Basically as far as I can gather Happydaddy was accused of doing stuff by a certain mumsnetter which embarrassed him greatly especially as it was not true. He then felt that he had lost respect on mumsnet and decided to take a break for a while. Needless to say he is much missed.
Please correct me if I am wrong.
DrDaddy yes I did see the rugby at the weekend!! Good to see any English club win. You will now tell me you are Welsh!
I am hoping for a Wasps v Llanelli European cup final myself and if that is the case will try to get tickets if I can.

BearintheBigBlueHouse · 17/04/2007 14:05

and me

Dinosaur · 17/04/2007 14:07

Hello BITBBH - haven't seen you on here in ages!

suejonez · 17/04/2007 14:07

sorry to gate crash on the mends thread - but BigGitDad - who are you hoping will win? Am a Llanelli follower (now a bit lapsed living in london) but spend many a happy hour down stardey park in my youth following the scarlets.

BearintheBigBlueHouse · 17/04/2007 14:08

I've been gert busy - apparently a woman's work is never done and it takes even longer if you leave it to a man to do.....

Dinosaur · 17/04/2007 14:09

DH (also a SAHD) asks after you occasionally.

He doesn't come on here though; he spends his time on FISO.

TeeCee · 17/04/2007 14:10

Thank God for Dads on mumsnet I say. Or I'd never have met Hub2Dee for a start.

At the end of the day it's a site for PARENTS or people wanting to be parents.

nappyaddict · 17/04/2007 14:12

oooh yes now i can have a nosy at someone new. thanks BITBH!

suejonez · 17/04/2007 14:12

I quite like talking to men

suejonez · 17/04/2007 14:13

which one of you won the day at fairy school (or whatever)? How was it?

BearintheBigBlueHouse · 17/04/2007 14:20

I'm so not new. Just not a particularly prolific poster - I store it all up and distil it into pithy nuts of wisdom.

Yes it was me that nearly had to go to fairy school, 'cept I got lucky.

suejonez · 17/04/2007 14:22

how did you get lucky - did the fairies come to you instead?

BearintheBigBlueHouse · 17/04/2007 14:25

something like that - the place is coming down with fairies right now

if you missed the soap opera that was our almost visit to fairy school, check it outhere

suejonez · 17/04/2007 14:30

so it was a win win (as we 80's gals like to say)

BigGitDad · 17/04/2007 14:34

suejonez, having named my son Lawrence after the great man himself then his second name is Johnson after our leader that will give you a clue as to who I will root for.(how did my wife let me get away with it?)
I am a fan of Wasps and would love a Welsh V English final as it brings out the best and worst of both countries and supporters. My daughters godfather is Welsh and I have got a bet with him that if Wales win the world cup this year I will change my son's name to Gethyn. But it will not happen.....

suejonez · 17/04/2007 14:39

oh god anything but Lawrence. He is such a loud mouthed git.

Wanted to name my DS Phil Bennett Jonez but when it came to the crunch he didn;t much look like one. Much happier as Merv the Swerv Jonez (showing my age now)

DrDaddy · 17/04/2007 14:41

BigGitDad - thanks for the info. Sorry that HappyDaddy has gone away for the moment. Hope he comes back.
I am of Scottish descent actually! But a fan of Bristol Rugby at club level and would certainly support Wasps vs. Llanelli. Don't ask me who I would support at international level in a Wales vs Eng encounter though...

suejonez · 17/04/2007 14:44

a fellow celt considering supporting England in rugby . You can support them in cricket.

DrDaddy · 17/04/2007 14:45

Only at club level.....

BigGitDad · 17/04/2007 14:50

I would like to visit Stradley Park one day, it would be nice to see where all the legends have played, and of course Llanelli beat the All Blacks there. (Had to Google that to be sure)
I went to Cardiff for England V Wales and had a great weekend and to be fair the Welsh were very hospitable. I thought wearing the shirt I'd be in for a hard time but would definitely go back again even if i did not have a ticket just for the atmosphere.

BigGitDad · 17/04/2007 14:52

Ooh cricket! (BGD runs off to check up score and set up desktop ticker)

suejonez · 17/04/2007 14:56

I went to uni in Cardiff Match day is great I would be shicked if anyone was given a hard time for wearing the opponents jersy. Still no segregated seating and long may it continue.

I was at the lanelli Australia game the season after Aus won the world cup and Llanelli won in the last 3 mins with a dorp goal. I can't remember being so happy (until Wales won the grand slam again at last).

When I first started going to the matches at about 11 - the following people were playing for llanelli Phil Bennett, Ray gravell, Derick Quinell, Delme Thomas (very underrated), JJ Williams, Mervyn Davies who have I missed? (sigh)

Did you know there are Sospans on the top of the goal posts?

suejonez · 17/04/2007 14:57

They did (beat the Allblacks there) - 9-3 my dad went but I didn;t have a ticket. Schools closed for the afternoon so kids could go if they wanted to!

BigGitDad · 17/04/2007 15:00

what are they doing on top of the posts?
I would love to have seen those players you mentioned, legends.
I saw Bill Beaumont in Cardiff, he looked old but then he probably is!

suejonez · 17/04/2007 15:04

do you not know the rugby song "sospan fach"? Its the llanelli anthem and has been for time immemorial. Based on the saucpan (sospan in Welsh) factory in the town I beleive. Sospans on the top are a tribute to that - they are quite famous I thought.

I was always a Phil Bennett fan myself I thought he really suffered playing at outside half when he did. He had a long and illustrious career at the Scarlets
