I'm shocked - I've had a listing removed as it breaks their rules

It's for a swimming nappy/bikini age 0-3 years and they've emailed me to say they've removed it, informed my bidder and said "you're not allowed to list erotica or sexually oriented materials on eBay".

The Ann Summers toffee body sauce is still up and running and has 5 watchers!!!!

The only thing I can think is that in the heading I described it as a swimming nappy cum bikini. Maybe they've picked that up on an automatic search for certain words.

yes I'm sure they just do an autmatic word search - they don't have a man in a darkened room checking every listing its a computer program. Just miss out the offending word and relist.

misdee · 10/03/2007 19:27

why wouod you put 'cum' in a listing?

swimmign costume/nappy/bikini

satine · 10/03/2007 19:27

Someone I know recently had her listing for a re-usable nappy removed because it apparently contravened eBay rules. What?

It makes me so cross.

zippitippitoes · 10/03/2007 19:34

I'm not surprised it was taken off!

sophiewd · 10/03/2007 19:38

will the swimming nappy cum bikini fit my 13 month and last, if so how much are you looking for it

Surfermum · 10/03/2007 19:38

It's just the description I came up with in my head, Misdee, and typed it without giving it a second thought. I'd been going all afternoon and it was the last thing I listed.

I've emailed about it just to check that if I change it to nappy/bikini that that's acceptable.

There's some directive or other that forbids the sale of reusable nappies on ebay, because they, apparently, come under the heading of "Used Underwear"

wtf?

I'd use nappylady classified tbh

Surfermum · 10/03/2007 19:46

Yes it will, Sophie. It fits up to 3 years. It's got 3 sizes of poppers so it adjusts as they get bigger.

How about £3 including postage? I can send you pics so you can decide.

Surfermum · 10/03/2007 19:50

Oh! So it was banned on two counts!!

sophiewd · 10/03/2007 19:56

That sounds great, saves me trundling around trying to find one. Paypal ok, cheque bank transfer? My email is sophweld1 at aol dot com

Surfermum · 10/03/2007 20:01

Great stuff! I'll email you Sophie.

Twinklemegan · 10/03/2007 20:02

So that breaks the rules and expressed breast milk doesn't.

Since when have reusable nappies not been allowed?

chipmonkey · 11/03/2007 02:36

I've bought loads of reusable nappies second-hand on ebay!

Jimjams2 · 11/03/2007 07:40

There's a heading for reusable nappies- I've sold loads (and loads of trainer pants and swim nappies). It must be the word "cum".

pirategirl · 11/03/2007 07:46

lol, of course it's the word cum.!!!!

winniepoo · 11/03/2007 07:57

How funny is that!

MamaG · 11/03/2007 08:07

I would have put cum bikini though, its a genuine word!

MascaraOHara · 11/03/2007 08:14

it's the word 'cum'. they removed a pair of my shoes because I had stated I wore them to the 'erotica' ball.

I think they do a search for specific words and automatically pull any listings with words that match.

suejonez · 11/03/2007 10:08

it's not a legitimate word! The word is "come"!!! Think you'll find that will be OK.

Surfermum · 11/03/2007 10:12

Thank you - I knew it was a real word and had started to doubt myself!

Well every cloud has as silver lining, Sophie has bought it from me and it turns out she's really close and is coming on our next meet up. (Go on, Sophie you know you want to).

OP posts:
Surfermum · 11/03/2007 10:14

Oh! Is it or isn't it? I'm not going to google it .

OP posts:
suejonez · 11/03/2007 10:18

if you look up cum in a thesaurus it will tell you that the alternative is "semen"!!

happystory · 11/03/2007 10:19

Have looked it up as I was sure you had used it correctly. Of course it has 2 meanings but you did use it in the correct way in your description.

suejonez · 11/03/2007 10:21

really? My thesaurus only gives the one option.

Anyway - as said before its a word search they do - no judgement involved.
