Hueyjun, Have only just seen this. As far as I know there is no rank yet for 2015. I think perhaps they wait until after the Summer exams.

The urban myth about the boy unpacking for Harrow then being switched to Eton is absolutely true. Saw it happen. His prep school worked exceptionally hard to get him in to Eton at
any cost because that's all the parents wanted.
That's not to say that means Eton's the best fit for all. It is pretty hard knowing you're the last man in. Can be a round peg square hole scenario for some boys who want it for their sons for the brand rather than because the boys are well suited.
However, OP, if your son is high on the B list, you could be lucky sooner ray they than later. It's cruel to wait so late, IMHO, if it's Easter before CE, and he hasn't been promoted, I'd go for plan b rather than have him think he's failed if he doesn't get Eton. Sometimes you just have to move on.

Our son is on the waiting list for 2015 and I was just wondering if anybody has heard of any movement at all in the past weeks? I realise that Mr McKee has now taken over from Mr Milne and has most likely spent the past weeks making some sort of ranking for the waiting list boys as a result of Summer exams and recent feedback from schools. I would be so grateful to hear if anybody has had any news of any description from Eton about the waiting list? Or is it a matter of holding on tight until March? Has anybody ever had their ds moved in the Autumn term before starting? Decisions need to be made on whether we should just pursue the back up school. It's tough for boys at this age and in their final year at prep school not to be sure where they are headed and I am beginning to wonder if we should think seriously about Plan B and not be in limbo anymore. Any thoughts v welcome.

Cannot give you any info on the current waiting list I'm afraid, but I was you three years ago.

Firstly, I would ring Mr McKee straight away to ask whereabouts on the list your DS is, and how much movement there has been. Only then can you make the decision as to whether it is worth hanging on.

If I were you sticking it out until March would be a no-brainer, unless he was very low down on the list. Be open with your DS and involve him fully in the discussion. He may be quite happy to wait and see, they are often much more resilient than their parents we give them credit for.

The letter is out asking for confirmation of places for 2015 (as it is for many other schools too). If there is going to be waiting list place movement it will start now/imminently I would have thought.

If I were in your shoes, I think I would definitely have a back up option that I was very happy with, unless Eton told me I was near the top of the waiting list and the chance of movement was very high. After all your Plan B might be your Plan A in a few months time...
