Lesbian couple IUI Copenhagen

Hello! We are an Edinburgh based couple and are keen to start IUI next September. My partner is a little older and I'm keen to get started before the dreaded '35' decline begins so it's September 2020.

We have chosen a few donors we are keen on from the European Sperm Bank and are thinking of using Stork Klinik in Copenhagen because we like the regular meet ups with other Stork children and would like our littles to be able to meet / keep in touch with half siblings and others with families like theirs. I wondered if anyone had done this before? What were the challenges etc. Basically would love to hear from others who have done the same to see if we're being mental!

@Greeneyes5 Anytime ☺️ I had my cycle monitored for a month so had ultrasound and blood test to check various hormones as well as check for diseases. I also had a hysterosalpingography to check my Fallopian tubes (don’t think that’s a necessary requirement though).

eatanazurecrayon · 10/01/2020 15:34

@Bvi123 so sorry it didn't happen first time. Great attitude and fingers crossed for you next round ❤️❤️ ❤️

@Greeneyes5 I had all the tests required by them - HIV, Hepatitis, Smear etc. I'd had a scan a while ago so didn't repeat it. Monitoring your cycle is a big thing! The advanced clear blue are ideal because they monitor 2 hormones so you have plenty of warning when things are happening.

Thanks ladies - I've contacted them for the list of tests required, now just going to shop around at some local clinics to get the tests done for the best price! I've also ordered some of those advanced ovulation tests so I can start monitoring my cycle properly the cheap opk's I've been using aren't the best. I think I'll be looking at going ahead on my March / April cycle if I can get everything done in time - does that sound realistic? X

eatanazurecrayon · 11/01/2020 13:33

@Greeneyes5 we're getting on a flight in 2 hours! 11 am tomorrow is our appointment. If you're in the UK our gp did almost all the tests on the day! It's just a bunch of blood tests plus an up to date sneeze. We had to pay for one of the hepatitis ones separately and did it through an online company called medickecks and they sent a kit in the post. Otherwise docs did everything in 1 appointment. Good luck 😉 keep us posted x

@eatanazurecrayon Good luck, hope it all goes smoothly! Will be thinking of you ❤️

Bvi123 · 11/01/2020 14:12

@Greeneyes5 You’ve got a great timeframe to get all the tests 👍 If you’re keen to proceed with Storkklinik be sure to book your consultation as well....I roughly waited 3 weeks for mine! Best of luck.

Lordfrontpaw · 11/01/2020 14:15

Can I ask a really stupid question? How does foreign donors work with nationality? Sorry if it’s really dumb but I was just wondering...

Hope it all goes well and that the process is smooth!

eatanazurecrayon · 11/01/2020 15:24

@Greeneyes5 irrelevant. Donor is not the father. You register the birth in your home country.

@eatanazurecrayon oops wrong tag I think you meant to tag @Lordfrontpaw x

@eatanazurecrayon Ohh so pleased to hear that you had such a lovely experience and all went well. I have everything crossed for you. Please keep us posted. ❤️

Greeneyes5 · 13/01/2020 07:28

@eatanazurecrayon so glad it went well - will keep everything crossed for you! When is your otd?

Did you come back the same day or stay in a hotel?

Xx

eatanazurecrayon · 13/01/2020 08:25

@Greeneyes5 26th January.

We actually stayed 2 nights. The night before and after which we hadn't planned on but we had to fly on a Saturday which is the only day of the week that you can't get a direct flight from Edinburgh to Copenhagen! The night of the IUI we opted to stay as it was our first time and we weren't sure how I'd feel. I was / am fine but there was some cramping about an hour after the IUI, perfectly normal but I was glad we weren't hopping on a flight directly after and had some time to just be. Next time we will probably fly in the morning and still stay over the night of.

@eatanazurecrayon Thank you ❤️ We’ve just arrived in Copenhagen 🤞🏻 Not long to go for you, eek....how are you feeling?!

eatanazurecrayon · 20/01/2020 11:32

@Bvi123 eeek!

Good luck!

I'm doing ok but also trying not to take every bodily 'change' as a symptom. My boobs do seem very tender though and I've had white CM which I don't think I usually do after ovulation. Also I seem to be urinating a lot and feel bloated.. Could all just be things I don't usually pay attention to though 🤷🏽‍♀️

Everything crossed for you ❤️

@Bvi123 are you using acupuncture? I meant to ask before. I'm finding it relaxing 😌

OP posts:
Bvi123 · 20/01/2020 13:58

@eatanazurecrayon Thank you ❤️ So glad to hear you’re doing well....all of those signs sound really promising, eek!🤞🏻You’re nearly there....the 2ww is torturous. Did you use a trigger shot? I wasn’t able to last time but most probably will be this time.
No, I’ve never tried acupuncture...are you’re enjoying it? Do they put the needles all over or just certain points?

eatanazurecrayon · 20/01/2020 14:09

@Bvi123 yes it's very relaxing. I go every 10 days and it's specifically for fertility. Near ovulation day and at what would be implantation they do a few extra things too. Certain points mostly. I didn't use a trigger shot. Why are you thinking you will this time?

OP posts:
Bvi123 · 20/01/2020 15:16

@eatanazurecrayon Ahh that’s interesting! I never thought to do something like that so thanks for the tip!
Well - when I originally discussed doing the procedure with my gynecologist, she suggested it but last month I ovulated quite early so didn’t get the chance but this time I’m in Copenhagen for longer so I’m going with the advice of the clinic....let’s see 🙏 Please keep me posted, everything crossed for you ❤️

eatanazurecrayon · 20/01/2020 15:29

@Bvi123 hmmm they've never mentioned it to me. Wonder why. Best of luck! Let me know everything goes as planned x

kaldefotter · 20/01/2020 18:44

Sorry to go slightly off-topic, but should you need to get to Copenhagen on a Saturday in future, Norwegian Air have flights between Edinburgh and Copenhagen every day.

eatanazurecrayon · 21/01/2020 08:00

@kaldefotter thanks! We did see that but it wasn't direct? It was also very expensive as we needed to book on the day. Ended up £350 total going through Luton 😊
