Anyone starting egg donation July/August?

Leala20 · 28/06/2020 08:48

We maybe starting our egg donation treatment (first time) July/August and I thought maybe there’s anyone here that would like to join me. Ive found this forum very useful and supportive and thought I would reach out as I cannot believe it is so soon and getting a bit nervous. We had a year of rollercoaster of trying for many years to being finally told my amh is too low and I wouldn’t qualify for IVF. We did our research and found DCN very useful and are really excited about it.

Add to that - insomnia, waking up stupid early- and weight gain round the middle too..... it's lovely!

Cleozeta · 28/08/2020 17:50

Definitely peri needs to be talked about more, and educated. Schools. When I had my first symptoms at 39 I actually thought I was going to die. I had an annovulatory cycle (had never even heard of this before) followed by an ongoing breakthrough bleed which went on for about a month. My other symptoms were clots, very heavy bleeding (discovered since its called 'flooding' as is a thing. Also extreme anxiety, never had that before but everything made me panic. Extreme tiredness, and sadly - an intolerance to alcohol.
I had no idea what was going on, and when I went to the GP they said I was too young for menopause so tested for other things, including an ECG as I was also getting heart palpatations. I had absolutely no idea these were signs of peri. Anyway, as I was ttc I requested hormone tests and it came back with high FSH which is when the GP explained about the symptoms being part of that. I spoke to some friends after who had also said they experienced similar things and also went to GP in a panic as they had no idea what was happening. It's shocking that in this day and age women don't know what to expect at this time and almost always end up at GP thinking it's some kind of terminal illness, yet it happens to 50% of the polulation!

tikha · 28/08/2020 18:07

Definitely. They should offer AMH as a free test for screening for women aged 35 anyway just to raise awareness if not sooner. My FSH was normal but had relatively low AMH and my egg quality was pretty bad. We had a very low fertilization rate and when we tested the blasts most of them were abnormal. The only clue I had was very light periods and something my cousin said that women in our family get early menopause. I would frozen my eggs in my 30s if this was not such a taboo subject.

@Pingupp i had weight gain from the IVF that I haven't been able to shift. I wonder whether that was peri-menopause peeking in..

I have my scan this upcoming Tuesday..

Pingupp · 28/08/2020 19:12

@tikha could be.... I always had a skinny waist and it's kind of disappeared!
Lockdown didn't help I am sure!
What is the scan for? X

Leala20 · 28/08/2020 19:50

Thank you all. This is very useful so I know what I can expect. I feel like we have a good space here to discuss this. Had I know what I know when I was 30 I would have made better informed decisions. I have spoken to my younger sister as I want her to be more aware so she’s able to make choices. My FSH was 13 or something and GP wasn’t bothered but I wasn’t getting pregnant so did the fertility mot and was literally told it’s as low as a woman 10 years older than you so you should be start menopause very soon and regarding conception you have 5% naturally the most and ivf maybe 3% so we won’t accept you. It took me a few months to get over this and come to terms and started then exploring egg donation. Talk about the emotional intelligence and delivery.
@tikha is this your 6 week one? Wow!
@Cleozeta how are you feeling?
@Cafeambllet how are you? Will you be starting the next cycle in September?
I got my blood results and all seems to be ok so I am waiting for AF that’s due early September and here we go again. I am trying to find an acupuncturist nearby but there’s more reflexologists. Would you know if this is as effective in relaxation ( they’s what it’s meant to be right?)

@Leala20 no worries 😊 hope everyone has a nice and relaxing bank holiday.
I am helping him on our little room extension - the mess is killing me!! 👷‍♀️

Cleozeta · 31/08/2020 09:50

@Leala20 that sounds like a horrible thing to go through, and to be told so bluntly too. I am so pleased you found this solution, and I really hope it works for you this next time around.

Who is due to start next? Anyone awaiting transfer?

@tikha good luck for your scan tomorrow. How are you feeling?

I have my test day on Wednesday. No symptoms yet so not holding any hopes up. Also keeping super busy so not overthinking. The tww has gone quite quickly.

tikha · 31/08/2020 12:21

@Leala20 I will beyond 7 weeks when I get the scan so it will be about time I have it I guess. Hope you are managing to relax this bank holiday weekend

@Cleozeta hope you get a positive result on Wednesday. The waiting around is so hard.

Am feeling ok mostly. Just preparing myself either way.

Parisinthesummer · 31/08/2020 13:12

Hi everyone, hope you are keeping ok.

@tikha good luck tomorrow!

@Cleozeta good luck for Wednesday hope you get some good news.

I am doing my test tomorrow so just one day ahead. I was feeling positive last week but since Saturday I have been feeling really stressed, teary and all over the place. I want to do the trst but only if it’s positive 😓 I had some symptoms last week but the last few days nothing apart from a cramp on my right hand side.

Really thinking of everyone that’s on this journey psychologically it’s so difficult.

Russkispy · 31/08/2020 15:52

@Parisinthesummer @tikha @Cleozeta crossing everything for you! Having symptoms or lot could go either way. Don't read too much into it. The waiting is horrible but I do hope you all get your BFPs 🤞🏻🤞🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

Parisinthesummer · 01/09/2020 20:17

Hi All, I got my results this evening my Beta is 4 so it’s a BFN for me. Absolutely devastated after all the preparation and the waiting! Going to talk to my clinic tomorrow about next steps. Does anyone know if you can do a transfer the following month again? I’m wondering if they’ll suggest trying again or having a gap 😭

tikha · 01/09/2020 20:18

Hi all

Unfortunately not so great news.. the yolk sac is 9mm (small for 7 weeks) and no fetal pole or heart beat. The embryo did implant 7 days after transfer but would have expected to see something by now. My bhcg was around 5000 at 6 weeks. Need to go back again to get scanned in a weeks time but I guess I can use the EPU.

tikha · 01/09/2020 20:19

@Parisinthesummer sorry to hear this. Tough to follow through. Hugs

Cleozeta · 01/09/2020 21:24

@Parisinthesummer sorry you got a BFN, I hope you get to try again soon

@tikha oh how sad, sorry to hear that. Did you have any idea something was wrong or did that come as a complete surprise? So disappointing after going through all that time Sad

tikha · 01/09/2020 22:10

@Cleozeta having been through previous losses i never take anything for granted so havnt gotten very attached. Still it does hurt. I ended getting the appointment timings for my scan at clinic wrong. Was actually tomorrow. As they couldnt fit me and i didnt want to take further time off i went to a private sonographer. So still waiting to discuss the results with my clinic.

Russkispy · 01/09/2020 22:12

@Parisinthesummer sorry to hear about BFN.

@tikha heartbreaking news. So sorry! Sending big hugs Thanks

Leala20 · 01/09/2020 22:57

@Parisinthesummer I am sorry about your bfn. I was told it was better to wait one cycle and do some blood tests to review but I heard also from others with FET there no difference really but you should take time to review. It all depends on the clinic.
@tikha I am so sorry and i feel your sadness. I’ve never gotten so far but maybe there’s still a chance if it implanted on day 7? Maybe it needs a little bit more time? I keep my hopes for you it goes well and we are here for you.
@Cleozeta good luck tomorrow!

Pingupp · 02/09/2020 08:20

@Parisinthesummer I am really sorry to hear your news. I can't imagine how you are feeling. Sending big hugs and positive thoughts and hope that you can try again soon xx

@tikha I am so sad for you too. This must be heartbreaking- this is such an emotional experience and for it not to have a positive outcome is just saddening- but you never know? I will keep fingers and toes crossed xx

Pingupp · 02/09/2020 08:21

@Cleozeta BFP - that is lovely news!
What is the next step? X

Cleozeta · 02/09/2020 14:05

Scan in a few weeks time I guess!

Russkispy · 02/09/2020 16:51

@Cleozeta fantastic news! Congratulations! Would you need to do HCG and repeat 48 hours later?

Leala20 · 02/09/2020 19:08

@Cleozeta amazing news!! Congratulations!

Cleozeta · 02/09/2020 21:03

My clinic doesn't seem to do the HCG test thing. We take a HPT then go in for scan at 7 weeks. Quite glad really as I live nowhere near my clinic (other end of the country!)
So for now, continuing my medication and hoping for the best.
