Is anyone else getting quite tired of being called a racist?

I know it can't just be me.

It doesn't matter what carefully thought out reasons a brexiter has for wanting to leave (I've seen some very articulate and reasoned ones on mn itself) we are still all getting lumped into a stereotypical group of closet racist idiots.

And Lord forbid any of those reasons might just involve any concern over levels of eu migration!

I've been told that I'm essentially imagining the three week waiting list for my GP or that this is nothing to do with eu migration. If I say I know it is because of the names being called out I become the equivalent of Enoch Powell.

The same goes for a certain local estate very much being a no go area, especially for young girls. After braving this street once with my children and being spat on and shouted at by a group of very hostile Romanian men/boys I've been told I imagined it.

When I had my son a few week ago my I was the only English speaking person in my ward. A polish man was shouting and being very aggressive to staff as they were struggling to find an interpreter.

I absolutely know that not every migrant is aggressive and that they should build more schools and go surgeries but I believe I'm right to be concerned about a high number of migrants who are not intergrating with their local community and the unsustainable strain on services.

I'm sick of being told that my experiences don't matter. That to even mention that this is what life is like in our town means I am a racist or little englander.

The Black African population has increased from 4.44% in 2001 to 15.43% in 2011
•The Bangladeshi population has increased from 0.41% in 2001 to 4.14% in 2011

What point are you making posting this in relation to EU migrants?

Jelliedeels · 14/06/2016 14:56

Bleak -
I fail to see the problem. Is it any of your business really

Are you joking. You can't get into schools are not enough places.

Doctors in the area are over run

Read the stats I just put up

Course it's my business!

BleakBetty · 14/06/2016 14:56

Oh bugger. Might have got that slightly off. Have this instead.

EU is significantly lower than non-EU which, unless our government changes immigration policy, won't be impacted by Brexit.

Is anyone else getting quite tired of being called a racist?
mountaintoclimb · 14/06/2016 14:57

Maybebabybee so that is your contribution to this debate?

Jelliedeels · 14/06/2016 14:57

My point
• The White British population has decreased from 80.86% in 2001 to 49.46

BleakBetty · 14/06/2016 14:58

Oh God.

The white British population has decreased. Cry me a fucking river.

You're not coming across so well right now.

You're not remotely referencing immigration now but instead focussing on ethnicity.

Jelliedeels · 14/06/2016 15:00

My argument is there is a immigration problem in the uk

There is not enough control

Not about World War Two which happened 70 years ago or over 40 years before the EU

SapphireStrange · 14/06/2016 15:00

My point

Please can you expand?

eatsleephockeyrepeat · 14/06/2016 15:01

You're not coming across so well right now. - I agree with you Bleak, and I'm really not one to go banding around labels, but if the shoe fits...

RebelRogue · 14/06/2016 15:01

Jellie well those statistics are irrelevant since it has nothing to do With eu migration. You might want to blame the government that highly encouraged non eu migration for that one.

unexpsoc · 14/06/2016 15:02

Jelliedeels - you are alf garnett and I claim my £100

Maybebabybee · 14/06/2016 15:02

mountain I commented extensively up thread.

But I am a born and bred East Londoner and I am getting sick of people moaning the area has either become horrible and/or changed beyond all recognition in a negative way, and blaming both problems "on immigrants".

Some areas are shit now and have always been shit. Others have changed and are significantly nicer now, in part due to immigration.

Not all of us white British people born in bred in these areas get all antsy about losing our identity and the utter horror of people speaking different languages in public.

eatsleephockeyrepeat · 14/06/2016 15:03

Jelliedeels my reference to World War II was one of entitlement. It evidences why "entitlement" is not as clear cut as being British and paying taxes. But the fact you're keen to overlook this and focus on nationality, ethnicity and "birth right" is concerning.

RebelRogue · 14/06/2016 15:04

My argument is there is a immigration problem in the uk

The immigration that you describe and has increased was under government control not eu. How is the eu to blame to for that one?

lavenderdoilly · 14/06/2016 15:04

Maybe shouty polish man's wife was promised a translator. I was promised all kinds of shit by nhs maternity services which it failed to deliver. Wish I'd made my own arrangements for loads of things that were promised and not delivered.

eatsleephockeyrepeat · 14/06/2016 15:06

Can't get over the "over 70 years ago" comment! Jeez, does a grandparent's birthday not matter because the event you're commemorating was over 70 years ago?? 70 years is no time at all!!

Sunshineonacloudyday · 14/06/2016 15:08

Jelliedeels is that because the white British people have gone to live in Spain.

BleakBetty · 14/06/2016 15:10

Agreed, Sapphire.

Jellied, your statistics are utterly irrelevant to immigration, the EU and Brexit. The simply show how ethnic populations outside of the EU and entirely unaffected by it have increased.

BleakBetty · 14/06/2016 15:11

Great point about so-called 'birth right' eatsleep.

mountaintoclimb · 14/06/2016 15:16

The remainers on this thread seem determined to find racism in every Leavers' posts. It's really farcical. If you think wanting to live in a democracy is racist, wanting to curb uncontrolled immigration is racist, expressing any pride in your own country is racist, wanting to leave the EU is racist, well you need to give your head a wobble. Just calm down.

BertrandRussell · 14/06/2016 15:17

Who said expressing a pride in your country is racist?

mountaintoclimb · 14/06/2016 15:21

Oh I give up. This is getting ridiculous, and a bit nasty.

JassyRadlett · 14/06/2016 15:23

Nah, I think it's just the bit when some posters start complaining about the decrease in the white British population rather than the British population that things start to look a bit... well. We're forbidden from saying it.

BertrandRussell · 14/06/2016 15:23

Really? All I asked was who said expressing a pride in your country was racist! What's nasty about that?

Jelliedeels · 14/06/2016 15:24

Just a typical response from "in" voters

As soon as someone says yes there is a fucking problem with immigration you get on your high horse.

Come and live in a deprived area and see what it's like. But I'm sure your all going to say I live in a deprived area.

Two thirds of school children in Barking and Dagenham are of Eastern European the article was in daily mail.

Another on doctors surgeries over run with Eastern Europeans that was in telegraph.

But of course you will say they are not reputable places of reference.

Come down to Dagenham, ilford, East Ham and decide what you will
