Lesbian couple IUI Copenhagen

Hello! We are an Edinburgh based couple and are keen to start IUI next September. My partner is a little older and I'm keen to get started before the dreaded '35' decline begins so it's September 2020.

We have chosen a few donors we are keen on from the European Sperm Bank and are thinking of using Stork Klinik in Copenhagen because we like the regular meet ups with other Stork children and would like our littles to be able to meet / keep in touch with half siblings and others with families like theirs. I wondered if anyone had done this before? What were the challenges etc. Basically would love to hear from others who have done the same to see if we're being mental!

Yikes, that’s extortionate. Please ignore my not-very-useful-after-all advice, now that I’ve looked properly, they fly direct less frequently than EasyJet. Shame, as it’s such a quick flight.

Back on topic, I wish you the very best of luck with everything!

eatanazurecrayon · 24/01/2020 12:04

@kaldefotter thanks you 😊

We got a negative test this morning which is disappointing but expected. Back we go in two weeks time 😊

@eatanazurecrayon I was thinking of you - so sorry to hear that but remain positive 💪 If you haven’t got your period I wouldn’t rule it out ☺️ I had my 2nd round on Friday....used a trigger this time, let’s see if it makes a difference🤞🏻

eatanazurecrayon · 26/01/2020 12:30

@Bvi123 🤞🏽 for you x

@eatanazurecrayon Thank you ❤️ You too - please keep me posted.

eatanazurecrayon · 05/02/2020 19:20

@Bvi123 hi! How's it all going. Well I hope! We are going back to Copenhagen tomorrow. I have emailed them to ask for a scan to ensure we have maturing follicles. Did you do the trigger shot in the end? Was it ok?

OP posts:
Bvi123 · 05/02/2020 20:05

@eatanazurecrayon Ohhh good luck🤞🏻I’ll be thinking of you. That’s a good idea, I had a scan too - once my dominant follicle was 17mm, I did the trigger shot. IUI was then scheduled 36 hrs later. This feels like the longest 2WW ever, I’m due to test on Saturday - will of course let you know the outcome. Are you doing one this time?

eatanazurecrayon · 05/02/2020 20:35

@Bvi123 I'll be thinking of you too! I'm not sure. I haven't mentioned it to them. Do you just ask for a prescription? It would be good to get the timing spot on.

Bvi123 · 06/02/2020 02:58

@eatanazurecrayon Thank you 😘 Yes - I actually went to Copenhagen from Monday to Friday (I had holiday carried over & needed to use it). I went for a scan on the Monday, follicle was only 14mm (needs to be at least 17mm). So we came up with a plan, she said as scans are expensive & i’ll likely ovulate in the coming days, keep testing on my ovulation sticks (I tested morning & night). I of course had to ring if I get the solid smiley but if not I had to go back on Wednesday for another scan to check the size - it was 17mm so she wrote me a prescription for the Trigger. So I did the Trigger at 11.30pm Wednesday night & IUI at 11.30am Friday morning. Flew home Friday night. If you do decide to trigger, you want to do it before your own body surges so the synthetic hormone takes over. In theory the idea works - will keep you posted for sure ☺️ Safe travels & good luck.

eatanazurecrayon · 06/02/2020 17:10

@Bvi123 wow sounds like a great plan! Good luck tomorrow!! We are leaving tonight and got a solid smiley this morning so won't manage a scan or trigger. IUI tomorrow morning at 10. Unsure if that's great timing but the best we could do. Since we booked a longer stay thinking I wouldn't ovulate until the Sunday / Monday we are going to have a little relaxation time instead 😊

@eatanazurecrayon Thank you ❤️ I have to test tomorrow, feeling anxious. Aww that’s such a nice idea....a little getaway! That was kinda my idea too! Good luck this morning, I have everything crossed for you🤞🏻Have a lovely break, it’s a beautiful city.

eatanazurecrayon · 08/02/2020 08:07

@Bvi123 best of luck today! We had a lovely experience yesterday. We did last month too but yesterday was more relaxed and I didn't have any cramping after!! So it's been a smoother experience which we are grateful for 😊 yesterday they also explained that the liquid left in the uterus following the IUI can cause pregnancy symptoms! So I want imagining it! That made me feel lots better! Fingers crossed second time lucky for both of us 🍀 thinking of you today and wishing you the best news ❤️

@eatanazurecrayon Ohh I’m so so pleased everything went smoothly and they put your mind at ease. They are so wonderful. I was thinking of you yesterday. How are you feeling? I’m happy to report that I got a positive test, I also had a blood test yesterday to confirm everything 😍 I’m beyond happy yet it hasn’t sunk in. I’m pregnant 👶🏻 I think I’ll be a lot more relaxed when the 1st trimester is over but for now I don’t want to get ahead of myself & just enjoying the moment ☺️
I have everything crossed for you, praying that your little bean sticks. Please please keep me posted, wishing you the best of luck ❤️ It’s time for you to relax & enjoy Copenhagen😘

@eatanazurecrayon
Hey, otd soon then ? I used a clinic in Copenhagen (single parent). It went well for me, my little boy is 16months and I'm 26wk with number 2.

I used a different clinic from yours though.

I hope you get a positive test in a few days, I had my son on the second try (number 2 took a few more tries though).

eatanazurecrayon · 19/02/2020 20:01

Oh! Great to hear success stories @Wintersun13 what clinic did you use? Testing Friday 😊 🤞🏽

Congratulations @eatanazurecrayon and @Bvi123 of course.

I have been following your stories with interest as I have been TTC with a known donor since November 2018 and I’m still not pregnant. I’m currently 3/4dpo from my most recent at home AI but after so many failed attempts I’m honestly not holding out much hope.

My donor is moving up north next month so this was the last time he would be able to help. I have therefore been looking at the possibility of going abroad and have looked at the clinic you both used and their sister clinic in Aarhus. Can I ask what made you decide on the one in Copenhagen?

I’m thinking of having a few months off (not that I can really afford to as I turn 39 in July) as I have used soy isoflavones the last 3 months so think I need to give my body a break and I’d like to lose some weight. Planning on looking to start treatment June/July time but then wondering if I’d be better to wait until September as flights and accommodation will be more expensive in the summer.

Congratulations again and fingers crossed for a happy and healthy 9 months for you both.

Congratulations @eatanazurecrayon and @Bvi123 🎉 I'm so pleased for both of you xx

Iprefergin · 20/02/2020 17:43

Hi

Congratulations to you all getting your positives ❤❤❤

I've been in touch with storkklinik and they sent me a journal to fill out, been monitoring ovulation and hoping to get started soon x

Bvi123 · 20/02/2020 18:27

@Greeneyes5 Thank you very much ❤️

Bvi123 · 20/02/2020 18:40

@Waiting2BAMummy Thank you ❤️ It was my gynecologist who actually suggested the clinic to me as she uses them with other patients. All I can say is that I’ve had the best experience I could have asked for, no question is too small, the clinic is very welcoming and everyone was lovely. They do free consultations so if you’re interested it’s definitely worth chatting to one of the midwives who may be able to guide you but if I can help answer any questions, just say. Good luck.

Bvi123 · 20/02/2020 18:43

@Iprefergin Thanks a lot ❤️ That’s so exciting, best of luck on your journey.
