Sellmer Diers - home delivery

Hi

Is Sellmer Diers now the only option for home insemination?

Has anybody used them? Has anyone used their healthcare professional service?

At the moment I don't know anyone who could complete the form for me so that I can complete this at home without going through a clinic. Has anyone one done this recently? Are there any success stories?

Any advice on using them would be much appreciated :-)

Brilliant information thank you so much

Bootsy78 · 22/05/2020 10:01

I’m so grateful to find this thread. I myself have been in touch and also registered with SellmerDiers, unfortunately this is the only clinic i can find that send donor sperm directly to your home address. At this stage I’m monitoring my fertile times etc and will be purchasing sperm in June/July(fingers crossed). Many thanks to everyone on here I’ve obtained good info from youSmile

Hi all,
I'm following this topic as we are from Belgium where you cannot choose your donor which we don't like. We are thinking to go to the Netherlands for treatment but this will take us a lot of time and organisation and money, I'm afraid. Our other option would be to do home insemination which we wanted to do with cryos but as this is not allowed anymore we were thinking about Sellmerdiers. I texted them once and they hold me they never shipped to Belgium before which scared me a bit. They said it should not be a problem but still...Can I ask you which countries you are from? And if it's really safe to do it this way? Also on SellmerDiers there is way less choice and it seems that there is also often few stock per donor which is also bothering me as we would like to use te same donor for Siblings afterwards but I also noticed that some donors are only open for siblings, is there a way you can block them for your siblings?
We are really in doubt on how we will do.
Thanks a lot in advance.

Thanks everyone for your replies!

I'm keen to get started but I'm really struggling with finding someone medical to fill in the form for me - is anyone else in the same situation?

Is there anyone that would be willing to fill in the medical consent form?

:-)

Hi all, just an update for everyone. I’ve just been checking out SellmerDiers website once again and when you click Self Treatment, the shipping has changed. It looks like they no longer send the tank/donor sperm to UK addresses for self treatment, now the sperm bank use a fertility clinic in Shrewsbury where you make arrangements with them. And for some reason they only now require a shipping form for people outside the UK. I baffled and saddened by this. If anyone has anymore info please please post it here. Thank you and good luck.

Mac89 · 10/07/2020 19:32

Bootsy, did you manage to find anymore info about this?

Bootsy78 · 10/07/2020 20:26

Hi, yes I actually called SellmerDiers a last week, and they did confirm that from now on they will no longer be sending the tanks (purchased donor sperm) to home addresses in the United Kingdom. Apparently Danish Law has changed and SellmerDiers are no longer allowed to do this for home insemination. Tanks have to be sent to a fertility clinic in Shrewsbury, we’re you are given a private room to self inseminate etc. Please check SellmerDiers website or contact them for clarification. This is such a disappointment because the same day day I finally got the shipping form filled is the same day I found all this out.Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

Mac89 · 10/07/2020 21:42

Thank you for replying! I had done a bit of research and knew the law had changed, but then seen lots of recent posts on here about the home delivery with a docs authorisation so wanted to double check!
I'm nowhere near Shrewsbury but it's looking like my best option at the moment! Also struggling to find any reviews for the clinic! I know it only opened last year though so maybe worth a leap of faith?!
I do like the fact that you can pay a bit extra and have a fertility nurse do the ICI rather than just using the private room and doing it yourself! Lots to think about!!

Greeneyes5 · 11/07/2020 08:01

Hey @Bootsy78 @Mac89

Do you know what the fees are for using NFS? And do you have to have any consultations or tests with them or do you just use them as a "pick up" point?

:-)

Bootsy78 · 11/07/2020 08:32

Hi, You would have to contact NFS for more info. They are not an option for me so I haven’t made any contact with NFS.

Mac89 · 11/07/2020 09:19

Hi @GreenEyes5 - they charge £500 to cover all admin/storage costs and that also gives you use of a private room to do the self treatment ICI, or for an extra £150 they have a fertility nurse that can perform the procedure for you. They also offer a scan for £40 if you want to double check you haven't already ovulated so you dont waste your procedure!

Because it's Self Treatment (even with be help of the nurse) they dont require you to do any tests or consultations, but they leave it down to you! I had an IUI procedure in March with another clinic that required so many expensive tests and consultations before hand that I'm confident I dont need anymore this time round, but could be worth looking into if you've never had any, sorhat you're not wasting money in the long run!

Greeneyes5 · 12/07/2020 20:01

@Mac89 Thanks for the info :-)

@Greeneyes5 have you made any movements yet with Sellmers/Nfs?

Mac89 · 12/08/2020 21:30

Heyy @Greeneyes5, I had ICI with the National Fertility Society yesterday and today and cannot reccomend them highly enough! Definitely worth looking into if they're still an option for you!

Ripleysfirst · 25/08/2020 22:04

I wish I had seen this thread earlier! I did 3 rounds of home insemination (Not successful) using SellmerDiers and really do wish I’d had the option of a nurse doing it and a scan before!
I’m currently looking into IVF with the stork klinik in Denmark and I’ll be using SellmerDiers again.
If the IVF doesn’t work I’ll probably be back trying home insemination, so it’s really good to know this.
Thanks!

Mac89 · 26/08/2020 07:34

@Ripleysfirst if we were allowed home delivery in the UK that definitely would have been my first choice!
Best of luck with your IVF 🤞🏼

Lbc34 · 10/09/2020 13:52

Can anyone help... I’m about to buy to self treat but they are saying I have to go to a clinic in England I can’t have it sent to my home address?

BlueSlice · 15/09/2020 10:44

I’m looking at home insemination but using a sperm bank so this thread has been really helpful. I’m wondering now if this is even possible?

How did you get on @Lbc34 ?

awsomer · 15/09/2020 10:51

I’ve just found this:
www.sellmerdiers.com/healthcare-person/
^If any healthcare worker is looking for a work from home job!

Mac89 · 15/09/2020 14:56

@Lbc34 home delivery isnt legal in the uk anymore as they cant trace who's using the sperm! You can get it sent to the National Fertility Society in Shrewsbury who accept responsibility for the traceability of the sperm. Then you can use their treatment room to self inseminate or have a nurse perform the procedure for you! That's the closest you can get to home insemination in the UK now!!

Mac89 · 15/09/2020 14:58

@BlueSlice if you're in the UK then unfortunately, it's not an option!

Hieveryone18 · 28/12/2020 19:54

@Greeneyes5 @Ellie0610 @BlueSlice @Wannabemums @Laslek @RustyMcG @Ripleysfirst @Lbc34 just been reading through. Anyone had any success I would love to know. I’m in the UK so would be interested to see if anyone has had any luck on their journey.

Jellybean444 · 08/03/2021 14:31

Hi i know this is a bit of a old thread I’m about to order from them for home inseminator my mum is a retired nurse an I’m wondering if she would be able to go as my health care professional, I’m struggling to find someone an I can’t seem to find the right help for someone to help me fill the medical professional form out.

LanieM87 · 08/03/2021 17:09

@Jellybean444 it was my understanding that sellmerdiers weren't doing home delivery anymore?
Regardless, I don't think they would accept your mum, as she doesn't have an active professional registration anymore.
