05/07/2016 14:41

The entire Clarke/Rifkind exchange is just amazing!

Why can't politicians just say what they think more often? It would be really helpful.

InShockReally · 05/07/2016 14:43

The thing is, people could have spelled out categorically why Leave would win and we wouldn't have believed them. Why should America?

I'm beginning to realise that some lessons can only be learned the hard way.

Found this from the FT being quoted on Twitter earlier, I've been wondering for some time about how many Civil Service jobs would have to be recreated post Brexit. I'm not sure if this will post properly through the app but you get the idea!

GingerIvy · 05/07/2016 14:53

I have to ask. Is there anyone left on the Labour side to vote?

Showmethewaytogohome · 05/07/2016 14:55

Junior doctors reject new contract - health secretary says he is 'disappointed'

Protesting doctors
PA
Junior doctors and medical students in England have voted to reject a new contract offered to them by the government after a protracted dispute.

British Medical Association members voted 58% to 42% against accepting the deal.

BMA leaders had urged members to accept the terms, which were announced in May after talks with the government resumed following six strikes.

Health Secretary Jeremy Hunt said it was "extremely disappointing" that junior doctors have voted against a proposed contract "which was agreed with and endorsed by the leader of the BMA junior doctors' committee".

RedToothBrush · 05/07/2016 14:55

Oh and Nige has a new job (second job, but lets face it, he get the biggest dole cheque in the Uk). Filling in for Katie Hopkins on her radio show.

officerhinrika · 05/07/2016 14:57

And leader of BMJ junior doctors committee has resigned.

Showmethewaytogohome · 05/07/2016 14:58

Can't they play the Running Man game like Arnie?

RedToothBrush · 05/07/2016 14:59

Gove has yet to master the twitterverse.

He said this earlier:
We need to renegotiate a new relationship with the EU, based on free trade and friendly cooperation. #Gove2016

Naturally he's had some helpful suggestions.

Tristram Hunt, Labour’s last but three shadow education secretaries, has today written to Nicky Morgan demanding “a clear statement of intent” over the status of EU nationals attending schools in England amid apparent disagreement between herself and the immigration minister on the subject. Hunt wrote:

The absence of planning by the DfE into the consequences of Brexit for children in English schools has been shameful – and it is teachers, school-children, and parents who will suffer. At school gates across the country there is now an atmosphere of confusion and concern, which has only been exacerbated by increased incidences of racist and xenophobic abuse. We need a clear statement of intent about how you are going to protect the education and learning of valued pupils in our schools. And we need it now.

Dear god. More evidence of Labour, doing their er...... old job.
